:( another writing competition - wish it was something that didn't involve writing a story as for so many on this server english/german is not their native tongue

talk about anticlimax. maybe some will find this interesting but i was hoping for something to do inside the game that was more exciting than this offering. im not a great writer so i wont be taking part

yep stick to my op yawnfest time for the select few... is this so the players can do BB job as they have ran out of ideas that actually work seeing the winning post gets implemented into the game?

also rather underwhelmed by this, and it seems a few on the German forum are too.

Maybe we've been spoiled in the past, but I rather expected a nice little mini crisis package to launch Excelsior, not a creative writing section that not all can take part in (due largely to people not being of the creative writing ilk, perhaps?)

BB_Orowa states on the German forum that of course, we are not obliged to participate and this is a test to measure direct interaction. Didn't we have a test similar a couple of weeks ago with some letter writing?, and wasnt it kind of lacking in participation? I'd reiterate that maybe creative writing isn't for most who play the game, or even many find it just plain boring.

I will try and give it a go, and I hope many more do as well, but after all the apparent hype, on this occasion it really hasn't delivered..

***EDIT*** my comments are guided at the term "event" used by BB and not the free gifts, which as always, are most gratefully received :)

To receive the e-mail i think you need to fulfil all these criteria:

1) you need to have your e-mail validated for the forum
2) you need to have ticked the "subscribe to newsletter option" in your profile section linked from the front page
3) Steam and FB log-ins are linked to a Ubisoft account
4) your account is not dormant at the time the newsletter is sent (ie you have been recently active on the account)

Please check the Spam or Junk folders of your e-mail, and ensure that you have no auto-filters set for ubisoft mails.
Newsletters aren't sent retrospectively, so if you validated, or ticked the newsletter option after seeing others talking about the bonus gift you won't receive it this time around.

If you think you should have received a newsletter mail, and haven't, please contact support.

While it is normally a fast delivery system unless they have made improvements e-mails can take upto 72 hours to be delivered.

Bah, didn't even know there was a 'receive newsletter' option until I found out I was missing out on the goodies. Thanks for the checklist though, Houri.

My email is validated, otherwise i could not post here, newsletter is checked since 2015 christmas (i have missed that gift too, that's why i remember on this) and i log in daily, my account is not linked to steam or fb, it's a standalone settlers account, hence this i havent got the email.
i hope bb don't use an old list.

Been said loads of times but try again. Many players cannot validate their emails as they either used one-shot emails to start the game or, like my son, used school emails which no longer exist so cannot be validated. Contacting BB gets mail from support saying that as registered via Ubisoft then has to be done there. Contacting Ubisoft gets the reply that BB need to sort it, and round and round it goes.... The players who have this issue cannot even say so on the forum so it will never be resolved; they also cannot use any vouchers which come via game mail, farcebook etc, basically they are stuck. Why not simple send all the gifts directly via game mail, that way you reward those who are actually playing. Those who have quit aren't going to come back to the game for a few buffs and/or a refill.

If the player knows the e-mail address that they registered with, and it is a Ubisoft account, they can change it themselves, with no need to contact support.

Details on how to do this are here (https://support.ubi.com/en-us/faqs/000024718). The new e-mail address can then be validated for the forum and newsletters.

If the account was made through Steam or Facebook, then e-mail change would need to be done through the procedures there.

If only it was that easy. The reason they/he has to then contact Ubi/BB support is to change the email to a new one Ubi send an email to the old one to make sure it is not someone else.

System simply doesn't get how real life works.

Ubi send an email to the old one to make sure it is not someone else

ah, right. that doesn't help in this case then.

i guess this is a warning for people to a) not use disposable e-mails, and b) change e-mails when you know you are going to lose access to the one you have. :)

I've heard that you can change your email address in the profile settings (not using uplay) without access to the old e-mail. The new validation mail is sent to the new address.

Houri3_old

you can change your email address in the profile settings

You can indeed. IF you validated your e-mail for the forum. If you didn't, you can't access your forum profile to change email.

To do this go:

Front page -> My profile -> Data Change

OR

Front page -> My profile -> To the Forum Profile, and scroll down to
