I noticed today that when the games first loads a hint is to refill your mines before they empty and destroy themselves but I have no idea how to do this. I've been waiting for my mines to empty then searching for them again but after seeing this hint I'm wondering if there is a way of refilling them without doing this?

You can buy refills in the gem shop or find them as rewards on adventures.
Most people only do this on gold mines that they upgrade to level 5 and never allow to deplete.
I have a gold mine and an iron mine that I keep at level 5 just for the deposits I find in adventures.
Then I run buffed and sell the ore.
If you do decide to let your mines deplete, the license will revert back to you when they do.
You need not demolish the depleted mine, just send the geologist out to 'rediscover' it.
