i have done all my quests through level 7. i have no open quests until i level to 8. but i have no quests to progress. is there a bug. i've done my masons and stone deposits. i have my gemologist. folks in the help chat are puzzled as well.

thanks

Edit by Fexno:

There are several suggestions on how to get past this point. Not all suggestions work for everyone, so I guess you should try them one by one if you have troubles getting to level 8. The problem we are trying to solve here is that the quests that are supposed to appear, don't show ( see this post (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/31379-level-7-quest-bug?p=284656&viewfull=1#post284656) for a screenshot)

I'll list them here (in order of the amount of work to try)

Click on an explorer in your star menu
Browser: Clear cache and cookies (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/25422) reload the game and send out the explorer
Steam: Reinstall the game and then send out the explorer
For some players this didn't work the first time they tried, but did work the next day (after being logged out for quite some time)

Open your building menu and click on the storehouse
Reload the game
in browsers you click on the navigation bar of your browser and press CTRL+F5.
in steam I guess you go home and open the game again ( not using steam myself )
Build, demolish and rebuild your provision house

If you tried these steps and still can't continue please contact Support using the contact form on this page (http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/help-and-support) and provide them with detailed information on your problem.
Example of things you could add:
- A short description like "I am level 7 and have no more main quests in my questbook"
- A list of things you tried to resolve this issue yourself
- A screenshot of your questbook might help to resolve your problem sooner

Next to the problem above, there are also some ways to get yourself into trouble during the first 12 levels.

Don't build more buildings than asked by the quests, you might not have enough resources to continue later on.
If you did manage to end up in this situation it is probably best to contact Support, although demolishing buildings will give you back some of the resources
If you log out and leave for 12 hours (or so) during the initial quests, you might end up with a full storage while a quest asks you to transfer resources from you star menu to your storage.
Usually you can demolish and rebuild your tavern once or twice to free up some space in your storage
If you look and find deposits before a quest asks you to, it might be a long time before the desposit depletes and you can search again to complete the quest.
You need to wait till a stone deposit is depleted, but Copper mines can be removed by starting to build a mine and canceling the build order

Hello Kypris,

I am assuming that you don't see a "main quests" category in your questbook and that you already reloaded the game to see if that helped.
In that case I have no idea what else you could try yourself.

Please contact Support using the contact form on this page (http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/help-and-support) and provide them with detailed information on your problem.
Things you could add:
- A short description like "I am level 7 and have no more main quests in my questbook"
- A list of things you tried to resolve this issue yourself
- A screenshot of your entire questbook might help to resolve your problem faster

Fexno

Fexno
20.08.15, 08:53
Hmm you are naming 3 main quests now. Let us focus on one and see if we can figure out the problem.
Can you post a screenshot of your entire questbook while you have the "First Buff" quest selected.

If you are unsure how to post a screenshot use this link: http://www.thesettlersonlinewiki.com/uploader.html
After uploading it will give you a line to copy and paste in your post.

Also often advised to log out and back in again (or just refresh the page).

Sometimes (luckily rarely though) the game misses a bit of information from the server and can halt progress. This used to mostly be it missing an xp award and forgetting to level up the player.

Always worth a try anyway, doesn't take long to refresh :) Good luck

this seems to be a common problem cropping up with the new Steam players

Try to open your building menu and selecting a storehouse. (you don't have to build it)
This might trigger the quests in your questbook.

Please let us know here if that solved the issue

The Storehouse is a level 8 building, if it can be selected at 7 something really is hinky. On the test server stuck level 7 can be sorted by selecting the Explorer but that doesn't seem to be working here.

Edit: Turns out clicking the Explorer, sometimes many times, has been working here. Especially after logging out for at least 15 minutes. While the Storehouse is a level 8 building clicking the greyed icon in the build menu, without building anything, seems to work for some people as well.

Out of curiosity, and while this doesn't seem to be affecting everyone, has anyone using UPlay or Facebook on http://www.thesettlersonline.com/ been stuck like this or is it definitely Steam-specific?

Edit: From feedback in various areas including this thread, thanks Lothoread, it's not a Steam-specific issue, though it shows more obviously with all the new people coming in via Steam.

Looking at the steam forums it appears it may be bugged because people have done quests before the chain requests told them to do so:

"BB Pandur: - I requested some help for that particular start quest issues. Basically, they appear when you do things (that you are not yet supposed to do) too early in the game. We look into this and I come back to you here asap"

proven by another player:

"I finally managed to fix the issue by tearing down the provision house (that I had built earlier already) and then sending the explorer out to do more exploring again."

so this may be the reason and at least one fix

Hi I am having this issue, can not level up past 7 and all quests/sub quests are finished: I followed all the recommended fixes and none have worked including taking down the PH. I am not on steam and have followed the quests to the letter.

It is very important for new settlers to follow the tutorial ( first 17 levels ) without doing / building
anything that is not a quest !!!!
You need to wait for a quest to be active before building something new / searching for deposits or land or buying something in the merchant.

If you follow the tutorial, you will reach level 17 in about 1,5 hour ( continues play ) where after that, you can buy / build / explore
how ever much you please.

I keep reading this line its getting very old very quickly. Reality check here I have followed the Quests as per with no jumping ahead, and have followed your sticky plaster solutions too, I have tried them all more than once and am now bored and frustrated with this- what I now consider to be a fob off. I am not on Steam and yet I find myself unable to move beyond level 7, your fixes and work around's are obviously not the solution here for everyone and it has become evidently clear you don't know what is wrong. This is happening to many, too many players are being effected for it to be all the players fault and not all players are on Steam, what you have is a Black Swan, something unexpected, meaning there is something wrong with your game and you need to fix it. So with the greatest of respect stop blaming all the players and do please sort it out-work the problem not the players. As for support I respectfully request you tell them to get a response out to me its been over 24hrs!

Lothoread, have you sent an actual ticket to support via the support contact form, or have you only posted here? Support will contact you via the email you used to sign up to the game. You get an auto-reply at first, then a reply from someone from support. This can take some time if they have a large amount of tickets to deal with.

A suggestion from earlier today:

[11:36] Pannie: for those stuck with the level 7 bug.. clicking the explorer didn't help me yesterday, but after i logged out overnight and came back, clicking the explorer opened new quests

Whether that was something to do with logging out for at least 15/20 minutes so the server resyncs or something in the nightly script that runs in the wee hours (BST), or just sheer dumb luck isn't clear but it's something to consider. On returning run through the list of suggestions again and see if something works that didn't before.

See the first post: here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/31379-level-7-quest-bug).

Unable to progress any further. Will not allow building of Provisions building or storage. Will not allow to add settlers to Mayor's house.

Have done: Explorer, Geologist, plenty of wood and stone, fishing, buffed food. Have emptied 'cookies' on computer, rebooted computer.

Unable to upgrade to provide more storage. Bought jewels for upgrade, game will not allow it.

What else can be done?

Had a friend recently sign up and they have this problem too. Got to level 7 and couldn't proceed.

Had a look and it seems the "First Buff" quest is the one at fault, as she completed the first part "Complete the quest Food usage" but the next part, "Complete the quest The Provision House" never activated despite only requiring level 7. So now she is stuck at level 7 and she has tried relogging but has no way of getting more experience.

I've just gotten my quests back and I'm using Steam. After being stuck for a couple of hours and trying all the aforementioned fixes (nothing worked for me).
Here's what I did.
On your Steam account page right click on the Settlers Online file and select Properties at the bottom. Then select Local Files then select Verify Integrity of Game Cache. For myself this produced "1 file failed to validate and will be re-aquired"
I then re checked with no errors.
I reloaded Settlers and still nothing worked.
I exited my steam account and logged back in 30 minutes later.
On re entry nothing changed but when sending the explorer out explore new quests started popping up again.
I'm now on level 8 and proceeding as I expected.

I am playing with UPlay and I am stuck in the same exact way.
