I am unable to add friends?

Currently I am on level 12 and I am unable to add any new friends to my list.
When I search for my friends - they are not displayed (Even my friends tried that and they could not see me in the list)

Please help!

what server is your friend on?

How do I find that?
Both are on Newfoundland!
