Four Winds Quest

Ok I understand that this quest is split between certain levels, 26-35 , 36-45 and 46-50.
I am currently level 36 and the first subquest was to pay 4000 tools! A friend is level 35 and he has to pay 500 tools.
I know we are split into different levels but thats a huge difference for 1 level! Id understand if i was level 40+ but it seems anyone unlucky enough to be at level 36 will be stung heavily in resources.
Oh yeah and the rewards are different as well, I will receive a watermill and 500 gems upon completion, anyone below level 36 will get a silo and 500 gems. Not sure what level 46 and above will receive.

the rewards are in ratio to what you have to achieve - level 46 and above have harder quests than those below so this is reflected with the rewards.. Its the same as the guild coin rewards for the guild quests....

im level 47 i would get 1 silo 1 watermill and 500 gems but my 1st thing i is i have to find 30 granite through very long treasure hunt

Any idea what would be the next quest ("From the mine") for levels 36-45?

Here is all data about the quest and tasks. Data came from this picture, with translation by me and Google. More by Google. I colored in red some tasks that could be problematic. For tasks involving finishing an adventure all that matters is that adventure is completed after the task started. Adventure can be started before the task. For tasks involving producing settlers, using bread does not count as producing settlers, but love potion counts. Still, it takes a great deal of time.

6. Pay 10000 sausages, own 200 crossbowmen. Reward: 450 coins
7. Produce 170 titanium bars, own 2000 granite. Reward: 200 titanium bars
8. Produce 250 settlers (not using bread), own 3800 steel swords. Reward: 400 bread
9. Buy 2000 coins, own 100 elite soldiers. Reward: 400 brew

I would be more concerned about the time frame of this quest. Two weeks and as a level 46+ you start with a quest that can take you 2 days already. Then the next quest is producing 20 damascene swords and paying 5k marble. Dama swords take 1 hour and 13 minutes each, buffed you still need half a day just to produce them and hope you can be on as it is finished. Lets hope the other ones are less time consuming so it is at least somewhat feasible to finish it within the very limited timeframe

Question that has cropped up in help on my server: when it says "earn 10 granite", does that mean you have to earn EXACTLY 10 granite? Someone received 30 granite (from a search started yesterday) and the quest didn't complete, someone else received 10 and the quest DID complete.

There may be other reasons why the quest didn't complete, but just wondering if anyone else has seen this interesting quirk.

Keep in mind that you have to earn the granite using a SPECIFIC treasure hunt. Like short, long and so on.

They told me they'd done the right length search.

As in other quests, you first have to see the text and only then send the explorer. So if they started the search y-day, it does not count, only after they open quest. At least it works like this for daily quest when you are supposed to buff or be buffed.

2nd subquest - produce 100 exotic planks and pay 3000 marble
3rd subquest - sell 4000 resources to other players and produce 100 irmas.

For the earning granite quests it must be done with the specific treasure search, i.e. earn 10 granite in the long treasure hunt or earn 30 in the longest! I sent a few scouts out at 10 pm last nite and 1 of them found the required granite this morning so I moved on almost instantly, bear in mind I have savage scouts and a lot of ppl could be waiting a long time for normal explorers to come back and hope they find it first time!

2. Experience at least 1 new adventures. Have your explorer do a short search for a new adventure.

I don't know if just starting the adventure would work...

If the link is correct, then it's completely horrible.

I would have to build a damascene weaponsmith, a crossbowsmith and a titanium smelter.

And then the adventures. It's ok if they send you off to an adventure. But if you really have to get granite... Motherly love has a 33% chance to give granite. So that means there is a 12.5% (well stranger things happen every day) chance you'll still be without granite after 5 attempts. Ooh wonderfull!

And doing all this, a black knight and at least 1 but probably more Motherly love and surpriseattacks in 2 weeks?

I hope the link is wrong, but at the moment all my settlers are heartbroken and the island is flooded with tears. They were so excited, but I dont see how I could do this. If I actually wanted to, but having to build all those expert buildings.... bah!

8 is 250 Settlers

Well, after the update last night, my 'Four Winds' quest promptly disappeared, then reinvented itself back to the start again. Already looking dodgy, was it ever tested?

I had a look at the requirements... I'm level 50.

By the time I've bought all the map fragments that I'd need to get granite from Surprise Attack. Then buying Pirates so that I might get ML.... ( I never seem to have a surplus of Pirates as it keeps being used for guild quests). Then I need to do enough ML to get a granite drop there, too. OH - and I need to buy BK adv as my explorers rarely seem to bring it.

I've not done maths... But considering my experience in getting granite as loot, that SA cost 500mf, Pirates cost around 200gc, BK 12-1500 on Newfoundland. Also - having the weapons buildings is something many of us have chosen to bypass as it makes no sense whatsoever producing them as all the high end weapons drop often in loot. So a few of us, yup, including me, would need to build 3 high end buildings that we do not want, nor have any need for. This is my conclusion:

If I do not do the event: I'd probably have enough to buy 2 silo's and 2 watermills from G3. Which is preferable to 1 watermill, 1 silo and 500 gems. If I include the granite and ewp cost for the weapons buildings - I could probably get 3-4 each of both silo and watermill

I don't remember seeing this new quest on the test server, what is the point of having a test server if players can't test everything before its introduced to the live game?

Why couldn't lower level players get the opportunity to do the level 36-45 version and level 46-50 when they reach the level? Three winds and two winds?

+1 Bluefairy, I can't even attempt to do the quest as I don't have the resources to build the things I need, what a disappointment this turned out to be.

This has never been tested on the test server and having seen the requirements for each part I can understand why. It is the most awful set of quests that I have seen as a level 47 player. I suspect BB knew that it would be very unpopular and difficult to complete which is why it has not been tested on the test server.

Shouldn't we count in all the rewards? For levels 46-50 you don't get just 500 gems, silo, and watermill. You also get 625 exo planks, 200 exo wood, 500 granite, 1150 coins, and 100 dama swords.

I'd considered that Dialecticus but for my level set at least, as far as I can see, the only Quest that doesn't cost far more in time or resources than it could possibly return including the gems and Watermill is:

8. Produce 200 settlers, own 5000 longbows. Reward: 300 bread

Especially with Easter so close there is, to me, nothing in the Chain worth doing. And I'm very sorry to say that, it did look fun. Own 500 Longbowmen? Really? I have no problem with the idea of a resource sink but this is a bit much and just too close to another Event with things I very much do want.

Yeah count all that and do the quest chain with those resources!!!

I already know i wouldn't have gotten to the final quest and the rest is to much for to little for my minions and there king ;-).
Don't get me wrong i love these quests as an extra to the game keeps you motivated and gives you a fast reachable goal but this one is not for me :-)

Yeah, I'm not doing it now I've seen that ridiculous chain. I do at least one Surprise Attack a day and I don't think I've ever had granite. In fact, I haven't had granite on an adventure or lootspot for weeks now. And why on Earth would you make us make so many longbows?!

I've got several problems with the quest:

* I have no need for a damascene swordsmith/crossbowsmith/titanium smelter. My settlers are happy without, and I've always given titanium-ore etc to friends who do have them. No need to all build those buildings.
Except for the quest, which suddenly asks me to spend 10k granite if I want to finish the quest. Why does expect BB us to follow the narrow path they've laid? There are so many ways to play, give us back the freedom and joy to build the island we want, without the pressure of quests asking for those buildings.

* The adventures. I just checked, and found no motherly love or surprise attack on the market, and I dont have them in the inventory. Given it might take several attempts to find granite, that is... a problem. Surprise attack costs 500 map fragments, and not sure if BB has one, but I missed the latest map-fragment copymachine.

* 2 weeks.
That's not a lot. I need 2 days for a very long treasurehunts. Just when that's done (hopefully with granite) I'm off for 2 days. So 10 days for all the rest. Uhm... not much if you dont find granite the first time. And if I have to spend soo many resources, I dont want to depend on luck to be able to finish.

So, a rediculous event. But after I saw they fixed the locked-quest problem by replacing it with a new bug, and seeing the announcement for the trade-tab is still there although it was cancelled 2 weeks ago or so (but it takes at least a month to delete a line, it's hard to find the backspace-button ya know!) it fits the picture of the latest update. What a disaster.

I thought this looked manageable (difficult, but manageable) until I saw the requirement to get specific loot drops from a specific adventure, all of which would require you to do that adventure three times on average.

Specific numbers:

Find 600 Granite from 'Bandits Nest' loot - chance of granite from adventure is 33%, total average losses = 900R, 198S, 300C
Find 400 Granite from 'Old Friends' Loot - chance of granite from adventure is 37.5%, total average losses = 1100R, 195C (ignoring the fact that chance of finding adventure from WotS is less than 25%)

And you realistically have 4 days total in which to do those 6 adventures.

That's not difficult, that's impossible.

I'm sorry, only a total moron could have created that quest chain. I was largely supportive of the massive error of judgement that was EotW, but this is just awful.

Explorers have just come back with 30 and 60 granite respectively, from the correct length search. Quest log still says 0, and once in a while will disappear, only to come back as a 'new quest'.
Seriously, how about fixing some existing bugs, before adding new ones? :(

having looked over this post i feel a bit concerned at the timing of everything i have done ten searches in a row befor and not had one lump of granit if this happens again ill never be able to complete in time and even if my first guy come back with granite the rest is looking a bit daunting too, 500 long bowmen seriously? i suppose its one out for the longbows but js ludicrous imo. I tend to agree with blue aswell with the amount of resources being payed towards the quests i could easily afford to buy a silo or 2 off of trade and one more thing why is it a silo for 26 - 35 and a water mill for 36 - 45, a silo is better because there are more outs for wheat, strange reward replacement? sitting here scratching my head and asking why?

I was really excited about the Four Winds quest. I like the idea of it. After reading the list of of sub quests for the lvl 36-45 quest however, I think it is safe to say I will not be attempting any of this. Why not? Couple of reasons:

1) I seriously doubt I'll be able to complete in time.
2) I have have never even seen a Bandit's Nest adventure
3) I have been playing for 8 months now, and gotten exactly one Old Friend's adventure. I doubt I'll find another one in the next 2 weeks. At a chance of 1/3 of getting granite I may need even more.
4) 1200 coins plus 500 longbowmen for a 300 brew reward? You must have made a typo there, my friary spits that much brew out in less that 2 hours (unbuffed).
5) As it is close to Easter I am saving resources to trade for easter eggs. Most of the sub quests require a considerable amount of valuable resources making the timing of this event is just wrong.

I don't mind up giving resources in general, I like the idea of going on a hunt for certain items, I can deal with having to source certain adventures but please can we have something that can actually be achieved in the time allowed, has a half decent cost/benefit ratio and isn't right smack bang in front of another major event?

Sigh, again a quest in the category 'not worth it', at least for 46+ if you don't have those expert buildings already. Costs 10k granite to build them, the rewards aren't worth that - and suprise attack is a costly adventure too, which may be hard to complete several times.

So no thanks, BB.

As a related note: you still haven't given me any reason why it would be worthwhile to build any expert building beyond an exotic woodmill. The results can more cheaply be obtained from adventures (and in some cases from the TO; but in 95% of the cases you want the weapons anyway, not the intermediary products). If you want us to own those buildings, you have to make it more worthwhile.

As you can see they try to force us to build them - pay carriages in GQ, build those buildings as side quest, use them in Four winds. It is just an attempt to correct the fatal flaw in design where XB,DS and cannons can be easily obtained from adventures and TO.

Main problem are those exotic adventures that you have to pay with map fragments, or chase from small adventures. If loot would give me 100% of what is required then the the whole quest would pay off, but with 33% in both adventures it's just too much.

Some people report that the very first quest (bring granite from long search) is bugged and does not complete.

I can only agree with previous comments; having seen the whole quest chain, this event is a total bypass as far as I'm concerned.

*sigh - another potentially great idea that has been ruined by the Devs total lack of knowledge about how the game is played by the people who matter :(

IMNSHO this is a failed attempt of an resourcesink. I don't mind wasting some resources on getting hard to get buildings, but this is just absurd. Newflash to BB an resource sink ONLY works if you demand large quantities of resources which are plentifull. And granite, is NOT one of them.

Also, stop trying to work around the fact that NOBDOY in his right mind is going to built those expert buildings. Get 51+ levels out there, create new troops make sure that the weapons CAN"T be found in adventures but ofcourse the resources needed to produce them CAN be found plentifull in adventures and modify the expert buildings so that they can produce the weapons needed. Problem SOLVED!!

i can buy watermill with amount of time n troops spending of some worthless adventures lol :)
