Never seen platinum weaponsmith light up as buff-able with hammer here either.
Probably one for the Bugs section as the tool-tip for the buff certainly says Platinum.

not working for me.
If you want to use a special buff to buff the Platinum Weaponsmith, you can use the Weapon Boost buff (x4, lasts 2 days); I forgot where it's gotten from (can't see it in the merchant) but it's listed as tradeable, so try trade for it in TO. :)
