Explorer treasure searches (chance to get presents on top) dont like the wording chance its meant to be guaranteed

Ok, so Granite Transformation, Grout Transformation and Mahogany Wood Transformation recipes all require the Provision House to be upgraded to level 7.
Issue: the Provision House is currently NOT on the list of upgradable buildings and there is no indication about the timing of any future deployments (and whether any of those will include the Provision House anyway)...

think they mean player level, as level 7 is when you can get the provision house. The level of the prov house itself has never been an issue in any other xmas event for these buffs

Honestly that was my first thought but, as with every event, the player minimum requirement is to be level 16. That is in fact the first event subquest which triggers others to appear.
So why mentioning a level way below the one required to participate in the upcoming event anyway? To make sure all players have a provision house on their island even though early starter quests do require to produce a few platters and solid sandwiches? Or is it another vague and confusing translation of the original dev diary in German?

My guess is that if those transformations/new recipes simply would need to be purchased from the event merchant, they would already show in a level 6 provision house, only greyed out. This is not the case...
To me it looks like we're given the opportunity to purchase some new recipes (how much do they cost or are they free btw?) without knowing if and when we'll ever be able to potentially use them.

They are not recipes but old options that appear in the prov house during the event. The conversion rates are also poor IIRC, like grout was something like +1k granite, 25 presents to get 50 grout.

edit: German dev diary says player level 7

In Dev Diary is written: "Limits adapted: Xmas Market, GiftTree, Anteria Champions and Candid Explorer can be obtained this year once again". But after no mention of cost of this Champions, nor if it's a limit or it's only for new players who didn't get them from previous event.

they are already in the merchant, the limit increase was done with the last update, everyone has had their limit increased by 1 each

Looking forward to it (especially afterthe inevitable hotfix on the 17th).
Not too sure how useful the Stalwart Gen will be, love the hp but if he's designed to work with swift units, that's never really going to come into play. Maybe will fare a bit better with elite units but with basic cav he's a sitting duck and may be better for blocking.
Annoyed at having to pay gems for Save the Xmas Feast, should get at least one for free for old time's sake, although it's a gimme adv these days, it was the main goal of our very 1st event in 2011. In fact, I did 2 of them before I even touched Bounty Hunter as I didn't hit Level 26 until well into the event. Had to complete it using whatever troops I could make but still maintain this was a great way to learn the strengths and weaknesses making up garrisons on the fly.

My favourite bit of the diary has to be one of the pictures though, look closely, even BB_Pandur, one of if not the longest serving BB still in the game, Level 75 but even he hasn't touched PvP. Tab still says Level1, just like mine. I rest my case, QED. :)

Yes, I did a double take before realising they meant Player Level, but as Kit points out, irrelevant since Player has to be Level 16 to trigger the event.
Only time I can recall using the granite transformation was the very 1st Xmas event in 2011, the PH converted marble to granite without presents. Sadly, as we'd only been playing a month, marble was still in short supply or we'd have filled our boots. :)

Any info from BB on why the Dev Diary states that the Grout transformation and the Mahogany Wood transformation have this description?

"Effect: Converts Presents and Granite into Grout (Mahogany Wood for the other one)
Minimum requirement: Level 7 (for Provision house)
Available in: Provision house(s)"

The Provision House is not listed for a Level 7 upgrade and is not needed for this merchant transformation. My Provision House is level 6 and offers these transformations (pointless/too expensive as I deem them to be).

Flubbervius
17.12.19, 11:49
It is referring to your game level - you need to be at least level 7 in order to build the provision house

Wuselwirbel
17.12.19, 16:39
And 16 to take part in the event. So that "information" is at best confusing....

Flubbervius
17.12.19, 19:19
I believe you have to be level 16 to activate the quest chains...I suspect a player on levels 7-15 could access these transformations in the provision house but not the quest chain?

I experienced a weird behavior at the Christmas market.
For some reason the slider disappeared when I ran out of ducks, contributing to the confusion was the 0/0 everywhere when I still needed about 40 ducks for the quest.

i've upgraded a few coking plants to level 7 but in Economy Overview (prntscr.com/qj5jkx) they do show as level 3

the general is good for Ali adventures like the woodcutter and so on. The higl lvl Ali/arabian Night adventures you can attack 1 out of for camps, when flanking and splash are good where you need more units then boris deliver.

How about "green" skin over Gingerbread Storage to make it fit the island scenery? Think it was promised a year or two ago, but never heard about it since. Have lots of them in star, just waiting for that skin to use them.

could be a new better/improved set of buildings part of, let's say, a new "Hobbit chain", 1x1, tribute height ones :)

So I have 4 christmas bakeries. And I noticed every building must be upgraded extra. You are kidding, right? Everything about bakeries is bad designed or developed, this is the top of the worst.

If only that was not mentioned in the Dev Diary... But as it was, BB isnt to blame here.

PS: I also have 4 but I opted to keep 2 at level 1, 1 at level 2 and 1 at level 3. That fits my potential needs and nobody said I had to upgrade all 4 anyway.

Try the Quest Chain part of the Dev Diary (https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/37459-Dev-Diary-Christmas-Event-2019?p=356581#post356581).

It's all in blue letters, as this is new compared to last year's event.
It clearly states the costs of moving and upgrading a bakery as well as the description of what each level does.
Furthermore, the event was on the test server (and the building still is there by the way) for all to... well, test it and see by themselves before deciding what to do.
Last but not least, it's not as if there was no guild, nor Help chanel or even a forum to ask questions before pointing the finger at others.

mrfatalerror
09.01.20, 21:39
Yes, there is information about moving costs and about upgrading costs. But. There is no information "the upgrade of christmas bakery is for the specific bakery only and new buff is not available in other christmas bakery buildings until they are upgraded too". This statement is missing. And that is my point.

Test server? I have life, no time to live on test server. Important information must be stated clearly here or in in-game shop.

Guild, help channel or forum - I cannot put a question to something what is not written anywhere. Cannot assume all combinations and put question for everything here.

And yet you assumed that as long as one bakery would be upgraded, all other bakeries would also be...

Last year, when one market was upgraded, that didnt imply the other was too.
And it's not as if some players had no bought/upgraded their bakeries so you could have asked and awaited for feedback before deciding to go for it and its placement fitting best your island.

PS: I barely if ever use the test server myself, but others do and have some information about the upcoming event before it hits the live servers. I agree we dont all have days on end to continuously play TSO, but information is readily available for those seeking it actively.
BB is far from exemplary when it comes to transparency and efficient communication, but in this case I still believe they cannot be blamed.

I liked the event from an required-effort way. Mostly that medium, long and very long searches had exact same returns/hr.
I really really would like to see all searches to be more or less equal. Previous events balanced it waaaay too much in favor of faster searches which is an incredibly demotivating chore, especially for those having a lot of explorers.

Please keep explorer income/hr the same as this event for future events!

Upgrading a Noble residence does not upgrade all Noble residences on your island, the same applies to every other up-gradable building there is. So why are you complaining about the fact that the Xmas Bakery is exactly the same as every other building. Your assumption is illogical, so it's no surprise that it has proven to be wrong.

Nice event BB....yes I did say that, lol. The x3 xp motivated many to get down to some serious adventure grinding and the explorer present returns meant we were able to help all in VALE guild to get lots of nice goodies, including several who joined mid-event.

More of the same please.

Nice not to have an event which requires doing thousands of adventures. Not looking forward to the valentines->easter->summer->halloween run again though :(

My main complaint is the new humble explorers are pretty rubbish, basically the second worst explorer in the game (with only the slowest explorer ahead of them).

I liked event too. always good to not run adventures mendatory to get event ressources... i missed one week of event and still got all :) only thing to mention is also the xmas bakery. why are water mills(both: normal and improved) not included in the buff??? needed for bread brew and these chains are all included... if its a bug please fix it... if not then please explain why not included
