What is it about?

The basic idea is to allow the players to put more than one building order for one type of mines into the building queue.

The idea is simple:

Right now, in order to generate a building order and to build a mine, one has (1) to open the building menue, (2) leftclick on the mine in question, (3) move the mousepointer over the deposit in question, and (4) to leftclick the said deposit.

Now, the idea is that if step (2) or (4) are perfomed with e.g. SHIFT or CTRL pressed, the intelligent mouse cursor is activated. What does that mean?

That means that if the button (CTRL or SHIFT or whatever) is pressed and held, it keeps the building ready so you can drop it whereever you want. Be it a Mine, a Well, a Wheatfield etc. Just like some Star menu buildings work right now, if you have 2 or more in Star and you place 1, you can keep placing until you run out. That way it would be universal for ALL buildings and still give you full control and consistency over your buildings/building queue.*

How is determined on which deposits mines are built?

I think it’d be simplest if the closest deposits are chosen.

And that's it :)

Anticipated effects:

(1) People save time and have to leftclick less.
(2) Building slots become more valuable.

edit:

* Original mechanism changed due to Trigintiljons suggestion.

1 What if you don't have the resources to build that many mines ?
2 With some ore types there are two different sizes of deposits Salt and Tit depo's are either 300 or 500 ore, Given the resources to build mines on those types you might not want to build on the smaller depo's.
3 What if you only want to build a intermediate number of mines ?

1 The same as now: the order is queued; however, if ressources are lacking, the building process doesn't start.
2+3 As described, activating the intelligent mouse cursor is optional. In this case I'd advise the player not to use it.

I like the suggestion of the Intelligent Cursor, but i imagine it working like this:
When the button (CTRL or SHIFT or whatever) is pressed and held, it keeps the building ready so you can drop it where ever you want. Be it a Mine, a Well, a Wheatfield etc. Just like some Star menu buildings work right now, if you have 2 or more in Star and you place 1, you can keep placing until you run out. That way it would be universal for ALL buildings and still give you full control and consistency over your buildings/building queue.

I like your suggestion.

It means more "click work" than my original suggestion, but it sounds more smooth and less complicated, is more consistent with the current interface, and I think it has a better chance of being implemented.

I'll edit my original post.

Thanks!

This would be a acceptable solution to the questions I posed.
