Sounds good.
It would be interesting to have something to do in that space - a quest chain is a decent idea. Each stage removes a bit at a time perhaps?

It's meant to be an island, not a flat building site, hence things like trees, mountains and swamps. Need to learn to work with what you have rather than wanting more and more.
