Realy nice then, I am rly excited about the iron chain guide, keep up the good work.
...was hoping you had shown "the best placement" of marble masons in zone 8
I dont think is posible to make a good building pattern in zone 8, unless you want to sacrifice one building license for one storehouse, to make the marble production time eficient, but the question is, do you realy need so much marble?
I realize you have farms in the way, but aren't the two 8, and two 12 spots infront of the mayors house worth maybe moving your farm fields for ?
"Oh Smurf, where do i place ma iron minezz?!" :P
Please dont give up creating guides!
Love this guide so far but, would there be a chance you could create a list/chart/table of the "ideal" locations for each building (Bakery = 6, Coking = 12 etc)??
is their a thread where someone has posted where all off these positions are?
Pretty nice guide:)
Awesome! Really nice and useful guide. And the pictures of placement are awesome too. Thank you so much RubendePuben. Are you gonna make another of these? Please please please :) Cheers Sage and RubendePuben ;) Awesome work you did! :)
I searched but saw nowhere that any one posted grids of the map so... here they are:
Grids
Good guide thanks alot.
Awsome map update there MrH4m
This is good thread, it deserves more attention.
And map grids - credit for that goes to unknown player from Ger. forum, I was lucky enough to find it (I don't speak German so I just clicked on all links that I saw there lol) - my only credit is to link / post it here after I've searched this whole forum for that particular link (and failed to find it).
Already linked that in another thread, but it fits here =)
I've been trying to find layouts with Sagesmurf's pattern and I've found a few that are quite decent, here they are:
Sector 2 In this pattern you can include a firwood production chain at the right, similar to the one that is posted in tutorial 5 here, right after the woodcutters and forresters at the right, 3 farms can be placed, example here , 18, 14 and 16 seconds spots from top to bottom. And another thing, i tried to move the 2 above 16 seconds a bit to the left and it seems you can get them to 14 seconds like that, you can place other farms on them, your choice, example here

Sector 6 I tried various spots to place the storehouses here, this one seemed best, of course you dont have to build 2 storehouses.

Sector 7 In this pattern here, a hardwood production can be set at the left/right side, build farms, or if you want, both combined.

Sector 8 In this sector, two storehouses can be combined if you have the building licenses.Regarding the marble masons ive built here, they're only put as a suggestion.
Remade the whole sector, if you still want to compare it to the old one, here it is.If you want to make your own, found a screenshot here that shows in detail the times that settlers spend on the roads between buildings, explained by sagesmurf in his first video as well.

I realize that some people have already found these patterns, but it seemed best to have them posted here for the new players and of course those that haven't found them that show interest in the production times. Cheers and have fun.
Nice additions =)
Awesome guys! Thank you so much, Kess!
Thanks for making this! It kinda helped me! :)
Now this a very nice guide (and comments too), helped me immensly. I still do have a question though, how do I go about placing meat/sausage production chain? And is it worth it at all to start producing sausages on lvl 21, baskets do cost quite a lot.
I use sectors 2,3 and 9 to place hunters, and about the placement, 12 seconds or 14,your choice. This is possible if you check the images and videos posted on this thread to determine where storehouses can be placed to obtain such placement. As for the butchers 10 or 12 seconds; of course these are only the ones i use, aren't really mandatory, if you cant place many buildings, you can choose 8 seconds spots, like i said, your choice. Hope it proves useful :)
Thanks this is really helpful but I sadly did not discover this forum until too late, I have my buildings all over the place and there does not appear to be a facility to move them once placed?
they said they will implement it, i hope soon enough because i have several that need moving as well
anyone found good placment for s9 ?
Hey Smurft thx for your input. It is a very useful waste of time!
This is what i did
Basic setup proposal for the tutorial, based on what i did. This setup is meant to be constructed by the time when level 16 is reached.
I welcome constructive criticism and advice.
a) a sustained inflow of pine planks:
4x pine sawmill
2x pine cutter
4x pine forester
b) a sustained inflow of stone
2x stone deposit
5x mason
c) slow but regular inflow of tools
1x copper mine
1x tool maker
1x copper smelter
1x coking plant
1x pine cutter
2x pine forester
d) adequate inflow of bronze swords
1x copper mine
2x bronze smith
2x copper smelter
3x coking plant
3x pine cutter
6x pine forester
e) sustained inflow of brew
1x brewery
2x farm
2x wheat filed
1x well
d) adequate buff availability:
2x fisher
1x provisions house
e) bows (speculated)
1x bow maker
2x pine cutter
4x forester
f) bread (speculated)
1x bakery
2x farm
2x wheat field
2x mill
1x well
Watch your tools count. Do daily quests. Send out explorer to search for treasure once u mapped everything you can.
Doing it like this took me about 24hours to get to level 16, almost at 17 (need 41 more xp for 17). My buildings were "poorly" placed but near the storage . Only used main center and one storehouse. Was considering if i should use more storehouses for better efficiency...like about two more for the above setup.
Speculated means i did not spend enough time to test it.
What comes next i guess is the current setup upgrade or just letting the game run for some time so resources are accumulated for further expansion.
Game looks nice for beta version. I hope later on more "choices" and flexibility will be added.
Great tutorials thanks.
For each chain has anybody listed out which buildings should be in each time slot?
Thank you SageSmurf. Wish I had this before I jumped in with both feet. I have set up replenishment areas and then just placed wod cutters to clear the rest of the areas. Now at level 22 but game getting very slow.
Thanks again. great videos.
What a great topic! First of all I would like to thank SageSmurf for the whole idea and amazing tutorials (keep up the good work!), I would also like to thank RubendePuben for the additional layouts, and also huge thanks for TCarrcon (from german forum) for creating the grid map.
I have also let myself to make the following (hope you find them usefull):

Hope you like my first post on this forum! ;D
ps. SageSmurf feel free so post the link to these maps in your first post in this subject
Added Dynuels one of the main posts.
Full credits to him for this awesome map!
Where is the tavern in that big map? Nothing on that map looks anything like what the level1 tavern I'm supposed to place. Does it need to be near the storage, or not?
Nicely done taking someone's work, paste it together and not even bothering to ask for permission, that's how people are these days :/
hi very nice vids but is there a chance u can post some pictures of ur island with all the buildings from the vid tutorials?
Please include captions with your videos - I am deaf. Thank you.
nice with all the background noise on your vid's, makes them pretty useless !
I watched the tutorials and smurf you have put a lot of effort into them. but I have just one question, is there like a simple placement map which shows the BEST places to build all the different types of building. because I have to admit, the tutorials confused me to no end.
