hmm his has been happening since the game update ONLY happens if I switch to another tab for any length of time, and/or alt tab or switch to another screen when I come back to the game its frozen and then requires me to reload the game says server fails
Im doubting very much its this PC since it only started after the game update, and nothing else has changed plus it all so does this in FF & Chrome

This popup appears every time after the game has finished loading and I am unable to play.
Ok I got in.
The trick is to not click on the tick on the popup that redirects to homepage but refresh using browser.
Refreshing browser did not work for me
log out and wait over 15 min and then try again.

I just had that message a couple of times trying to visit a friends island, kept kicking me out to login page, but i could still get into the game and visit other friends. I can now visit the friend that kept kicking me from the game

Was playing this morning, found out that all gens I had in my adventure were duplicated on my home island (incl troops).
Now I cant get on anymore: "An error was detected on this zone. please try again"
Sent a ticket, but hope they do something fast, waisting a free day with lots of adventures planned

The "Server shutdown" issue is currently being investigated.
If the servers are being shut down,you should receive an in-game message and this will be announced on the homepage.
If you are getting this error, please clear cache and cookies and try again to get into the game, as this is a false error (unless the homepage says otherwise) and the servers should allow you back in eventually.
I will let you know as soon as more details become available.
Special request from the devs looking into this issue:
Can you please add a comment in this thread when you receive the "Server shutdown" error, with the exact time you received it at (and your time zone)?
Please don't do this for any other type of errors, just for the ones saying "The server is going to be shut down for maintenance purposes. Please try again later."
This would make it easier for the devs as they will be able check our records and get to the bottom of this issue.

mine was sometime between 9 and 9.30 am CET today I think, if that helps.
had it now - friday 8:33 am CET - when trying to visit a friend
around 8:15 I visited same with no errors
time now 8:40
logged in visited another friend - ok - tried first friend again - error
logged in visited a third friend - ok - tried first friend again - error
time now 8:55
now now errors
around 8:45 had error when visiting a friend - tried to visit some other friends - including the first with error - no errors

chrome browser- cleared cache etc no help, tried IE same thing. guessing problem at BB's end.
logged out for 30 minutes that cleared problem.

I have had this message several times now and it seems to be when i come onto the forum move around , look at new posts then go back to my isle. Within a few moments this message comes up. Now I know you want the times etc. I will report them here if it happens again.
It is really annoying and i am now staylng logged out for several hours at a time rather than play the game.

I'm getting the shut down message right now - I'm in London UK, time is 10.42am, I'm using the slim browser version
So .... is there a maintenance shut down? Or is it a bug??
Havent been able to log in for 20-30 mins now. Time 11.49 GMT+1 Stockholm.
Cleared cache and history, but still nothing. Doesnt even work in the slim browser.

Got the Server Shutdown message 11.17 a.m. GMT. Based UK.
Actions at the time. Had just saved a post on the forum and returned to my isle .
Managed to get back in in 3 mins.

I'm getting the same thing. Have tried to login several times and the get the same message that lulu and norfik have posted screenshots of. It started at about 3.40pm GMT, I'm GMT-5 here.
got shutdown message 20:10 - CET - when trying to visit a friend.

now friday morning and again im getting same message on home page (server will shut down for maintenance),no mention of any maintenance on home page either,bb your a joke.
This is a known problem and bb asks that you post exact times that this happens to you so they can look into it

it just happened to me too (for the first time) while trying to visit and buff up an offline friend from the Friends List, around 08:20 CET
i clicked the tick box and it did refresh my game normally

cannot login, the same msg, honestly id like to ask what are you really doing about game performance and bugs? because its getting worse. every week, i have some issue or bug experience, i dont see any improvement, is it still beta version?

I can not log in yet this morning Saturday 13th February 09:10 to 09:20 U.K. time. Tried several times on 2 different browsers, Chrome and Firefox.
I keep getting the server will be shutting down for maintenance purposes message. I closed browsers and cleared cache before every attempt, I will try again shortly.
Now got in 09:40 U.K time.

Been happeing for me today as well, but did get in after trying a few times.

Happened to me just now while trying to get back onto my sons of little tailor adv...running chrome, 19.00 UK time, Newfoundland. Refreshed and managed to get in on the 2nd attempt

Sundaymorning 21 february 08.30 System says Server is going down for maintenance purpose. No information on mainpage.
Update: did remove temporarily internet files and started again. Problem solved.

At 0850 (About) i tried to log on and had the incorrect message "server about to shut down for maintenance" - luckily it only took 3 tries for me to be able to log on. Understand this has happened before to some people and that we were to notify BB via forum.

30 min logout cured.
Guys, this is still being investigated, but our Dev Team just informed us they don't need extra reports about the exact time it is occurring any more.

My Story (Using Chrome)
Was getting Shutdown message when visiting a specific friends Island - having previously visited 20 mins earlier.
Did the clear cache/internet files thing with no success.
Logged on using IE and was successful which seemed to clear the problem when using Chrome.

This is just getting worse and worser,i get that Message evry day multiple times when try to log inn..and it sends me back to front page,i dont now if its only me or this happens With more People,i have tryed to delete catche didnt work,i have tryed With other like crome,mozzilla,explorer get the same Message,i noticed i started to get this after the maintaince,where it should be the last we had,its very annoying trying to log inn evry day for more then 10 min,my only Guess is that bluebyte loses players because of this.....i am addicted so i stay on it lol...but my question is we gonna se a fix on this and when?

This morning, Sunday 28/02/16 at 09:08 U.K. time I received the Maintenance message and could not log in, I tried a couple of times with no luck, so I left it for 20 minutes and successfully logged in about 09:30. Thank you.
I got this message first time today. I was on an adventure map (Nords) and tried to change to an ls adventure (BLT) and then I got this message that Server is going to shutdown for maintenance and got thrown to frontpage. Had to re-load the game. After that game has been working.
Although there is no maintenance announced I cannot log in - getting message again that the server is about to close for such activity - anyone reading this please advise Pilgrim of FRE guild for me - thanks.

I still cant get in Blue. Same message for me across 3 different browsers, 4 if you include the thin client one. I have cleared cache etc in all and rebooted etc.
Oh well, one more attempt them I'm going to see what the outside world looks like.

This may not help at all, but there have been times things have been odd and completely closing all browser windows and restarting the browser seems to fix more things then just refreshing.
You've probably tried that but I thought I'd mention it.
Just came back from work and wanted to log in, tried 3 times - always get the same message.

finally made it, but it's not normal to try 10 times to get in
I had the same earlier, rebooted computer and could get on again, otherwise just keep trying.

same issue again here - cleared cache/cookies/DNS constant message and not allowing access.
Our Dev Team is confident to have found the root cause of the false "Server Shutdown" message and an improvement is currently being worked on.
We plan to test this improvement on the next test server version.
If the improvement proves to successfully eliminate the faulty maintenance pop-up, a special game update might be conducted next week aiming to correct this issue.
Please be aware this is preliminary info and it is subject to change.

Please hurry with the fix,Its my 2. day getting server shut down/ main message and getting kicked out of game (impossible to get back in) have to load game 5 or 6 times and we do have event now,so please hurry :(

35mins so far of trying to login with constant 'The server is going to shut down for maintenance purposes' messages at load screen.
Come on, time to focus on fixing some things rather than fiddling round the edges. Can be as much super-duper new stuff as you like but if we cannon login it is all a waste.

logout for 30min and try again. during this time the servers will inactivate your island and hopefully clear the error.

I had same message during my island hopping - trying to place party crasher buffs. I wondered if it was because of all this extra traffic - we must all be doing more 'hopping' in the easter event.
I found last night doing 5 'Where do easter egg's come from?' adventures, the constant hopping from adventure to home island provision house, led to longer and more clumsy delays - though I was never thrown out of the game like this morning.
Overall I am finding it takes a lot longer to log-in and load the game than before the easter event.
Am back in the game now - only took one attempt.

I had it today - tried a few times. Went to another machine, got in fine. Went back to the first machine after 1/2 hour or so, got in fine.
Weird.
happening yet again this is getting tiresome added to the delay in switching maps starting to feel like a facebook game
tried chrome, firefox, opera and edge same error on all but if my wife logs in on my laptop she gets in straight away so isnt my connection nor my laptop seems to be account specific

I'm in the middle of a colony, and the pop up appeared when I wanted to get more troops from my island ! The maintenance is supposed to take place in 40 min, really hope it will solve this issue ...

Just got this moving general on Bandits nest 21.25 BST , got straight back in though.
This isn't exactly the same issue but I'm not sure where the thread is where I think I've seen it mentioned. Twice lately (once when going to an adventure and once when returning from one) I was told the server was going down for maintenance then I was forced back to the login page. I could log in again and everything was normal so it's really just a curiosity. It was a few days ago and has not repeated since.
