I have already upgraded a few...and I never checked the increase in storage...it is just chance that I spotted this today :(

Looks perfectly fine to me...
+9000 for increasing level 4 to 5 and +18000 for increasing level 5 to 6, as the table says in your last screen shot.
The figures in brackets are the increase from the previous level, with the other being the total for all levels up to that point.
So, for example, level 6 is 300 + 1200 + 3000 + 4500 + 9000 + 18000 = 36000
