I'm having problems with the game not responding to mouse input with the latest Firefox.

Steps to problem.

1. Start game as normal
2. Switch tab to another tab
3. Switch back
4. No longer able to do anything with the game

One workaround I have found so far is you can drag the tab to a new window and you will regain control.

EDIT The workaround is not quite right as I just opened my star menu and it's in the top left of the screen instead of the usual bottom center.
EDIT2 Also triggered by minimizing the window and restoring.

Title fixed

The latest version of Firefox is 55 here :/

I was having version 52 and was trying to upgrade to 53, but I found later that the latest version is 55, What you have to do is uninstall your current version, and use the installer from www.firefox.com click download and then start the installer.

Also, try to enable multi process see if this fix the issue?
https://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

The lag moving around indeed is an issue, but the game still running, but, sometimes the game windows got aligned wrongly or hidden in the top left corner so I have to refresh, but everything is clickable! you can click something yay!!

if you change tabs, or change window, this happens. star menu goes to top left of screen and if you had chat dragged open, it minimizes to the default size. Both things very, very annoying.
got the latest firefox 55.0.03

I'm also unable to play on Firefox since today's update. If I go to another tab - any tab - and return to the game, the game is frozen. After numerous refreshes I gave up and am now using Chrome, but would like to be able to play again on Firefox.

for the last 2 days i have not been able to play TSO at all. The game loads, but i can't navigate around... the game is incredibly laggy and the mouse basically does not work.. and can't even click to go offline. I have tried refreshing firefox, updated adobe flash to latest version, and checked that adobe flash is enabled. Any suggestions what could be causing the issue or any fixes?

It is just on TSO that i am having issues. Otherthan that my PC and mouse is working fine.

I am having same issues. BUT, i actually checked my firefox download history. and it updated on 26th august at 6;55pm and i started having problems more than an hour earlier.. and the update before that was on June 30th.. So i think the latest update might NOT be the issue...just something that happened at the same time. Would be really nice to get some fix though.. Can't play TSO at all at the moment.

Same prob here, don't know if FF will fix this (or compensate BB!). Easiest workround is to use another browser. IE works fine.

Instead of a "false" marker at plugin interactions, the marker is now automatically set on true. You have to Change this by hand and save it:
1. Open: about:config in your browser adressline
2. Accept the security risk message
3. Search for the following (it is sorted alphabetical):
dom.ipc.plugins.asyncdrawing.enabled
4. The norm in this Task must be set to "false". With the update this might be set on true, so you have to Change this.

Afterwards every player in DE said "it works, no lags/freezes anymore and can click on anything"

If that does not work, you can rollback to a previous version of Firefox. All previous version can be found here (ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/)

The seems to fix it Daz, can you further edit the title to indicate there is a fix inside and my first post with the details so others can find it easily?

Thank you

Maybe you should share this with your support section Mod Daz,as I've been working with them for the past 2 days to get this sorted, and the best option they've given me so far was to try another browser such as Internet Explorer. There's a reason why I don't use IE in general. I would have expected Support to know about this, given a mod was able to post a solution.

The same thing happens on all online games where the number of players vastly outnumbers developers and support staff. Players will always be able to find a solution a lot quicker because there are a lot more of us. This particular issue is not related to the game here, but to the browser being used. It also affected many other browser games which means there was even more players looking for a solution, not just for The Settlers Online. When you have a few million players looking for a solution, they always find it quicker than a handful of support staff sitting in an office. It is just the law of averages.

Totally true, but still The settlers online got lags and freezes more than other games :P

So we just returned to point that game become sort of playable but still BB need to fix these original lag and fixes because of the game itself, as for example, the freezes when moving the generals inside adv, and lags when you get notifications and so on.

And, if BB decided to develop game for browsers, they have to take full responsibility to handle the game issues for browsers, not acceptable excuses if BB develop a game for browser and blam browsers all the time, why BB started to develop game inside browsers in the first place if they know it will come with tons of issues, I really would like to see beloved game online and 3D with external light game, I only play this game not because it is unique of its kind and actually it is not the one, but because it is the settlers.

And Thanks again for workaround, even if you got solution from another place, you still found the solution, people were not able to get solution while you did a big help for us here :)

It is "find" or "found" not "create" or "created" anyway, and most people try to find, not to create :D

Chosen solution

Would you check this setting please :

Type in the Mozilla firefox address bar: about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked) Type and look for the preference : dom.ipc.plugins.asyncdrawing.enabled and make sure it's value is set to false
