View Full Version : Jack and the Beanstalk adventure?

A new player in guild asked what magic beans were for and after some chat a thought arose for a use for beans.
The player would have to plant a number of beans - 1k? BB can decide - these then grow into a magic beanstalk on the island which gives access to a new adventure area, as per the fairy tale. In with the adventure loot one of three items could be given - a bag of coins, a magic harp, a goose that lays golden eggs. Once the player has collected all three of these they could be combined to make a special reward.
Gives a use for beans, adds a new dimension to the adventures and could be expanded into other old fairy tales from other countries.
Thoughts?

nice idea - I have just been chatting to another player we both have about 75k beans in storage and were wondering what to do with them

sounds great with, Jack and the Beanstalk adventure. have thaught of that my self for 3 years now.
so also big +1
Great take on a classic fairytale! What would you suggest be this "reward" for collecting all three of these items?

+1 on this idea.
And a special buff like Thejollyone says would be a great reward.
Another reward idea could be a box that would open and there could come out some random cool stuff. Like the buff proposed of maybe some books for the skill trees. Or maybe even a frozen manor. Just an idea :)

Excellent idea. Planting the beanstalk on a temporary buildingspot till it grows into a large enough stalk to reach the new addies adds a level of excitement similar to collecting enough crystals for your next venture.
Perhaps it could be a chain of adventures, aside from the 3 special things to collect you also get some magic water in the loot to combine with a few herbs & a wee bit of grout (in ph/rph)... to make the plant grow higher and reach the next level of addies.
And then when youve collected all parts (end of quest), the plant whithers and needs to be planted again (make plant in ph/rph), like an exhausted well.
Impressive buffs & rare buildings all good suggestions on loot. Getting frozen residences is still insanely hard, considering its still a building you need to spend resources on before its worth its building spot. (unlike say witchtower, hosp.church...) Perhaps some license-free manors?
Also wouldnt mind a new token. Weddings are pretty boring for high-level players right now... perhaps a rare new token that gives even more xp than the intriguing coin?
Lastly perhaps some small amounts of gems? With no new gempits being added (as stated), and the reward through exelsior being limited by crystals, it might be a good idea to add another option. Doing an addy-chain with high losses seems a good price to pay.

There are some unmovable rumbles in sector 9 - one would fit well for such enormous stalk to grow up from.

One of the greatest suggestion. As rewards , they can be :
-Giant's Castle as already proposed as population building
-Giants Bane as already proposed, buff for barracks x4 24h
-Golden egg when redeemed on Mayor house gives you gold coins
-Golden goose coinage and golden tower buff x5 24/36 h.
-The Magic Harp, a new miniquest(token) worth at least 250k XP.

BB could run this as part of a chain, so when get the golden goose it could lay an egg which becomes Humpty Dumpty, this could then be a new adventure. I am sure with a bit more input we could come up with a whole chain for BB.
Golden egg - Mini Quest, same style as Tikki Island, but with 2% chance of a rare building.

What sort of rare buildings do you have in mind?

something that uses the Fairytale castles, ability for the castle to produce special buffs, possible build a special resource to upgrade residences etc, but this would tie in the with fairytale theme

Maybe a new type of building would be a nice idea.
A building which could hold settlers but also could serve as storehouse. And be build on the water where is still plenty of space. There could be even a special spot in the water which is for this building like with the water castle from the expeditions.
But to make it more interesting the building is upgradable. But to upgrade it you have to go thru the chain different times.
A bit like the Fisherman chain. First you can get the basic building and after that you get the upgrades to expand it to a maximum. Could even be up to 20 up grades.
And i personally think it shouldn't be to easy so in the loot there is a change for an upgrade but not always. This way it's interesting to keep the chain playing to get it to the maximum upgrade.
If there is not an upgrade in the loot there should be other interesting things to get.
Special buffs which only can are in this loot. Buff for a bookbinder (x4 or x5 for 24 hours). Buff for the barracks (x4 or x5 24hours) etc.
Get books out of the loot.
Maybe some special zone buffs.
Hope you guys get the idea ;)

Another thought....have a surprise box in one of the loots with the options being gems or books (a codex) and/or something else. The idea of obtaining a book would tie into the fairy tale theme also.
Keep the ideas coming guys - this thread is a good demonstration of imagination and great suggestions!

Why Frozen Manor? make more sense if there is a new building like a frozen :) like Gaint's Castle, or Gaint's Tower.
Given that Jack sold the cow for beans, the special building would be more appropriate to being an up market `barn conversion' Lol

And we could get a cow level, right?

Or a milking shed or dairy farm? Use the milk it produces and barrels to make butter; use butter and bread to make stronger settlers, or a more powerful barrack buff (so making a stronger army).
instead of frozen manor, an extra ellite barrack would come in handy

-1, no need for 2nd barracks, new generals skills and new CoA generals, is fair enough.. also this is another suggestion not belong to this thread.

worthy a separate thread though.

Been looking for ways to make this part of a chain.
Maybe make it part of The Jack Adventures? Could have Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack the Giant Killer, Jack and His Comrades, Jack and His Golden Snuff-Box, plus Jack the Dullard> Lots more I can suggest with Jack in them.
Each adventure would drop from the previous one, as per Fisherman and His Wife. On completion of the final adventure could receive the final prize. Would look for this to be a new building, not just a frozen manor or witch tower, we already have those, let's make this new. Maybe Giant's Castle which has large population in it or maybe produces a random gift every 24 hours - small number of gems, good buff, granite etc. (There are other games I play where event buildings do this.)
Basically looking to bring in some new adventures and new building/s.
Also worth looking at lower level new adventures as the ones we have now have become somewhat stale?
Let's keep this on-topic with the original post guys! ;)
This has to be one of the best ideas i seen on the forum since i play the game. Beans would get some use and new adventures are always welcome :)
As a reward for the 3 items... a very good barrack buff is not a bad suggestion and i like the mini quest idea too with the chance of a building in the end of it, maybe a new rare building with 75-100 pop 2x2. A Beanstalk Tower maybe :)
with giant population on a tiny little spot?

What i'm thinking after all the posts on this topic is a nice chain of things we have to do.
Starting off with planting an amount of beans somewhere on the island.
Then the beans have to grow in to a nice plant ofcourse.
But we have to stimulate the beans to grow in to this nice big plant. Normally we do that with giving water and fertilizer and ofcourse love :)
Here we do that by giving "buff" to the plant which makes it grow.
These buffs we can get from the loot from Tailor and / or Ali adventures. The will drop for a certain percentage. So not everytime we get them. (Things shouldn't be that easy)
The buffs are a few types. Depending on the buff the plant grows a certain amount of levels. If you got the good buff it's maybe 3 levels and with the most basic 1 level.
When the plant is full grown it gives a reward. After that the plant dies and after some cool down period we could plant again.
This could be some interesting buffs or books but it also could give a new adventure.
The Jack adventures as somebody suggested.
This could be a chain like the Fisherman chain.
With in the end loot a special building like i have suggested before in this topic.
Perhaps final reward for the chain can be an epic barracks with subsequent unlocks similar to epic farm / evilqueen... (as also suggested in other post).
3 recruitment queues for regular/elite/colony troops where we can choose which slot makes which troops, if appropriate skills have been unlocked.
What about the difficulty of said adventure? How long should it take, how much would you be required to commit?

I think it could be a good fill up for after lvl 63.
And in this case it should be a very difficult. People who are on lvl 63 and above have a good economy and can deal with big loss. And also have a big population so enough troops for a big and difficult adventure. For this ofcourse there will be a good amount of XP earned.
Being a difficult big adventure it would cost some hours to play (if you mean this with how long should it take)
BB_Saqui what do you mean with "how much would you be required to commit"
Only think to figure out with starting above lvl 63 is that if there are drops from the loot to get the buffs i suggested they also should start dropping when a player reaches lvl 63...
BB_Saqui what do you mean with "how much would you be required to commit"
I meant in terms of a number of troops in order to complete it, averagely speaking of course. Let me know your ideas behind it!
I would prefer to see something that suits more people... not entirely worked it out in my head tho :p
Extra variety in addies for lower-levels (35-48) would be welcome so they don't have to do the same over and over.. at the same time we definitely need more advanced addies in style with evil-queen for +63..
The combination of this should not be entirely impossible... lower-loss adventures in the chain that allow you to unlock a first training queue with regular units up to a certain level, say for example longbowmen. Mid-loss adventures that allow you to unlock a second queue up to for example Swordsmen. Third range of adventures with high losses (harder than evil-queen) allowing you to unlock a third queue with final unit production capacity.
Not entirely sure how you're going to put 3 tiers into 1 beanstalk plant... but perhaps the maximum height of the plant can be linked to the players level? (Meaning the plant dies faster for low levellers, allowing it to be replanted sooner and at lower cost)
For players that are already high-level BB has the choice to program it that we can choose which plant to grow, or to simply allow all unit types to be unlocked by the big plant... queues opening up at 1st, 2nd and 3rd respective run-through of the chain.
If its all 1 plant (and not 3 different ones) then the first growth-stages would give very simple addies to be completed. Maybe boring for high-level players but at the same time such a simple effort that maybe it won't bother high-level players... we'll just fly through them and on to the next.. the end reward is worth it after all.

Talking about an adventure for higher lvl's where the players have a good running economy and a high population i would think about high loses. Maybe even more the 5K elite troops. That would be more then loses now in the heaviest adventures.
Ofcourse with such high loses the xp reward should also be really good to get the right balans.

The reward in the loot has to be worth playing for! The young woodcutter can be played within an hour (losses: only about 150 Mounted Swordsman) and gives (with premium) about 200k xp (or more with Fast Learner). So if you will give about the same experience for 5k elite troops losses, that will be 7M xp and that's too much, I think.
For new adventures for higher levels you have to use only elite troops and no normal troops, so the losses will be higher. No cheap first waves, this way we have to use knights and swordsman or even the armored and mounted marksman.
In my opinion these are good ideas! Hopefully they can be implied in some way in the future.
