View Full Version : Daily and guild quests not completing: Trade and Buff a Friend
Asks you to buff a friend and be buffed by a friend. I have now buffed 3 friends and the quest won't recognise it. Not a BIG BUG, BUT ANNOYING.
It was working before today.

Buy 5 carriages guild quest doesn't register the action so can't complete the quest. Anyone having similar issue? Or do I just need to contact support about that?

I have seen a lot of players today unable to do the buff a friend dq.
Today, one daily quest and one guild quest. In both cases it took two players to both do their end. Explanation:
I sent a player 5 wheels in return for some fish, then sent a trade asking for wheels and giving fish. Result: Their quest completed, mine didn't.
Then that same player did the same thing from their end, and mine completed.
This was repeated for a different quest with a different player. When they made the offer, mine completed but theirs didn't. When I made the offer, theirs completed.
So it does seem like there is something going on since I saw this twice in the same morning and one player involved was my wife sitting 2 feet away from me and we could check each other's screens and know it wasn't a silly mistake.
I wonder if something has changed...

The issue is that at least 3 other guild members can't complete their low level gq - buffing somebody's buildings either. Any workaround for that?

I saw that post somewhere and off the top of my head I can't think of anything since it's only one direction so-to-speak.
Glad the other suggestion worked. Since this is clearly affecting many people, there has been a code change whether intended or not.
I have buffed my friends with the required buffs for my guild quest. the buff is applied but the game is not noticing I have completed these tasks for the guild quest. I have tried reloading and different friends but still it is not noticing I have completed these tasks. I know a few others in my guild have had this issue.
Problems with completing quests involving other players is now on several posts. When it's goods of some kind, seems that both players doing the trade will take care of it. For the buffing, it doesn't look like anything works.

Same problem here. I just received this gq 1 hour ago, used already 30+ fish platters on friends or guild members, the counter remain to zero.And no, I do not try to solve a waiting quest, it is the active guild quest, named "The landlords" subcategory for lvl 25-35 players " The assembled patrol".

Possible way round it? Don't know but try clicking on the friend's collects, they are seen as buffs by the game. As I said not got the bug but may work?
So what's the next course of action? Do we just give up on guild quests untill it is fixed? Does info from here get to developers to have a look at it, or do we need to contact support specifically?
Same problem with my guild quest, "Personal army", subquest "The right number", asking me to "buff at least 10 of your friend's buildings using Solid Sandwiches.". I've tried buffing friends as well as guild members. The buffs are removed from my inventory and the friend' buildings acquire that buff-glow. However, the quest still shows 0/10 buffs given.
I had a daily quest to buff 3 buildings of a friend. Tried all the variations I could think of (friend, guildie, 3 different people) and it didn't help, the quest didn't register as completed. (Ended up cancelling it.)

one of our members is having problems completing the above quest(part of the White Pets GQ) . She says she has done wgats required but the quest won't complete,any one having similar problems

This doesn't work. The Strong Allies daily quest is currently not completable. No buffs placed on friend's buildings register at all for the quest.
This is affecting two kinds of quests:
1) buff a friend with x amount of buffs type quest, these do not count any buffs placed on a friends island, work around none that I know of.
2) trade x amount of resource, using direct trade and trade office, any trades set up by the quest owner do not register for this quest. work around this can be done by getting a friend or guildy to set up the trades for you and send them directly - so if you need to buy 10 fish, your friend sends you the 10 fish and vice versa.
If these are just daily quests then they can also be cancelled, but these two problems are affecting guild quests, so guildys cannot complete their guild quest if it involves buffing, and also it seems these issues are affecting players who need to do these quests for the tutorial.
today's guild quest of buffing at least 10 buildings of a friend using solid sandwiches do not work. It does not count any of the buffs
Yes the Buff friends with X buffs i can confirm it is bugged... had to cancel it too.
Just got another daily quest to sell 100 exotic wood.
Selling to a friend isn't recognised, but selling to the community is ok.
It seems that guildquests and daily quest start to become a problem. Had same problem with daily this morning. Sold 100 water but after acceptance it remains open.
Atm i'm hearing sounds from several guildmembers that they are not able to finish their guildquest.
our guild has the same problem, guild quests trades are bugged. Anyone knows if it will be sorted out soon?

If the GQ is a trade quest you can get it to complete by getting someone to send you the requested trade, buff quest no workaround unfortunately.

Guild quest, Fun with Snow, level 46 to 50 'do 2 advs and SELL 50 cannons to other players. Fantastic, worked for me, hasn't worked for most of guild. Hence we are stuck. Cannot cancel gq (Bug 1) cannot register the trades (Bug 2).
But we are a resilient bunch here, can get it to work by doing the trades totally the wrong way round. Sell one stone for the cannons and the other person then sells one stone to you for the cannons back - total reverse of what the quest says of course as you both SOLD a stone, hahahaha.

Same here, also a daily quest.
Same happened today had to buy 100 bread.
Couldn't buy direct from a friend and friend then set up an offer on the market to sell 100 bread which I completed. Still doesn't complete the quest.

tabman, get your friend to send the trade direct, not put it in the trade office
This thread "GQ will not complete" and the thread: Daily and guild quests not completing (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/31699-Daily-and-guild-quests-not-completing) are the same, and both are a bit of a jumble of issues.
Above threads merged.
The core problems appear to be less that Dailies and GQs aren't completing but that certain Trade Quests and Buff Quests are bugged.
The workaround for the Trade problem, also affecting: "The Trade" Level 12 Tutorial Trade Quest (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/31701-quot-The-Trade-quot-Level-12-Tutorial-Trade-Quest) seems fairly consistently to be "Have someone else make the offer."

There doesn't seem be a workaround for Buff Quests not registering.

cant do quest when buffing friends. its a daily quest, so its like not important. But our guild cant finish GQ, because many players have a quest "buff a friend" .. and it doesnt work....it has to be solved, please
I am the last to finish my guild quest, and to keep the guild happy. But I can't. I have to buff 5 solid sandwiches and Irma on friend. I try buffing guildies...I try to buff friends...And the quest is still undone.....What I have to say?

This has been posted in many different threads.... I understand it may take time to correct but I'm surprised with the lack of any official response to it
it goes on since last maintenance...would think its enough time to fix if anyone would pay attention....:(
So...all week and GQ is not completed, because smth is wrong with the game..and, nobody cares, except players.. Tomorrow we all will have a new GQ all week wasted. What about oncomming quests??
May be Administration should take OUT all quests with buffing, if they can NOT fix the problem..

Indeed. The key for this workaround is to accept a trade, (not to offer one).
After maintenance and guild quest reset we are stuck in the same situation as before: No way to finish.

I had a trade quest that I couldn't complete with either player initiating the trade.
It worked when using the Trade Office.
But it's annoying, since I can't do the reverse trade thingy so easily as anyone may pick up the "freebie".
The "buff 3 friends" quest, I simply cancelled it as it was impossible. I used over 30 buffs, maybe 5 different types on a total of 6 different players and no result.

After last maintenance cant complete any daily quest that needs me to trade items or buff other people.
I had 2 dailies today. One was have a friend buff your island, other was buy 50 Xbow.
When a friend visited to buff, both got solved- I did not buy anything at all from anyone,
The quests are having a life of their own.

Indeed... one of my DQs today required me to acquire 100 and sell 50 horses. I set a trade in the TO to sell some, thinking I would get that part done and turn my stables on later in the day. However, with no way to acquire horse active, the quest was fully completed after the horses were sold.
I just hope these issues are not going to prevent completion of Halloween quests, as it is not looking like a fix will be incoming before the event starts.
