Hopefully the performance will fix the Zone Refresh but I suspect not. Shame as that along with the generals jump are really annoying.
At least the Quest won't keep jumping, hugely detracts from the game play during events :(

Looks good. Nice to see some of the annoying bugs being addressed.
I suppose this update means server downtime. Any information on when that will be?

I lost a PFB after 2 days of being dropped on me. Will it get returned to the person who dropped it, as i have had zero response to the ticket i submitted to tech support?

hint - try to use ci/cd for faster deployment ;)
And still server side bug of charming geologist / charming deposits disappearing in few hours is not fixed nor a priority (and many other bugs)

All good updates and nice to see some core issues being addressed - can we also have a heads up for the next key issues that have made it into the plan?
Building cooldowns and jumping generals would be nice!

so I spent a gems for SP and Obs to get a cooldown I need. Now it doesn't work, and you won't fox this issue as I can see from the log. Is it a marketing trick: if you want a cooldown as you had, spend more gems and buy an extra building?

i've no idea if the stated bug fixes work......it was taking so long to load and not drawing island, i gave up. So total failure at first point of "playing" really, making all the other bugs irrelevant
Don't like the sound of the endless 1 page message list, bad enough already trying skip past a "buff-bombing".
Sad to see quest log still not being addressed, it's crippling performance, turning even short letter quests into an ordeal.
I want to see fixed PVP game, we cant switch attack units. :(
PVP is somewhere at the back of the list- it works in client if u really intent on doing it
Please, don't forget to fix the Scared explorer as it was noticed through the Halloween event.
they are not likely to fix anything between now and maintenance anymore unless it is already on their list- the package will be finalized and then maintenance will roll it out next week- dunno if any maintenance was already schedulled this week either- but they wont mess with the package on monday for sure
So if it is not in this deployment, you most likely have to wait till valentine event maintenance unless we are extremely lucky and get one in january

It seems the old mail system was one of the biggest drawbacks impacting overall performance. The new version brings speed gains all over. You can try it on the test server. A significant improvement.

Been down 3 days now and no sign of maintenance to fix it.
BB also got confused because we screenshotted an error message that refers to the client, assuming we were using that, but error is coming to everybody.
Uploaded memory dumps, console dumps and reports from sniffers, all 4 main browsers hitting the same brick wall, missing <key> values over and over, something got seriously corrupted by that maintenance.
Would rather have no event than no game.

It would be nice to know before the end of the work day today and not left for us to find out tomorrow when we can't get in, just saying..

I sometimes get zero response also then I get an email saying ticket closed because support did not hear from me for 4 days
I find that kinda comical that we have to "drop them a line" to ask how our tickets are going on
Long running problem with the ticketing system tigger, been several years now the system has been closing my tickets before support even respond, so have to create new ones quoting the old reference to reply with more info etc... which then also closes before response, and before you know it you're referring to 5 or 6 ticket numbers just so they can string the conversation together.

Buff: Fixed an issue that caused the effect of the A Handful of Balloons buff to be less potent than advertised
Building: The Balloon Market can be moved using the Move Building tool again
Building: Adjusted the Celebrative Lookout & Ghost Lantern to give out additional loot when more than 5 of them are placed on the home island, up to a limit of 10.
Building: Adjusted the Christmas Trees to give out additional loot when more than 5 of them are placed on the home island, up to a limit of 15.
Event: Fixed an issue that caused the remaining time of an event to be displayed incorrectly on login
Localisation: Fixed various localization issues shown as UnknownID
Mails: Replies to replies of guildmails are no longer sent to the entire guild
Mails: Collecting trade mails via collect all feature does no longer delete resources
Skills: Fixed an issue that caused Explorer skills and traits, which increase loot on treasure searches, to not function
We also extended the time of the maintenance until 15:00 CET.

Don't open a new ticket. Open your email with a ticket confirmation link, click this link to open the ticket. Once you are there, submit a second post to update the ticket and leave it opened/active. Worked for me many times. And if the ticket is closed automatically as you mentioned you can reopen it the same way (add new comment) and it won't be closed again by the system. Anyway response time is very long... But the ticket will be in the queue.

We don't use the old support system anymore, the new support system technology is different now. So far, players who said their ticket was closed unanswered have found their answers in the Spam/Junk/Marketing folders. If you still can't find it, please share the TicketID with me, and I will look into it.

The FR instance will receive another update today and our version will also be updated with additional fixes (please see the changelog update).

in my world, if something goes wrong with a code, I do restore backup, and continue to work on staging/test server. Unity prefers extend downtime and go live with new bugs... Why hire this team?

Appreciate all the work the team are doing behind the scenes to get this out, but this is a heck of an overrun..... at this rate we will lose the daily log in, if we hadnt had extended buffs on they will all have run out or caused problems in the eco - I hope others keep their barracks and buff buildings stacked up!
Here is hoping for a good solid release fixing a lot of the issues to make it worth the extensions and the challenges the team are facing... fingers crossed!
im a little sorry but does it really take BB almost 12 hours to make an update not good i quess ?
They just fix the Cooldown and the Charming Geologist issues as well what is missed from the change log ;)

worryingly they had already launched the updated stuff on the French servers and caused chaos there so now they are launching the same here with patches to fix the mess from the French launch. This boat has a lot of patches on it Captain Ahab, just hope the whale doesn't notice.

Last round I got a couple of tomes from them if that helps, not sure if there are other issues seems to work ok just very low chance of anything other than omniseeds :)
lol i used to get about 400 refills pr explorer now about 150 ? : )

I guess I finally call it quits now :)
This was the last straw
its worse than it was before and I didn't think that was possible.
im guessing that the extra time they needed was to put back the older unworkable programme, as the newer one crashed everything.
Zone refreshes on adventures every 30 seconds. Cant even click on last sent general.
Absolutely no change at all. they have given up.
i have no problem on Newfoundland, yes its still lagging sometimes, and graphics quite not good enough as the old flashy was, but there is no mandatory changing of generals as least if i am attacking

@Traffer - is there any reason why the random Generals' behavior hasn't been fixed?

Locked out with exactly the same behaviour that hit the French servers last week.
First the incomplete "Anniversary Event" splash screen appears and halts the loading bar.
After a long wait, the man bashing his computer appears slowly, not animated.
Then over a long period of time, loads of the "unable to connect to server" popups fill the left of the screen, as the game loads a generic avatar with blank levels, achievements etc..., 28 licences and 0 of any other resource in top bar.
unlike the French disaster, my friend list does appear though, for all the use that does.
You've had a week's warning this update was broken, why the hell did you go ahead with it?
Heya Trafffer. All my pumps are in. Did the update work/patch get implemented? Our ATG crew (what's left) are pretty close to walking away.
Locked out on Northisle as well, doesn't even get past the bizarre Anniversary Event splash screen, just sits there.
Trying to close it, or use the browser refresh button leaves you stuck with "waiting for w02 g02" for ages until it tries to reload and again stick on the loading screen. :(
This is remarkably similar to the events of last year when you locked hundreds out of the game, did the devs cut n paste from that update instead of writing new code for the current version?
The Anniv Event can't have been cached on this computer, I wasn't even using it then, the faults are clearly at your end.

And of course, also locked out on Sandycove too, unlike Northisle it does eventually get through to the generic avatar screen with correct friend list showing.

Going to try the client as a friend in French server found he could get in on that after Unity failed in last week's update.
If that doesn't work, thanks a lot BB for cancelling Christmas with my TSO friends.

Thank you! Saw the message now when scrolling down all the way to the bottom of the list. Somehow it was sent to me back in 1970!
Everything starts up just fine, don't now what you all are doing. Client has latest swf and starts, portable updates itself.
Quests for 50 Militia and 50Cav, building licences also work now.

If you are having issues with the client, its best to post in the client thread. If the "play with client" button is not appearing then you likely have an issue with the tampermonkey/greasemonkey part of the wiki guide since it's the browser rather than the client which adds that button.
Unable to log onto server - keep getting message - vertical messages filled whole screen - server connection lost. I play using unity.

2. Building Licenses - Some players still report missing building licenses. Make sure to look into your inbox as this is where you should find them. We are also investigating this.
3. A bit too much ... Guild Licenses. As above, we did run a script that should provide you with the missing guild licenses, but unfortunately, some of you have been given too many - we are aware.
The team is working, and I will keep you updated.
We apologise for the inconvenience.

I think you will find that it is because they use vbulletin,( vBulletin 4.2.5 is end of life and will not be receiving any future development. ( they are using 4.0.4 ) ) and they haven't enabled a plugin that allows that.

No, this is updating what I tried to get round BB's latest mess up.
Have posted on the client thread specifics about that, so currently cannot get into the game via Windoze on any of the 3 major browsers nor Edge, cannot get in via client as detailed on other thread, but have managed to get in via the beta client on a tiny mobile phone screen, toosmall to be a viable option but might lead to a workaround while we wait for BB to undo their mistakes.

Loading: Fixed an issue that occurred when loading into the game upon login.
Event: Converted Halloween Event Resources.
Items: Removed excess Guild Licenses.
Reminder: this year's Christmas Event will start tomorrow (Friday), at 10:00 CET!
They should have investigated when we first reported it broken a week ago.
This update should not have gone ahead in such a sorry state, would be better to start a late Xmas event than have no game at all.
when have they ever listened to feedback and acted expediently - thats flogging the proverbial dead horse as we know all too well
4 hours to do nothing, out of the 3 issues getting fixed I only sorta had problems with one, my dead cems did not get removed, other than that, no login issue, no licence issue, and no halloween items to remove, and that is if they manage it in the four hours. Watch for the extension

I think the problem they have now is the increasing belief from more and more players that nothing is getting any better despite all their claims.
Yes, that has been a problem even when they introduced client and in all honesty, they compound the problem by trying to fudge the issues a bit and polish when u know the problem is more severe.
Basically we know where we stand but not why- we can guess why unity was implemented with all its issues that were known at the time but there hasnt been nearly enough clarity to create understanding so it is die hards that hang around or people with new machines and limited stuff who have fewer issues running unity (and hence wonder what we are going on about :p) A large group in between will vote with feet alas - we all seen the numbers go down and wonder when we get below the treshhold for BB to keep this running and fixed

Got back in on browser tonight, so it's a conditional thank you from me until I see that the lessons have been learned.
The past year has shown a culture of doing things backwards in development.
Tonight's experience has been the most playable since the client was taken away, tbh this is the first acceptable version to go Live since that date, all that has gone on in the interim period should have been confined to the test server, we should have been playing Live in a "last known good" ie: the client version, until a version this playable had been developed, what we've had to endure in the meantime has been truly dreadful, and driven away a number of dedicated players.
Even worse was using the French servers as "guinea pigs" again, but ignoring the player reports of the disastrous effect it had, it shouldnot have then been inflicted on all the other language versions in such a parlous state, better a postponed event than no event at all for many.
What was appearing to happen tothose of us locked out was that our browsers were "speaking in Unity" to the servers, but the servers were responding in part-Unity and part-Client, so Key Values were not translating correctly. Yet using the Client version, however unofficially obtained, we could get in.
I suspect that code for this years event was copied over from last years, which also coincided with the conversion from Browser/Flash to Browser/Client, and manifested the same problems that blighted so many players then. If that is what happened,it should now be blatantly obvious that this is too risky a practice, much safer to rewrite the event launching code from scratch under existing game state conditions, not lifting code from a previous transitional period, and yet again, this should all have been proven first under the Test environment, not Live.
Please learn from this, and when your players are reporting major problems, for the love of God, please listen to them.
Not sure if the 'Gem Package' from the Merchant-Epic items is broken since the updates/hotfix. A week ago it worked, but I am sure it did not work today. I think i had 16003 gems when I logged on this morning, I complete an 'annoholics tour' which gave me 50, then the gem package, now with 6 days 15 hours remaining, and I have one gem pit, so i should have over 16153 gems but I only have 16092. And that means as well as it is broken you owe me 100 gems or 600 Star coins.
Still no Foreign Ship! Please fix it or remove/replace the quest.

No Pirate ship... yet another step backwards. Outstanding BB at unpicking the game, slowly breaking step by step.
Performance suck, mail crashes if you select more than one type to collect - note selecting Loot with both explorers and something like Choc bonus crashes the game.
Question: In the last two years, has there been a successful patch that hasn't broken something? I can't remember one

I logged on to see if anything had improved after this latest patch, and that still took 10 minutes.
After I had loaded a second time to get the game properly loaded, with chat working, it did seem to run faster than before, so some improvement has been made. But still nowhere near acceptable.
BB's developers still have a long way to go before Settlers online is playable.
Expect an answer some time in january.
