wrongfull interception ?

Ok somewhat dissappointed atm but here go's

I trying to take out sector 6, chuck and his group.
To do so i 1st killed the most right camp and attacked chuck directly.
To make sure i would reach him a second army has been send to the moth northern camp guarding him.

the 2nd general started battle and my main arived at chuck.
Visually i saw both batles start and continue
I saw the count down line underneath chucks camp go to sero and got loss msg for 2nd army

I saw me hit lvl 24
Then my 1st army bailed on chuck and moved to the most northern guarding camp. i was lvl 22 again.
My army killed the most notrthern camp and then killed the other guarding camp.
chucks group got reinstated.

Seems to me the timing of the killed chuck camp (visual) timed togther with the interception.
Think this is a wrong way to work. once i started battle interception should not be working anymore till after the battle.
