Have a section in the merchant where you can pay something and get something random back.
Very much like Mysterious Adventure Box where you pay Map Fragments, but in this case you could pay with other things like adventures you don't want and cannot sell, buildings in your star menu that you aren't going to place on your island, resources etc.
