I agree - the Christmas collectibles are very thin
Throwing it out there just for fun....
Random generators are usually based off an element of the system clock and a modulus 10 routine,
they generate a number between 0 and 1,
so usually to generate a random number between 1 and 25 (for example) would be 25 * (random) + 1
often, these are weighted to push the numbers into a desired range - so perhaps 20 + (random) + 10... this would generate a range 10.001 - 29.999 (depending on precision)
I guess my point is that it is not that hard.
So much event emphasis is based on this simple thing I find it stunning that more emphasis isn't placed on getting the numbers reasonable.

I felt it only fair to edit my previous post. During my afternoon I picked up 27 collectibles, and it was a nice mixture of regular and Christmas. I don't quite have the 30-30-30 yet, but I feel more certain that I will get there. I'm back to my 'random is random' point of view.
I hope others are getting some improved luck as well.

I'm sorry Mannerheim, but I have to agree with Dorotheous, We should have the same information supplied here as every other language server, to do otherwise is both unfair and quite frankly insulting. I did however read that entire thread through google translate, all 31 pages, and I did not get the same impression as you. In fact I was quite heartened that the majority were feeling as let down about the lack of collectibles on the xxl, and cited much the same argument as I have presented.Quote:
They spawned there on purpose until last weeks change and AFAIK the change was done partly cause of feedback when more people progressed and possibly when trying to improve the spawn system. There is a lot of info from BB every week or two at German forums and above linked post and thread has the latest info about changes. Its not all random changes.
It also became quite clear that they had not been given the information regarding the `no collectibles on archipelago `by design' ' either. Whilst google translate may have got it wrong, but it still came across like they were still not confident in the cause and that, they were still concentrating on main island spawns to get them through the event.
Just because we have a good community, does not excuse BB from giving key information about changes to the game to all servers in the appropriate language, its why we have Game Managers. I have checked all the dev diaries and all the change logs from just prior to xxl to now. NOWHERE has it stated that collectibles will not be spawning on the archipelago, and more importantly NOWHERE has it stated that those spawning on archipelago ( prior to clearing ) were not intentional, and therefore misleading players by expectation for it to be inline with the `expansion'.Quote:
They don't have to post every single decision or piece of information there is to all languages and regions. Dev diaries are for main things and change logs secondary.
There has been ( and still is ) an issue with the drop rate of Christmas collectibles, and I can understand if in the interests of the event that `de-spawning' the archipelago might narrow down the search for the generally low collectible bug which seem to coincide with the launch of xxl. But calling it by design, is not the solution, and the feedback from our German players on that thread seems to support the case I put earlier. :)
BB gives very little feedback on anything. It is not just about this. I cant see it doing us any good that the german server does get some information. They cant expect us to go search for information there.
I did get collies on the archipelago when I first cleared it. I can make my own conclusions ,- and did notice that when I started finding more than 5- 12 collies, there was none on archipelago. So they fixed nothing. Just rolled back the collie spawn as before the archipelago.
It would be nice with some official information. Would save people the trouble of searching there.
They may think that pretending everything is fine and there is no problem ,is the way to handle things and that they can fool us. But to me it gives the opposite impression. Instead of giving the impression of a company that knows what it does and is professional about it. it gives me the impression that they have3 no clue at all.
Being open an honest would give me the impression that they dont think we are stupid fools and that they take us serious. The silence game just makes me think the opposite.
When we get no information we draw our own conclusion. They dont seem to get that. They might have less cranky players and much less speculation if they started giving more information.
Thank you for fixing this, now back avg of 24-25 colls :) But still no colls on the islands, only on main island, but still glad to be back to my old average amount of colls :)
The thread I linked was the one with info about the change being intentional and the other feedback and comments were in other threads before the Christmas one. There were hundreds of pages of talk about collectibles in various threads after Halloween had been running for a week or two.
For the second quote I mentioned the change log entry about collectible fix which in theory could mean that original spawning was unintentional bug or part of the problem and changed.
I agree that there should be more info available on hot or priority topics on all regions without huge delays, like during Halloween when I had the bug from day one the only place to find the info that something is actually wrong was the German forums. Many other people struggled with spawning bug and the achievements in chat without knowing that there was already semi-confirmed info about it being real issue. However small things don't need to be posted everywhere as it would again lead to no extra communication rule on all regions as it's not realistic for each region to cross check/translate each others findings and comments daily or weekly.
the problem seems to be that they use the same code as halloween to spawn the event collectables.
this obviously doesnt work as there are 3 different collectables and you actually have to use them in great numbers to make something else.
at the very least they should have changed the requirements to 10 of each for making the basket with presents.
the right change of course would be to bring back the last years spawns.
if nothing is changed its going to be halloween all over again, collect all possible collectibles and still fall short of the achievments..
Issue isn't totally fixed, I had a collectible on the archipelago today.
