View Full Version : Global chats/modding/lack of...

I never thought I'd be here saying this, but the lack of MODs in global chats in the past month is taking it's toll. This game has always been praised for it's low tolerance of trolls/innuendo etc etc.
I have seen in recent weeks more swearing, more politics, more sexual innuendo and downright rudeness than I thought would ever be tolerated here, and I don't like it.
If this is the way forward, then I think I may jack it all in - I'm certainly no angel, but I genuinely try to keep un-moderated chat in guild where I'm comfortable enough to handle it when necessary.
Is order going to be restored in the near future BB ?
I have to agree with Jolly, and its not a criticism of the remaining Mods, but its clear to see they are spread a little thin over the three worlds. I know they have chat history and can act `after the fact' . But it doesn't stop those breaking the rules there and then and can encourage others down that path. I've closed chat several times since our three Modskateers departed, something I have not done in a couple of years, and that was due to Hugfest Lol
I know what some would say...volunteer...believe me you don't want to weaponise Larili by giving her a hammer...but I will be very nice to any new Mod that should appear ;)

You mean global doesnt feel like a concentration camp anymore? Might even check it out then.
No, it doesnt have to be anarchy but at minimum 3 public reactions to even the slightest of mistakes made it unusable.

I agree with jolly, at least in Sandycove its a bit messed up here sometimes, in global chat and even in help, it's clear the game has a lack of control on chat.
For anyone that feels up to the task and wishes to apply, instructions can be found here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/33892-Moderator-Recruitment)
sadly it's true i almost lived in G1 as much as guild and have actually given up reminding other after being told out right that it was spamming time and no mods were around at that time ever...is rather sad tho often we didn't see them NZ Daytime the fact they could and sometimes did appear use to be enough to have most respect the rules...lately they don't just push the boundary's, they take a run and simply dont care who's around. even guild chat shows more respect of others than what i've sadly been witness to in g1...
I'm glad so many of you feel this way but unfortunately we do seem to be understaffed just recently. You can always report any offenders via a support ticket for the team to look at their earliest convenience and action will be taken if it is deemed necessary. Please include screenshot and times where applicable.

a huge +1 - I have been avoiding g1 as much as i can of late, the goings on at times are quite offensive and in no way pegi7
but its not limited to there, rules are broken constantly all over chat these days and surprisingly from long term players who should know better.
Even before the loss of mods AU/NZ daytime was mostly unmoderated and could get out of hand but the situation of late is much worse.
Can BB not bribe the departed mods with goodies and get them back?
Maybe ya'll on Sandy need to take a long look in the mirror. On Northisle it's business as usual mostly. Miss talking to the nice mods, but flagrant rules abusers we don't have what I've noticed.
Hey guys - thanks for your concerns.
It's true that we're not at full strength right now and that coverage isn't balanced, but that will change in the very near future. We have a line of candidates to go through, however bear in mind that the interviewing process takes time; we're not going to bend our standards just because we're under a little pressure. You all deserve moderators who you can trust and respect.
If you think you have what it takes to join the Moderator team, please see this thread (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/33892-Moderator-Recruitment) of details.
In the meantime, please report any abuse of the rules via our support ticket. We will look at each one, and take action where required. As our lovely residential MOD_Daz suggested, including a screenshot as evidence really helps our investigation into such matters.
I'll be closing this thread now, but be assured that this concern is one of our top priorities.
