View Full Version : Riches of the Mountain is a broken quest
I cannot imagine that this adventure is working as designed because that would mean that the design was schizophrenic.
Where to start?
Well, first of all, this adventure requires you to use approx 800 gunpowder during the course of the adventure. It's available from level 42 but you can't actually produce gunpowder until you are level 47. Even then, if you don't have that much in stock, you cannot possibly make it in time before the adventure expires. A level 5 powderhut with a x4 buff will make 60 gunpowder an hour. If you're short by more than 240 and there's none available on the TO (which is common) then you have no choice but to cancel the quest.
Likewise you will need 10 spare settlers to create the Specialist buff. If you are at max population and have fewer than ten unemployed settlers, then again you can't complete the adventure without getting a lootspot to kill off some troops first (remember that you only have four hours at most to get that organised and pop the required settlers). You can also build some more housing but a lot of high-level players don't actually have spots available on their island for this.
The scenario buffs are inconsistent. Some are using the new slider UI, while some are applied like regular buffs and there's nothing that differentiates the two systems in either the quest text or the mouseover texts. When you are destroying the sabotage building, there's no way to tell in advance which buffs are usable against which type of opponent. The quest doesn't even explain how that works, you just have to figure it out by clicking on things until you figure it out. Once you do then the buffs you have are used more or less at random to destroy the various enemy types.
All in al, this adventure is a mess and should be considered broken.
I wasn't impressed either. You need one more water-thing than is indicated, which requires an extra bucket, which you are not told about (you get told you have 10/10 - nothing about the additional one you are required to find). And you are right about the interface - it's awful. The whole thing should be re-thought or eliminated entirely.
When you click on the sabotage building content you get the new buff ui and can see what buffs can be used to the different content.
Boulder - 1 Explosive
Drunken miner - 10 glue OR 10 water splash OR 10 Explosives
Foul provision pack - 1 Specialist OR 1 water splash
Damaged pick - 1 Specialist
If I ever get it again, I'll give it another try - others have done it with no problem. But it felt very counter-intuitive to me and the instructions not clear at all.
i agree with the opinions above. it's almost completely broken. also, the resources you get at the end as a reward are less then the resources used to win this adventure. played it once, never again. interface is almost completely broken.

Yes, the interface is clunky and that can cause particular problems with the Sabotage camps, but having done a whole heap of these now I can testify to the fact that once you start using the right order with that camp (1 glue, 1 water, 9 water, 1 specialist, 1 explosive), then it is a minor problem compared to when stuff like this happens:

(...and it happens a lot)
Ooh Oh Oh
.... but the level 06 gold mine = FANTASTICO !! Although have to reschedule my goldmines and use this newest as Gold Ore Bank [ GOB-'ie' ].
Love that Pick picture with Bones !!! Indeed a nice skeleton = one of the better graphics - Keep the good spirit [ block the thinking ] and relax.
Any way blatt will stay and Go TSO .. GO TSO ... Have Fun. Thanks IainC for the Post/Thread.

Here we go again:

It can be somewhat frustrating when this kind of thing happens with other collectibles. However, when scenarios rely on you finding every single last collectible that spawn, 'invisible' collectibles such as this, and the other one I posted earlier in the thread, are a downright annoying bug!

Scenarios are not designed to be productive, they are designed to test the mental stability players.
If you can find all the collies and 1 million resources AND keep your sanity, then you are the true winner
Are people actually trying to get 1mill resources on these things? really?!
And here's another invisible collectable ;) http://prntscr.com/7rqk6v

And here's another invisible collectable ;) http://prntscr.com/7rqk6v
Looks like you got one in the exact same spot as my second screen shot, only it's a pick instead of ore.
the specialist seems to have moved in on my island - maybe to splash water on the wheat
http://prntscr.com/7troqs
I can also confirm the invisible collectible. Didn't take a screen shot but it was ore - only found it with a faerie fire. From now on if I have trouble finding them then I will worry about it and that they might be invisible and will be tempted to use more gems for more faerie fire. *groan* - shouldn't be this way
Most of the issues on this thread were already inserted in the database and I inserted the invisible collectibles also.
Thank you for the reports!

Seems RotM isn't the only scenario prone to invisible collectibles, as I encountered this during a Heart of the Wood this morning:

...and it seems that buckets have also mastered hiding in plain sight:

Not a "hidden collectible" this time but a missing one.
I collected all the collectibles Fire wood showed on the island (Quest "Collectibles" is in fact complete) but for the quest "Construction Area" I'm still missing one
(screenshot here imgur.com/wTfoor8).
Let's see if I'll get back at least the gunpowder wasted on this! the time unfortunatly that I'll not get it back for sure!!
Edit:
Looks like the community was aware of the bug but couldn't found any mention in the forum yet.
here the screenshot of the conversation (edited from the other players name for privacy ofc)

And this is the only "solution" untill now: to cancel the adventure when only 6 collectibles instead of 7 are found on the quest "Mining Supervisor-Construction Area".
And of course I cleared cache, changed browser and so on...no result. because the 7th collectible never appeared in the first place!

after cleaning the cache, log out for 15 minutes and connecting again ...this over and over for 3 times..
this is the result...

still bugged but on plus I lost the applied buff such Tavern etc (confront with the screenshot above)...
if I had not lost so much gunpowder it will actually be hilarious.
My bug had the "Collect 7 items" completed, but the firewood only 3/4. So checked with Fairy and the double checked the "invisible spawn spots" but no its broken. Reported to support who are so very sweet.
This bug been ongoing for over 12 months be good if they ever fixed it.
i have played over 40 of them never any problem here
I had problems the first time I played it but after following the guide as well as looking at notes other players have posted I don't have problems anymore. The buff interface is still a bit odd to me but I can get through it.
~~Update~~
I thought I'd update this post with information I noted while I played the scenario an hour ago so everything was fresh in my mind. 1) There was no problem finding any of the collectibles. 2) I find it odd that some buffs use the 'wheel/slider' thing but others don't, so I think that is generally confusing. 3) There are 4 locations to build buildings but you only build 3 (bugs me for some reason). 4) Following the Settler's Wiki guide is helpful and I did it in that order regardless of where the in-scenario quests were leading me but you end up with 1 extra glue which is a waste of resources.
Concerning point #1 I experienced myself the invisible collectible (I think it was a pick-axe) when I played this some time ago but this time there was no such problem. Hope any of this helps someone in the future.
just played 5 in a row still no broken quests ;)

Same issue here as Sir_Galavant - a totally missing Fire wood collectible - used a fairy fire and nothing - it just hasn't spawned at all. Tried all the usual log out and in, cache clearing etc but no joy. There really is no choice but to abandon the scenario and write off the 200 gunpowder etc spent on it. Bit of a joke that this scenario is still broken considering the number of reports I am now reading on forums .....
Sort it out Blue Byte !
not working good , put buildings in and then they are gone , make stuff to fin camp not working good
