View Full Version : beginners offers- a fools errand?
I looked at the offers, just for a laugh-
i think i need to cry- esp for newbies that will actually take BB up on the offer
The prices are so out of tune with the game reality it is really sad. For a halfway decent amount of these basic goods, the gem costs is soo extremely high that you will just drive the people that took you up on the offer away from the game
Sorry- the dev that came up with these prices needs to be booted off the team and made to sweep the office floors instead
even cutting em by 90% the stuff is overprices compared to markets- even compared to markets 3 or so years ago... so the argument of newer servers having a use for these items is not even realistic
Waste of effort- alas so is my post i fear
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if BB *reduced* the gem costs then they could potentially sell more. For instance gem upgrades for buildings? seriously has anyone looked at the cost of these? has anyone *ever* intentionally used gems for a level 6 upgrade? 7500 gems for a farm? that's about £30! now if it was say 200 gems then I for one would gem the upgrade instead of lose production for a week/10 days.
Gem prices in this game are out of touch with gameplay and IMHO are deliberately exploitative of new players.

+1
These prices are aimed at those who want it now and have silly amounts of disposable funds to throw at the game, BB know full well most of these players wont last more than a few days.
I wish I could warn new players (most of which I expect haven't investigated the forum) that the prices are ridiculous and to not fall for these offers. You can get the basic items for tiny amounts of gold on the market. I hope at least they start checking the trade office as soon as possible and notice that for themselves.
I think the concept isn't bad but the execution is horrible. When I first saw the information I expected to see perhaps 5 gems for 1000 stone, 1000 pinewood planks, 500 marble, 500 tools - or something to that scale.
I think Dorotheus has a point too - people that willing to throw away what clearly are the special-bonus-can't-normally-find-them items like gems will not handle the balancing nature of the game very well and won't get very far.
seems that marketing have no idea whatsoever about the value of resources to players
why would ANYONE spend 245 gems on 250 bread and 250 brew...
when you can spend 95 gems on a noble deed, sell it for 5k gold coins, and buy approximately 60,000 of each?

Id guess the marketing person who came up with this particular offer has never played TSO.
If I'm wrong, that person needs to look for another job as they clearly haven't a clue and live in cloud cuckoo land
I'm not sure this is much different to someone posting a ridiculously high trade in the trade office, their not aiming for the masses to buy it, their looking for that 1 mug out there. Let's face it, exploitation or not its still a business.

well they got plenty of stock, laughing stock that is ;)
This offer is appalling and it's no wonder it's seen as taking advantage of the newer players! Any new player who needs 250 brew, for example, only needs to ask for help (in Trade Channel, of course), and many older players would simply ask him to do a fish trade for it- essentially, for free. I think Xibor is right in as much as it's a good idea to have a starter pack for newbies, but the expense is terrible- for those gem prices, they should be able to get many 1000's in resources, not a paltry couple of hundred.
