Tried with Chrome, IE and FF, always same result. Is this normal to waste one of hard obtained books?

It is just a cosmetic bug,your geo still has a 15% chance to find quality shafts, if you put 1 more book it will show 30%.

A while back the graphics/text bug went for Explorers: [FIXED] Graphics glitch: Lucky detour -> increased to 0% (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27284-FIXED-Graphics-glitch-Lucky-detour-gt-increased-to-0) but like the Geo now, their actual behavior was also unchanged.

Not fixed, now it shows 8% chance to find quality shafts ( and not 15%)
