View Full Version : Mobile platforms
Well, I asked this question 4 years ago on Heroes Online forum, but I would like to ask it again here. Do you have any plan to run this game, and any web-based games of BB, on mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets? Nowadays, mobile devices are more popular and strong enough to run heavy-taxed games. I'm sure it will make the games more popular; and for me, I can manage my island anywhere.

Thanks for your interest! At the time being, we have no plans to bring "The Settlers Online" to mobiles via a dedicated app, but we certainly value people expressing their desire for it. As Lordloocan suggested, there are unofficial ways of playing the game via smartphones and/or tablets - however since it isn't supported, your experience may vary.

For android tablets you can have a usb mouse attached to it (called OTG cable) :

Many thanks for the advice. I'm sorry for bothering to ask one more question. Does anyone know if there is a network adapter for Android (Samsung) smartphone and tablet?
I found this, but it can't be used for my smartphone and tablet.

What are you trying to do with your smartphone?
I can play Settlers Online with Puffin browser on my smart phone now. However, the Internet service on my smart phone is not so great, so I wonder if I can somehow use the ethernet cable at my home for it.
I don't even know if it's possible, I just wonder if there is a cable to connect my router to my smartphone.

Your smartphone should support wireless capabilities to connect to your router via Wi-Fi, no?

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't have WiFi or WLAN in my dorm. We are provided only an Internet socket on the wall and connect with a cable to computer.

Ah I see, that's a shame. May I ask if you're required to "log in" to your dorms internet (most likely via a proxy)?

Yes, I am.
Yes, I am.
If you have a PC/Laptop you could try to connect to it via that, and then tether your phone to it for Internet Sharing. Otherwise, I don't know off the top of my head what device you'd need.

keep in mind Puffin do not run flash on your phone... the game runs on remote server and it's streamed to your phone...
this consume many data

Puffin is extremely fast, seems much faster than my laptop, but after a recent update it is way more difficult to move around ur island (compared to how easy it was previously)
Ideal for quickly checking things and basic tasks but not ideal for doing adventures with blocks etc unfort :(

Yeah, actually, that is all I need. I usually have little time to play at night everyday. So, be able to just take care of my island during the day is good enough for me.

Unfortunately, this may be the case since we don't officially support the Puffin browser.

Plug a router into your network socket on the wall and then connect to that wirelessly ;-)

This may not work if the proxy Syltom1 logs into is required to whitelist his device's IP address.
How do you move the map in puffin?

Use mousepad to move arrow around, by holding your finger on one spot for a few secs it turns into a grab that will then move map around
Alternatively go into theatre mode from the drop down menu, you can then move around the map by swiping your finger on the screen. The only downside with this method is you will need to reactivate the mouse pad after using the virtual keyboard.
Flash is dead (Adobe stop supporting it in 2020) so interested to know why you aren't even considering porting to HTML5 etc?
Can the game be played on Android Tablet (Samsung) now we no longer use Flash?

It might be possible to play on mobile devices, but it's not supported by us.
You can try to launch the Unity Test Version on your Mobile device.
