I've just gained 50 pop for no reason

So what's changed? Why have I gained 50 pop since last night?

Do you mean max pop? Did you have any houses leveling up?
Do you mean current pop? Did some people move in over night?

Because this possibly could be a bug, I've moved this to the appropriate section.
