Well, that didn't last very long, did it?
Been sat on a nice stable max population for quite a while now, and up until this morning it showed a very sensible 4520/4520.
Then, after today's additional maintenance, looks like the population tooltip has gone to hell again, with a very silly 4639/4520 as shown below.
Sigh, 1 step forward, 2 steps back. :(

Just kill off some troops in an adv and it should be fixed
sounds like some of your settlers have been made homeless. perhaps this is a realistic update after all.

It isn't fixed. I was over 1k under max pop before maintenance, when I logged in after maintenance I was something like 100 over max pop, then about 10 mins later it had reset TO max pop. Then after adv I was under again but available settlers was 0 for about 3 hours. Now I have 140ish available pop and it's showing at max.
It is definitely not fixed. Ironically, before the 'fix' I wasn't affected by the issue - all the pop were as they should have been!

I did a few advs, not lots, in the 7 days before... and a couple of lootspots. Ok I can't say for sure that I wasn't affected before it, but I don't see how it can be fixed when I experienced the jumping pop I did AFTER the maintenance and before doing an adventure. It was definitely showing 1k pop BELOW the limit before maintenance, and was over it after. Doesn't sound like the bug you describe about getting extra before the fix.
