Just logged in after the shut down and I dont have either of the above. Others are reporting the same.

usualy we lose some chat functions after an update. But they return after awhile. some get them back sooner than others. So its best to wait an hr or 2 before reporting them as missing.

might be usual for you Cliff..its never happened to me before..and I am one of about 200 people reporting it.

It is back now, but players logging in are still experiencing it, and its clear from their comments it isnt 'normal' for them. I have played the game for 2 years and this is a first.

If you are losing chat for up to 2 hours after updates I suggest you let support know - that isnt usual!

Yep, this is known to us - we're investigating it as we speak! You should see the service slowly roll back out!

However, if you're still affected by this, by all means, leave a comment as the information is still useful to us!

Since guild chat didn't appear some 10 minutes after logging in, I tried the suggested "edit your description" and refreshed, but that didn't change anything either. At the same time, I couldn't see any other guildmates online. It appeared on its own about 30' after the original log in, along with the green "online" dots.

I had this upon logging in today as well. Very disappointed that there are so many bugs being added to this game.

Did not work for me.

Next time i reloaded the game the chat was gone again.

You have to do it every time the game is reloaded until it gets fixed. I remember that this has happened before and found some old threads with same temp solution... from 2012 :P

i had my guild chat this morning, logged out and when i came back had no guild chat
the 'fix' worked to bring it back, but it indeed seems to be only temporary

seems that the problem for me is that it takes about 5-10 minutes or more after I log in before the guild/officer chat actually appears.
also, online status of guildies takes that long to appear, too.
this has been the case every time I've logged in subsequent to the first login after the update.

Modifying the description did bring it back. Funny that it was fine all morning (which is after the update and after two logins) but after the most recent log out / log in it wasn't there until I did the description thing. Perhaps it was how long I was logged in which others have theorized...

re logging is not the fix and for most people wont change anything. Either use the fix as offered above ....or wait. It does return after a while.

I still dont have the guild and officer chat, do have the whisper chat, but it dont seams as anyone is online at this moment. tryed it all, hasn't worked so fare. Even deleted cookies and log in info.

Got it to work now ...... Saw this in the help tab. .....

[07:32] MOD_ArohaNui: you need to goto your guild shield, and select yourself in the members tab, then write something in the notes tab - click the tick
