View Full Version : General thoughts on improvements
I was trying to mail the officers today, and I accidentally sent my mail to all guildies, which triggered this post. Adding onto what must be the eleventh bazillion thread on this subject, I thought I would throw my own 2 cents out there.
"Minor" quality-of-life improvements:
- Dynamic upgrade prices for gems - I know I would have thrown gems at my Fairytale Castle, had it been lowered, according to the upgrade timer
- Move the "instant complete" button in the barracks - I've clicked that button a million times. Move it so we don't have to eat our own hands when we clear the que!
- Create a "clear cue" button for all production facilities (PH / RPH / barracks / ect.)
- The excelsior quest "A thereat?!?", requires us to drop 5 spyglasses, but we have to drop them one at a time. Give us a slider and be done with it, plz!
- Why can't the epic wood yard plant trees? And while you are at it, could you consider having a tree nursery in the building, so settlers don't have to leave the building to plant a tree. This would open up a load of placement options for that building.
- The mail system is horrible. We can't create groups(like common ls takers), we don't have any way of communicating with the guild officers, apart from the officer chat. Give us a "Guild officers" option, plz!
Thoughts on further development:
I've been talking with a bunch of people, and the consensus seems to be, the experience required for "the next level" is way to high. I don't think this is true(but I'm still only lvl 56). I think this issue could be handled in 2 ways; lowering the amount of xp needed for the next level(the dull approach), or making each level interesting. From 40-50 there are 9 buildings, 2 of which are a well and a field, respectively. From 50-60 there are 14. A bit better, but most of them is for use with the big boy barracks.
Give us options for doing stuff a different way. I personally thing the improved water / mill / butcher / ect. should be part of the leveling system. In short, it's dull to stay at the same level, when you have nothing to do, but throw the same amount of troops at the same addy over and over again.

you maybe need to read this first: http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/32329-Please-read-before-posting-in-Game-Suggestions !
If you know there is a suggestion already exist then, go there and +1 it, if not, keep 1 suggestion per thread (yes it is ok to post many threads for each suggestion if you believe there is no previous suggestion like yours)!
@TheVictorious
Hai. After reading over the link(again), I'm a bit confused as to what you think I have done wrong?
"Recommendations when posting a new thread:
-Don't open a new thread for an existing suggestion"
If that is the reason, I would love to hear your thoughts(in pm please, no need to derail this thread anymore) about what is reasnoble to expect me to do before posting. Do you think it's reasnoble to make a guy sift trough 167 pages with good ideas? What about the replys? Someone might have replied with something similar to what I said. Should I read all the threads, just to make sure?
I do kinda find it funny that you choosed to link that sticky post though:
"Recommendations when offering feedback:
-Keep your comments constructive"
Food for thought?

Agree the current system is illegal, as in BB are asking us to Violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
- Move the "instant complete" button in the barracks - I've clicked that button a million times. Move it so we don't have to eat our own hands when we clear the que!
Do you have any suggestions on where you would like it to be moved to?
- Create a "clear cue" button for all production facilities (PH / RPH / barracks / ect.)
First this will not fix the problem, second this would generate lag. A more acceptable solution is a move to top button.
- The excelsior quest "A thereat?!?", requires us to drop 5 spyglasses, but we have to drop them one at a time. Give us a slider and be done with it, plz!
A slider is needed for all items which can be dropped on Mayor's, people are complaining about having to redeem party-crasher buffs one at a time.
- Why can't the epic wood yard plant trees? And while you are at it, could you consider having a tree nursery in the building, so settlers don't have to leave the building to plant a tree. This would open up a load of placement options for that building.
Not as many as you think, it's a large building with very limited placement options.
- The mail system is horrible. We can't create groups(like common ls takers), we don't have any way of communicating with the guild officers, apart from the officer chat. Give us a "Guild officers" option, plz!
I CC my officers by using the add name function.

From level 63+ there is just one building. The lack of new things to do at the higher levels has been raised in a recent discussion we have been having with the Devs on the test forums.

So do you think my comment not constructive? while it is just an advice to not lost your suggestion, the fact that your thread is useless for BB as you can see from rules?
Please stick to one suggestion per thread
We often encounter threads where players have included all their game improvement ideas within one post. While we understand this is comfortable for the original poster, it is not ideal. This can lead to confusing threads as people comment on one or more aspects of the original post and the topic tends to stray. Therefore, we'd prefer it if you took the time to create separate threads or to add your opinions to already existing suggestions.
If you want to support your idea, you have a suggestion you can simply "search" there is a tool for this in forum:
http://i.imgur.com/kMztSp5.png
it is already mentioned:
Don't open a new thread for an existing suggestion
Before posting, we'd appreciate it if you took the time to check whether someone has already made the same suggestion. You can do this by using the search function, or simply scrolling through the existing suggestions.
or simply use google!
If you got offended just to get a reply on suggestion! then you really need to know how things in forum going usually!
I really was straight forward, just telling you to save your time and my time to read especially you got only 2 posts in a forum at all! I don't see the BB post confusing, it is simple and clear!

Daft thing is he was being asked to add to a thread which he wouldn't have found initially without trawling through hundreds of pages of junk, and having assumed that such a thread existed in the first place. Add to that that the thread he is being asked to add to contains loads of suggestions for improvements all nicely buried in one little box and I can see his frustration - though popping the link up was handy.
The search function above is as useless as a chocolate teapot. BB really need to create a section of the forum called Archive and dump all the old threads into it - I really am not interested in what Ravel had to say about the Easter 2014 event anymore for instance.
