Maybe some tasks can be run async in the code so the main thread don't hang all the time? Fx stuff like sending out specialists and loading new quests??
If handled wrong this could cause more damage than good though, so maybe not a good idea depending on programming skills..
During the adventura, when the camp is attacked, the general does not knock down the camp, but has to go back to the island - then to the adventura.
This is mostly done in Ali’s adventures.
The number of soldiers cannot be entered, only the pusher works, which takes a lot of time.
This is the most important task to solve because 80% of players do not play!
I hope you recognize the urgency of this because the player is slowly running out!
Guild chat is almost useless with no history to see - is it such a big problem to fix?

so yes they can fix a lot "on the go" but that means that other stuff won;t get fixed in a hurry. So it is all about making choices how to spent the available dev time. do 10 "on the go" jobs, each taking 1 hr and then testing that it doesnt break anything else and before you know it, u lost a few days programmer time

You can enter the number of soldiers without using the slider, click in the box once and type the number in.

Are these not-able-to-connect players all now in your "bit bucket" and you'll just focus development efforts on the few remaining players who are able to connect?
Ok, Credit to you Trafffer for that update, it wasn't that hard now was it? When it comes to communication this is what the player base have been asking for, shame it has taken so long. Question is will you be able to keep it up or will it slip once again into silence? Any how Good job, and thankyou.
The next time I visit my island will be after the next update and we will see if your Devs actions can match the communication.
Event on September 6th ? Please No, concentrate on getting the game playable. Dropping an event in an unplayable game will only frustrate players even more!

I think trying to solve those bugs is great but the most important BUG is forgotten: problems to login in. If I am 'lucky' I get a swamp island where I can only see my emails, put a trade and find collies. If I want the full version of the game, I need to keep refreshing, sometimes I get the lucky number after trying the whole day but sometimes not even that. I am sure that I am not the only one having this problem.
I really miss the game after playing for 9 years, so please can we focus in the main bug so every one have a chance to play?

P.S: I note that when I get my swamp island I also get an event calendar, could it be that in time of login it get swap to an event island? I don't know if this information is useful but I thought to mention it just in case help with the login problems.
Confirmed worse fears that these problems with the system are unlikely to be resolved for the rest of this year

The Mailbox issue has been a 100% problem with all Players which apart from the different Chat Windows is a very very important aspect of our Gameplay. Our needs to be able to communicate among fellow Players is paramount to having a successful interactive Game. Just a simple thing like accepting an Adventure Invite can fail badly because of the amount of reloads required. Invites end up getting cancelled while other Players wait too long. Inter-Guild trading can also suffer as not all trade mails work towards Quest Book Quests. Any improvements will be very welcome by all Players.
A lot of Players (myself included) have days on end where we are not able to see any Guild Chat to the point where we are, by default, playing solo in our own bubble Island. Unless we have made good friends with Players in Global Chat some Quests will be impossible to complete. Guild Chat and Green Lights are a must.
Yes, Lag affects players to different degrees related to different Computer Set-ups. This is a hard issue to fix for the masses. Myself, Lag is not as big a problem as what I hear from others. I have ram to spare, extra installed just before Unity launch. And run Memory Cleaner 24/7 in background.
The BIGGEST PROBLEM Issue is that there are a lot of our Players that can't load up their Island. They all get the "man with the hammer." Then the fail box. The ONLY way I manage to load is to use a VPN for some strange reason. Maybe its a Pacific Region issue. Might be worth a try for others having trouble loading up. A problem this has created is that I get a Zone Refresh every 5 minutes like a timer ticking down. I watch the clock and stop actions before the 5 minutes are up or Gameplay actions don't get completed. GENERALS don't walk to attack or mails don't send or be accepted etc.
There are times when I have loaded Game up only to find that I'm not a member of my Guild anymore, need to reload again.
Yes, Generals swapping during troop loading or attack send is still a bother, Island transfer slow or hang up, buffing buildings glitchy, explorers geos clicky, to mention a few quirks. Coop Adventures can be a bother watching out that you are not changing troops on another Players General (odd and amusing) BUT overall single Player Adventures run quite smooth.
QUESTION TO DEVELOPERS - Which BROWSER is best for us to use to launch the Game. I use Chrome and have tried Firefox Opera and Microsoft Edge with no differences that I can see, or are they all the same really.

I'm with PharTing here - I am disappointed that the inability to actually load the game would get a mention. It's been over a week now, but then it took weeks for this message to be written when the game was changed from the client to unity.
I would have thought also by now too someone might have removed the auto gem sales!

As nice as it is to get this update information, we are still waiting for info for the players unable to log-in, also a mea culpa from management will go a long way in removing the brunt of the abuse/vitriol aimed at Community Managers and MODS. These people whether employees or volunteers had nothing to do with the decision making that has disappointed us all.

This is my issue too! Will anything be done to address the fact that since the maintenance I've been unable to log on or will I have to resort to jumping through hoops and try and find a way to set up a VPN just so I can access this now very buggy game? I have spent many years and much money on this game and I would hate for this to be what proves to be the final nail in the coffin. At the moment I'm feeling very much like an "after-thought" member of this community.

Got the game opened in FF and minimized to the taskbar all day(6-7 hours), still running and no problems at all
Still cant log in at all, keep going back to refresh. no answer to queries , been trying for 2 or 3 weeks now, used different browsers but same negative response
for the past couple of weeks i can not get into the game. it has the man with the hammer and says cannot connect. this is the first time i have been able to respond in here. prior to the not connect everything was flooded.
will the fixes also fix these problems.

It's affecting all of us. Key part of playing this online game is interaction with others.
If they are not online or simply left the game, the game is dead.
Sorry, I don't understand it is a game updated or a future project?
What I read in this update is that it will take likely several months before the game will be playable again, all tough most likely it will still have problems wich fewer players have, like people with a touch screen like me, dont asume this has priority.
I havent been in game since the move to Unity, and it sounds like it will be a long time before its of any use to log back in again.
No one who forsaw this when the decission was made to leave the client???
Really, I always tought BB where profesionals, sadly i have discovered they just a bunch of dumb amateurs......
You had a well running franchise wich brought you money every happy hour, now you got nothing...no game...no players ...and no income....

The developers had a body server at their disposal, where they could boldly try to implement it - and test the bugs and possibilities.
This option is now also available where the test can be performed.
What are you talking about then?
It's all a matter of intention and will - maybe a suitable programmer!

In the past TSo was a young game with growth potential.
Now TSO is an old game with limited growth potential and negative player retention.
You can work it out from there i hope.
Impossible to compare the past to now and dismiss all woes as lack of intention and will and/or staffing.
BB and UbiSoft are commercial enterprises and will look at games from that perspective
And yes if there is the will and interntion at ubisoft to have a flawless game running in 3 months they can probably do it- but never recover the cost of doing that with the risk of shareholders firing the leadership :P
I play on 2 servers, Sandycove since 2012 and Northisle simce 2016, and since the last so-called maintenance/update/fix (whatever it was supposed to be) I have been unable to log in to either game. Can't get past the hammer man. My son has the same problem with being unable to play his game.
Perhaps a little more effort should be directed to connection issues rather than all the "fluff" like blurry print etc.
And I refuse to alter my computer setup as a work-round for something that has been created/caused by Blue Byte.
Thanks for the update Traffer, unfortunately my ability to play the game is so limited that it is not worth my time to login.
No chat to start with then unable to make anything in PH, RPH, Mayors house, Elite Barracks, Barracks, book binder etc. Then there is the small matter of being unable to send out my explorers and geologists not to mention that I need a boat to get around my island due to the flooding from climate change. Oh and lets not forget the man with the hammer trying to kill the computer.
There are things I can do but without all the other stuff that I can't do the game is unplayable so waiting patiently for the next update to see if it is worth staying with the game or cutting and running to preserve my sanity.

My island most of the time is just few block green and blue , buildings load after 10-15 mins ;) Maybe it's only on MacOS but the issues you mentioned have much smaller impact in my opinion. First you need to focus on all login issues as everyone mentioned and general performance .
Btw, maybe only on MacOs + Chrome but when you click on one window and execute action it doesn't go away , you need to close that window manually always.

I logged in using InPrivate (Incognito) window on my browser after stopping all other downloads, clearing browsing data and refreshing the game page on Microsoft Edge. Not easy to log in. :)
I noticed that my Epic Farmyard has lost its max production, now it only produces 20 items per cycle. I wrote a ticket earlier this week but no response. Please tell me this can be fixed.

Ty Traffffler for this great improvement regarding communications. BB on the right path here. But much more remains to be fixed. Could you plz address how you think we're gonna be compensated for the loss of our premium and those who had pfb running? What about those not being able to log in? Are you giving us lost days starting from the implementation of Unity? I'm sure you have some sort of idea how BB gonna make up the losses!! Happy Hour is NOT the answer!!

So, what exactly is there to play for besides leveling up and endless repetition of same adventures and 300 mouse clicks to send out explorers and same for starting, stopping and buffing production chains? Events?

first week could not log in hammer man, then read about VPN thru USA and was able to log in do things like send geos talk in g1 chat, last 2 days not even that no chat cant send geos or adventure and haf island covered with water.
So now much worse what have you done

Clicking on harbour makes game freeze and shutdown of browser is needed, same issue with both FF and chrome with all known updates to comp and browsers.

The game has only slightly improved.I can now deal with my inbox and send my explorers out.
But the game still takes about 40 minutes to load properly.
So all I do is log on sort out my mail box and send out my explorers.
As for playing the game properly.
It is still impossible.
So if other people are having the same problems as I am.
Then you will not get many people spending money on the game.
I certainly won't. Until the game is completely sorted out.

Wondering why the logon issue isnt mentioned, there are multiple people in our guild who cant connect unless they use a VPN, even in its current state surely the most important issue is everyone being able to access it so that you can get a broader list of bugs that exist in the game from a more diverse user base.
1 day it works smoother than the other day. but i'm happy there's a more open communication, and i hope it'll stay that way. my island always loads up fully, but it might be due to the fact that i have a more recent/powerfull computer i11900f , 1660super, 16gb ram. but even with that i get the "out of memory" pop up box every 30 mins or so .

Adding another voice to the chorus of being unable to login at all (hammer man) since the maintenance on the 4th.... also disappointed to not see this mentioned as something that's being worked on.
You should have fixed and improved the unity version BEFORE going in production with it, only on test servers.
Now it's from the release that i don't send my 100+ explorers to researches because it's too laggy and doesn't catch the clicks and I lose like hours to send them all..

well at least inbox sorted for some people but the more pressing bugs are not done yet which might suggest you dont know how to fix them.

How regularly can we look forward to a news update? Once a week would be nice, at least it might give some hope to those of us affected by the (swear word) hammerman.
Like lots of others, I haven't been able to play since the 4th of August, so any news that holds out some sort of hope is eagerly awaited.
The connection issues remain for so many since BB made changes post Unity. 3 weeks have now elapsed, with no information as to why BB made changes causing the problem, and no information for a fix to the problem.

i press play now and the game is loading very quick after 40 min. i an barely see the building on the map so take this new unity version and threw it.the old version was loading very fast so spare me with explication of what i should do on unity version ..... i did and not working .after more then one month you can"t play .know i am sorry i spend money on the game.
Hopefully there will be an update so that we can visit our islands again? It would be nice to see if it is still there ...

Hi all,
Well I can move round the map fine, today i sent my Explorers out slowly just over 100 wasn't I patient.
Yesterday I did a Young Woodcutter, well I took my time, but the Generals kept changing their names, I have two Anslem, but all of a sudden I had three, Mary had become another Anslem I picked up what should have been Mary, she became Vagus and Humble, General 270 who normally does just no: I camp when I do the map, he decided to do 1,2,3 camps, of course no way could he be retreated, only did the adventure because I was lucky enough to get a Threat and Compass from Excelsior Gambling. No more Adventuring for me till it's sorted.
But once the game has loaded which does take a time to draw my island.
I have 6 gig memory Graphic card and 32 gig memory, so no shortage of memory on my part I can whizz round the island though and spin mouse round and round no tearing or lag so that's a positive and of course Excelsior still working as in test which wasn't in the Client, so pleased having my little mechanical man throwing the crystals in his tummy.
Let's all hope the game will finally be sorted Unity will be better then the Flash.
As all of you, I miss the chat and seeing whose on among friends and Guild members.
I'm having a moan and I can login some peeps cannot, last couple days I have logged in, would show up as inactive before, because game just froze so didn't bother.
But I will pop in daily just to check guild quest and if I have the patience send out my Explorers .
Well keeping fingers and toes crossed for fixes for the game to make the game enjoyable again.
Then I can spend a bit of my pension on the game as I have done.

I am getting the same screen as Cattier. I am logged into my account but end up at a beginners screens and failure. I am L80 and am not starting again. Any help would be appreciated
Hopefully there will be an update soon so that we can play again.
I suppose BB knows about the more common issues by now? (not able to log in, flooded islands, no mail, no chat, difficulties sending out geos and explorers, generals switch places and targets on adventures....) It would be nice to hear back from them about what can be done and what will be done.

Why am I still getting uplay not available. I have been trying all day and no joy. Is it some sort of 'new club' I have to join?????
I noticed that my Epic Farmyard has lost its max production, now it only produces 20 items per cycle. I wrote a ticket earlier this week but no response. Please tell me this can be fixed.

Somethings changed since last login try I have my island back but things look weird ...but 1 issue at a time I guess
Just did an Arctic Explosion mini mission today.
As others have also said before: While a general is selected fx a YGG then if a different comes back and the notification says "general ready" the selected general window changes to the general that just came back. Makes it very difficult to do adventures. It causes to send the wrong generals at targets and causes unnecessary losses and wounded generals.
This really needs to be a top priority to fix.
Sadly it will probably cause me to not do adventures this event and I and probably other players too will miss out on rewards.

Also, and this may not be that important but still. When generals come back from an adventure, some of the "true" landing zones are no longer able to hold generals.
By true landing zones I mean the spots that generals occupy automatically when returning from an adventure. Some of these spots could not be moved to manually as it was before, but could be occupied automatically upon return from an adventure.
It is the landing zones in sector 1 (numpad 1) below mayors house I am referring to.

Nevermind this probably. I just tried to send out some gens and then canceled the adventure and logged off. When I logged back in the gens we're back in the landing zones that were missing before. Not sure why it failed before.

You get a notification if someone quotes your input or if a BB/Forum MOD mails you to tell you something is inappropriate. So this should give you a notification.

If you have checked your subscription settings and they should be sending you email, then I would guess the notification module has either ceased to work (like the calendar in this ancient version of vBulletin which is probably unsupported) or been disabled by BB. I've also never received any notifications, and have just started to play with the various settings.

Since this update I haven't been able to log in. The progress bar just stops. I also get message of some Java errors.

Asked BB_Traffer on chat on Friday what was happening re improving the game and got the usual cliched answer to look on community update and that new changes had been made on test, of course I am too thick to have already looked on community update....not. So off I went all excitedly to test and guess what, it is no better than it is on live servers. Maybe BB could start having respect for their player base and give them genuine feedback?

maybe he was hinting for you to read the timing of the updates, as both were planned for after 5PM
this morning, after clearing cache , i've tried the game.
huge performance improvement.
also there's no more Zone Refresh messages
are we not testing the same servers? your name came up on G1 many hours before the updates were planned/deployed too with the same statements

yes, updates were deployed on Friday evening/night on test server. i was using web/edge browser to try it
Dont think he has 'normal' office hours - he is als CM on US-servers so need to work late.
I dont see any improvements beside those mentioned in change log - locked zones and star problem.
Maybe there are small improvements because version changed from old testserver verstion to same version as on live servers and that almost noone play on testserver.
Still have zone refresh - even on adventures.
found 1 improvement - generals have warp to adventures ( less than a minute )

Hi Guys, I went to log in as usual on Northisle (level 70) and instead found myself as level 1 on Newfoundland. I did set up this in 2015 apparently though I do not remember. TBH I just saw my usual Avatar on the home page and clicked without checking home page log in. (Also watching TV)
I also found 1 mail in the mailbox from BB_Traffer telling me the End of the World Event starts tomorrow and because i cannot currently take part I received 100 map fragments in compensation :D
I am currently working up a few levels.
I have managed to log in as normal to Northisle by using a different browser. phew.

This is pure gold, not only did they outsource it, the outsourcer outsourced some of that!!

And the team working on it has reduced
Zeppelin supported us in managing the reduced small team of engineers from then on.

as it implies they have moved on after the 3 months and we are left as we are with slow tinkering by the BB devs who were not up to the original move.

For the past two evenings I have tried logging into the game and it keeps failing, stating 'Connection to server is lost'. Last night I finally logged in two and a half hours after first trying. This evening I have not succeeded at all.
My pumpkin fields are now unbuffed and my explorers are not out collecting pumpkins. I am very disappointed and frustrated with the game at present.
