trying to play this adventure, but it's not letting my troops attack? what am I doing wrong?

Follow one of the guides on the Wiki page (http://settlersonlinewiki.eu/en/adventures/ventures/valuable-intel/) and make sure to complete the side quests in the correct order to continue the fight

As Daz said, you probably have to do something else before you can attack. Look at the guide and read your quest objectives.

havent done this one but darked out crosses means you cant move till you have completed something else what does the quest say to do usually from looks of it prob make lockpicks and use them maybe hard to tell when no idea where you are in the quest line
