This is a good time to ask this question:

BB what plans do you have for the game- We are moving to a new platform- Will there be significant new developments in the game as well- like increase in levels, revamp and/or increase in PVP levels, new immersive questlines and/or new troops etc?

More and more people are reaching that lvl 80 and/or getting at the end of questlines in the mid 70's. There is a risk that people will move on if there is lack of clarity about the intent for the game. I'd hate to see a load leave - probably including myself- if/when we believe that the current game is end of the line

either you love settlers or you do not

Qualan

what kind of reply is that?

What has loving settlers having to do with wanting to know what plans there are for the future. I do not see the correlation there so please enlighten us :P

Well tested the unity live version on the latin server It aint good still cant see whole map as you cant zoom out and it still has that very very very annoying thing where only the area you can see is open and as you scroll across the new section opens up block by block and where you was closes and it constantly does it

Not hard to understand what qawpaw means by "either you love settlers or you do not." Not many of us would have been here by now if we did not.

Over 2 years has passed after flash was announced to end. BB did nothing until this spring to find a solution, and what they have come up with so far is really going downhill compared to what was. The fact that so many still hang on can only be a sign of love or addiction.

So explain to me: What does asking for their plans have to do with loving or hating the game. Asking plans means i don;t love the game? As that is the implication i read into this.

We are here, we play- none of us will play indefinitely if the game doesnt move forward. The ones at 80 will be the first ones to pull the plug if there won;t be any progress anymore. It has nothing to do with not loving the game. But if questioning BB gets interpreted as not being "loyal" ..... or not loving the game....

That I cant answer, but asking for their plan is like wishing for a miracle, they never tell anything until the day before, and even then it might be changed, if they do tell something- it often never happen and then they say- "we never said that" - so again the answer "either you love settlers or you do not" makes perfect sense to me.

new levels will have to come out soon.

with moving into a new platform, it's showing us that the game is here to stay for a little longer

not much to do when you're l80 for a year or so anyway. trade and mining has become boring

The change of the engine (from Flash to Unity) not only improves the experience from the technical side but also gives us much more possibilities for the game itself, simply because the Unity Engine is much better. Once the transition is complete and you and we are satisfied with the game's performance, one of the first features we want to add will be "Mass Send feature"

Future plans will be released as we get closer. At the moment, the priority remains the same: transition + polishing the game to make everyone enjoy it. Once this is done, you can expect game updates.

I totally agree. I am one of the many players who stopped used money on the game, after it was announced that flash was to end and BB did and said nothing, when ever news was brought it did not mean anything new was happening, and later on BB even denied ever having said anything or put any days.

We have spend more than 2 years waiting now. That is more than 2 years where BB could have earned a lot more money from the game.
Now when something is finally happening, the quality is a joke.

I would rater wait ½ a year more, with better and more accurate information on what is really going on, than plunging into a bugged messy unity version.

Exactly the same I have spent enough on this game to get a top end pc and have never minded as i enjoy playing but even i stopped and i have 4 days of prem left on my yearly buy of it and wont be renewing it until I see stable version that is nice to play..

i am by no means a whale but i do believe to contribute to a game i like so every year i would shelf out a buy of gems as contribution- This indeed stopped with the lack of clarity around flash and follow up and the current state of game and follow up hasn't gotten me back on that wagon so for now i am on the FTP bandwagon, with enough premium days stashed away to have premium running during events.

Will see how things develop- ther eis the tiniest hope something might come along but timelines seem so long, that there is an equal risk that another game comes along

From German forum:

Quote from BB_Ondgrund
We now have an official date for the transition to Unity: July 21st. (July 20th for us don't forget)

With the change, the work is of course not over and there is still a lot to improve, but then all players have access to the game again and we can concentrate entirely on a single system.

We will have a maintenance with which we will activate Unity. The maintenance may take a little longer than our normal version updates.

During this time, nobody will be able to enter the game and may find out further irregularities (homepage not accessible, forum, etc.)

As soon as the maintenance is over, you can get back into the game, as normal via your login (Ubisoft or Facebook) on the start page

The game will then start directly in the browser itself, no longer calling the client

The island will be yours as it was, completely normal. We only changed the "route", so to speak, but not the islands themselves.

Nothing needs to be rebuilt.

The German instance will also receive the update on the 20th (it was changed from the 21st).

If there are any doubts, let me explain:

1. You will still use Facebook/Ubisoft login to access your account.
2. After the maintenance, you will simply click the "Play" button on our website and the Unity version will launch in your browser (the same way you do it now).
3. The download client will be deactivated (you can no longer use it).
4. You don't need to migrate, transfer or do anything - we'll do everything.
5. You will keep all your progress (no change to your progress in the game).

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

is it the forum 1st line of support if smtg goes wrong? or do we go down the ticketing lane?

also an update on the requirements might help setting us up for tuesday

This announcement was not your usual run of the mill announcement which has only appeared in obscure news outlets which serve a interested demographic "Gamers". This is a story which has been picked up by the major News media such as the BBC. This means the key points that concern us have been widely disseminated. The key issue here is not how much Unity want to charge game developers but the information Unity will require so that it can arrive at a "Fair price". Yes small indie devs wont have the means to resist this but we are also talking major developers who have the legal equivalent of the SAS on fast dial. Basically Unity are trying to change the terms of the contract after it has been signed, they do not have a legal leg to stand on.

This ''īmprovement'' could be significant game changer for loosing great deal of players.

I would like to point out the date of the post.. which was 2021. The aforementioned client does not exist anymore.

Since this thread is semi-resurrected, I'd like to be cheeky and point out how well this post has aged in the last 2 years...
Once the transition is complete and you and we are satisfied with the game's performance, one of the first features we want to add will be "Mass Send feature"
Since we're still waiting for the mass-send, I'm guessing we're still in the transition phase...
