Its a search for rare items. Does not always mean you will find rare items. You need to look at the bigger picture: Given 1000 returns, what % of those returns are actually 'rare' items, and what are their worths.
Remember, this is a game of 'little' improvements here and there, which add up over time. If each rarity search brought back 100 beans, it would kind of negate the need to do any adventuring at all :P

You best option is setting them all to the artefact search. Yes they bring back a lot of junk but the provide you with x3 & x4 buffs which can be used on coin.
More coin = more options.

Does anyone have lucku explorer with artefact search?

yes 2 luckies with artefact and 1 with rarity (he usually brings me a good buff to use, even when he doesn't manage to find beans)

Rarity search can be lucrative if u have the numbers. I have been playing since Dec 2012 and have every scout currently available fully upgraded.
15 savage scouts on artefact search
3 tavern scouts on rarity search
3 lucky scouts on rarity search.
All are equipped with lev 3 pathfinder and other time reducing upgrades.
15 savage get me 3 rainbows average a day, they search twice a day at 10hr 12 min per search.
3 lucky can search 3 rarity searches a day at 6hr 48min per search.
3 tavern does 1 search a day at 18hr 24min.
Those combined gets me 12 rarity loots a day. I get on average 500 - 750 beans & roughly the same in guild coins per week.
These are my results over a 6 month period and may differ from someone else with the same setup.
