View Full Version : Trade mistake

Is there any way to retrieve an object that has been sold on false premises?
I used a phone browser to start a sale, but the price I wanted wasn't properly put in so the object sold for 1 coin (fat finger sale ).
I wrote the player to reverse the sale, but of course he isn't answering, but probably laughing maniacally over his score.
I know it's just a game but I would really like to get the object back.
Is the only way to hope for other players goodwill in those cases?

So many people in this world are selfish greedy people and it just shows that something as mundane as above brings out the inner greed side in people. Hope he loses something and wants it back, but people will just laugh at him.

most players are very cool about mis-trades, sadly you do get some greedy nasty players though :(
There is no way to get your item back if the player decides to be mean. Sorry you had a bad experience, most players are nicer than that

Agree with the above. I've had both happen. The vast majority of the players I've dealt with have cooperated with me. I think there will always be some that don't think of 'fair' the same way others do, [removed]

Devil's advocate post:

I know someone in old guild who deliberately advertised a lot of good stuff in a fit of "i'm sick of this game and I'm quitting" pique, and then later tried to get it all back in a "it was an accident, please give it back". He did get some back, but HE was the scammer that time.

Ask but don't expect is my advice. The first reply is also good advice. We've all bought and sold too quickly. I recently picked up a bargain: 40k planks for a snip 20k iron ore the other day.:rolleyes: I took it on the chin and felt happy for the fool that offered that in the first place and got away with it.

I get more annoyed at the everyday greed of people who only ever advertise at max possible prices. Relax and play the not-game, [removed]

????? There was no insult, but a reminder of what WAS there might be helpful.

You just mentioned it "possible" why do you call it a greed? also, it is a free market, and each players has a right to put whatever he think is good for him, also this thread about "mistakes" not about the greed or unfair offers! (that depends on player view)

Most players like to buy with cheapest price, buy with highest price, this is just normal, and not called greed! this way the trade stay stable and not broken down to lowest prices to make TO useless at all.

Lovely logical pedantry. Good effort ;-)

And most of the offers I'm talking about *don't* actually sell. Someone is chancing their arm and that is their right I guess, but it makes the TO a bulked out bore full of nothing much you're going to buy unless you're really desperate or new and daft.

It's fairly easy to feel what is a "fair price". I know several players who I'll buy from just because they don't try to rip anyone off, but I'm positive they're making a profit. It's up to you though. I have 300k pinewood logs I'll sell you for a Frozen Manor by all means. I probably won't put it on TO though. Message me in-game ;-)

Without veering off into politics and ethics as I fear we may disagree very badly, I bid you good night.

One thing you have not factored in with regard to pricing and `greed', is when players use the TO to keep production going or to star small amounts when storage is full/nearly full. In these cases they are priced NOT to sell, although I am still amazed that some still do in my case, even when there are cheaper lots on at the same time! I have to conclude that some just don't have coin but have granite and are desperate for those resources I have placed.....everyone puts value relating to their own circumstance I guess ;)

All you can do is mail the other player explaining your mistake and hope they are good enough to return the trade. If not then do remember it cost you nothing in the first place and move on.

Accidentally selling items you're trying to store in the star, or are quick posting to retrieve for an "acquire"/"gather or produce" quest, is fairly easy to avoid. Just set the cost for something that either doesn't really exist on your server, and to be certain ask for a lot of them, for example 10 of the very old Football adventures:

Or something that does exist but is somewhat rare and expensive, for example 10 of the Frozen Manor or Bone Church or 10,000 of a fancy Military unit:

It will still look strange, and there is still a very slim chance someone might actually be able, and choose, to pay a price like that but it's extremely unlikely.

With Easter incoming and Eggs on the horizon it is worth taking extra care posting trades and purchasing, since in the end there's not a lot be done in the event of a mistake gone wrong. Like a number of people have mentioned; most people will be okay swapping back a mistake if asked nicely, but every now and again someone won't.
