It would be nice if there was a visual cue when a mine got below 20 ore or so. Perhaps a red glow around the mine, with a little popup window that you could toggle on/off that informed you that one was getting low? Trying to keep track of my dying mines is doable, but a little frustrating.

The red glow sounds like a workable idea for both mines and quarries, but with a possible 60+ mines and quarries that could mean a lot of popups appearing at once.

One of the skills needed for this game is learning how to manage level 5,6 & 7 mines. A level 6 copper mine on a fast deposit may only have just 4 minutes of life left once it's down to 20 ore.

You're right, but that's why I said toggleable on/off in the options for the popups. I acknowledge that it could get annoying for some people. Maybe the popup could be set to a threshold, so players could decide at what point they want to be notified?

+1 for a red glow -1 for the popup

Same here.
Another option could be a color change in the economic summary when a mine is reaching some level like 5% or so?
