View Full Version : why is the german servers and its players treated better then any other server?

Its a genuine question i am curious of It's been noted in the past that things are listened to and dealt with better on the german servers and forums for an example BB wants all players to transfer to a ubisoft account most of us here have as far as i am aware but on the german servers you are paid to do so with a in game mail of stuff why wasnt that game wide we all had to jump through the same hoops

my guess is because of the way we interact with BB and MOD's.

the amount of downtalks and rudeness i see daily on global, help, forum and why not, in trade,
is smtg that , once again, i believe won't get us far

Funny thing is that the reward is promissed on my "migration" page also. And then it gives completely nonsensical instruction about left and right side when there only is one central form in the middle. So if the English server players do not get rewarded for migration BB is giving out false information on top of that. I posted in timeline thread about that a couple of days ago.

Regarding reason, I don¨t believe for a single second that for one - German players are more polite then English, and two - that this actually would be a reason for discrimination. Completely silly notion.

I have an account on the German server and trust me they are no more polite than we are on the EU servers and are far more blunt in their responses to inactivity by BB and/or lack of feedback. The reason the reward has been offered is because many were outright refusing to make Ubi accounts

What intrigues me is what happens to those who already have a Ubi account? Do they get nothing because they already did the job?

Incidentally, the German servers have regular in-game competitions etc such as this one:

https://forum.diesiedleronline.de/threads/141777-Die-Mumien-Schnitzeljagd

Is just them from what I see as no similar games on US servers.

One of the reasons I rarely post on the forum these days is the complete lack of engagement from BB.

There used to be a time when BB was pretty active on here. On the German forum they are much more engaging and even on the US forum which is just as slow (if not slower than this one) they are still much more visible.

I get why they wouldn't bother engaging with us much though. Their communications approach to server patching and restarts is pretty dire and genuine questions go unanswered so unless they make a significant effort to re-engage on a regular basis, they will get constant barrage of questions such as why don't they communicate better. Its a wicked circle.....

How do I know if I have a Ubisoft account? I couldn't get the new version to work on Chrome - just hung. When I tried Edge (first time ever), it worked with no bother. I didn't see anything about Ubisoft.

Think that would be easier then responding to every support mail they get.

I just tested this again and as stated on our website you get exactly the same rewards for merging your account (UK instance).

I currently manage the UK&US instances and I always try to answer players questions. Sometimes it requires more time, so there is no "immediate" answer. However, I know that I can still improve on my side and I have a lot of ideas for the future. I don't want to use it as an excuse, but now our focus is on changing the technology and we want to make sure that everyone can continue playing without any issues and I don't want anyone to miss my ideas :)

The easiest way is probably to just check how you are logging in (Legacy Login, Steam Login, Facebook Login, Ubisoft Login). If it's the last one, you know the answer.

Well I didnt and i dont use legacy anymore as i cant wont let me only way i can sign in is via ubisoft and we had this conversation months ago when i asked you about these rewards so as i didnt get the rewards how do i and others get what everyone else got cause we managed to link our accounts without going through the profile link as until recently didnt even know that existed on this server is no posts on it from when ubisoft log in became a thing

agree - those of us who migrated when we were first requested to do so got a big fat zero in rewards; would be nice if they would 'backdate' the rewards to all of us who were good little minions and did what we were told

we all got a reward this summer if transferred here also. Maybe you dont get it any longer - I dont know. that part I dont think is different

But I also have the feeling that we dont matter much, we dont get as much info as on German server. Often we are told what is going on, when something has gone wrong by german players, when BB has not bothered telling us what is up. They never ever bothered giving us any feedback, I dont know if that is any better on german server, have not bothered trying to read it. I dont know if they actually have support over there or not, I would not mind if we had, instead of the 3 auto replies we always get.
Another interesting question is : "Do they actually do anything efficient to help people transferring to Ubi login on German server?
If they do - why dont they here??
I am starting to worry that half the players will be lost soon, and half my guild gone. Not many of us have managed to get through to the other side so far. Many have had trouble and have given up. A few have been unable to log on for a week and longer. I had trouble myself and had no help from support. Found out by listening to the real and unpaid support. The help tab and help from guidies.

Updating the guide seems necessary step as there are major holes in it. To mention 2 most important for me:

It does not answer the question of multiple worlds play at all.
The instruction on "Migration" page of player account reads as if written for different page or form. Namely it tells you what to do on the left or right side while in reality there is only one form in the middle with nothing to do on the left or right. I mentioned (https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/37980-Feedback-TSO-Future-Timeline-amp-Unity-FAQ?p=360243#post360243) that already and got no response to it.

Regarding point 1: I logged into my Ubi account of my recently started baby game. It looks like a portal full of info useless to me, but I could not find my TSO game within that Ubi account. I clearly prefer direct Legacy login as Ubi seems unnecessary cluttered middle man asking for trouble.
To be even more specific, it is not clear if there will be two worlds accessible from one Ubi account (where and how), or if each world requires separate Ubi account to remain accessible. So not even talking about download transition client or Unity, just the migration to Ubi presents enough problems not clarified in your guide.
Overall, hearing players not able to log in, losing their account when trying migration, confused instructions etc. just gives me zero confidence to migrate my main account, so holding back until things are clarified.

As Norton said- it does not include all the problems people might have:
If they have an Ubisoft account already. If the mail address they have, on that is different from the one on settlers. If they have an old settlers account that is inactive and the email for that is the one you used on the ubisoft account, and you dont know either nick or password for that. When you write support, they just tell you to write from the other email,- no matter what email you try to contact them from in the first place.

Even people who does not have any of these issues make it through without trouble, because - as Norton pointed out, the guide does not match what we actually see as a player. I am sorry I did not make any screenshots, so cant be very specific. But one major problem is that the first you see after you start the process and have logged on via Ubi login - is a create new game button. There is also another option, to use existing, but it is very hard to spot, so a lot of players start a new settlers account by mistake. Now they have to go into the change settings option on the homepage, delete that account - then wait 2 weeks and then try again.

I am a school teacher I work with computers every day and help students with their computer. I had issues - it was not that easy for me, for reasons stated above. I have guild members who are not that good with computer program settings, and I am worried that I might lose friends in this mess.

I dont get why BB does not write to people and inform them directly. They should have emails and be able to see who does not have this sorted yet.

I logged in with my Ubi account on the TSO homepage, only option is to start a new game, no migration or FB link options at all.

Are the FB login users such a small number BB don't care and will abandon them and force a new game?

And yet again less than 24 hours notice that a 4 hour downtime is happening. This is one of those examples where communications regarding game play sucks big time.
I doubt very much that BB was not aware of when it expected to schedule this and I am pretty sure that they could have posted it on Friday last week.

On the plus side, it will hopefully be less than 4 hours and all those who only log in once per day during this down time will have the opportunity to log in and sort their daily tasks.

I'm not massively affected by this downtime but I am pretty sure that giving a little more notice for down time that isnt an essential patch or hotfix would go a long way towards restoring some faith that BB does listen and tries to ensure its players can plan for these things  :p ;)

Players lost connections to servers- which happened on all servers.

It suggests some DNS issue which gets resolved when these servers updated - whish is ISP dependant and mainly based on routing through the web- Seeing a lot of the players managed to bypas sthe error by using a different route with a vpn shows that.

It also means that resolution of the issues was not entirely in BB's control

They make many mistakes but you can't blame em for every thing and then without much evidence except forum hearsays tell that they also selectively fix stuff so german players get an easier ride of it than the rest of it-

To be honest- the suggestion stinks to high heaven

This is not true. I am not sure if you are a native German speaker or if you are using a google translator which may cause confusion.

The connection problem was a global issue in all TSO instances and was fully resolved yesterday morning. The German instance was additionally "hit" with another problem (Telekom) and it was resolved on Friday, but it appeared on Thursday. It wasn't the "http error 500" issue which was resolved yesterday.

Feel free to translate the correct post here. (https://forum.diesiedleronline.de/threads/145822-%E2%9C%98-Telekom-Verbindungsprobleme-am-3.2.22?p=1839181&viewfull=1#post1839181)
