View Full Version : Queen's Birthday
This was one of the three set dates in the year for this language version to recieve gifts from BB to level the playing field with other servers.
Seems to have been forgotten about this year, our last one was St George's Day back in April. :(

Agreed, the celebrations or "special" days should be more common and neutral. Queen does not mean anything to non UK people. I'm not sure if St George is a good idea either in today's Europe since it's a religious day.

Do you hear all that commotion at your town's gates? You should go check it out (and your in-game mail too)! ;)

Find me a day which a) is not a religious day, b) not the birthday of somebody infamous, c) not the anniversary of some horrific event.

Hmm, considering what happened on 23rd June last year, I doubt it.
Anyway, the Commonwealth covers over 70% of the World so it make sense in a way.
I didn't choose these, BB Ravel did after it was discovered that other language versions were receiving gifts for certain dates and we were getting absolutely nothing on here. To ensure fairness each language version was supposed to have 3 "special" dates (although 1 I play still seems to have 4).
personally I'd have picked different dates but at least the 3 we do have are spread quite evenly over the year, a lot of the more obvious choices do seem to fall in a very narrow window between 6th June and 15th September.
Thank you BB for the gift. I think that's all anyone should say about it.

There are enough of international and European days and events which are none of those like the Earth day. Some relation to religions does not matter if its widely observed and mostly neutral but some of the days are completely focused on religious persons or events. Why not just have neutral celebrations like for the start of the summer or just Settlers related imaginary days :)
Also (semi) related to all of your A, B and C currently of the settlers special days in November is for Guy Fawkes and we get some gunpowder in the mail. It can seem kinda odd for a non UK people that we celebrate a terrorist or a terrorist act that failed. Maybe its just a fireworks fun fair today for people but the history of the whole thing is very grim
