It's not really "browser game" as it's not HTML based. It's a flash game. Has anybody thought about packaging it within Adobe Air? There are plenty of Flash games that have been repackaged to work within Air, and then portability is a non-issue. Flash is dead, remember :P
I have an old Galaxy S2 and I can usually get the game to work for about 2 minutes at a time before crashing - usually enough time to send out Geos and Explorers, so I bought a new S4 thinking the better processor and memory would fix this, unfortunately not the case I have managed to get in to the game on the new phone (using Firefox) but doesn't last as long meaning I can only send one specialist before having to reload (which is a pain in the [ backside ]). So yes I suppose I didn't buy a device to fulfill my requirements for this game - but then no new Android device officially supports flash, so which device would you recommend?
The way things are going the developers must be thinking of other platforms for the game as Flash is disappearing and becoming obsolete, (meaning more security flaws that won't be updated). Surely they want the game played by as many people as possible to increase the income, I realise it may cost more to develop for other platforms but then they can increase the price of gems to recoup losses because that'd be a better idea than decreasing them to get more sales (please note there may be sarcasm here).
I am considering leaving the game as it struggles to run on my home laptop (yes I have a PC which is hardly ever turned on and I won't be using it just to play this game) pretty much the whole computer market is heading to tablets (unfortunately) and so surely if Bluebyte/Ubi plan to keep this game longterm (with as many people playing as possible) then they have to develop something for other platforms/devices.
On a side note If someone would like to tell me how I can get the game to run better on my phone I'd appreciate it cheers.
Please be careful on words used,

i have tried settlers online on android it doesnt work so good can only load map but its unplayble, cant almost press anything.
Android App would be very nice:) !
The argument that flash is disappearing and becoming obsolete ignores one simple fact. You're using flash to play the game right now. Even if they announce no more new flash updates ever, the fact BB are using flash knocks the argument for hoops.
On a mobile device like a phone you will never ever see the screen resolutions that larger devices enjoy, this means on a phone the game will never play the same way, some of the longer range blocks will be impossible to do since you will have to do a lot more scrolling of the map between your garrison and target camp. To get the game to run on a phone would need complete redesign of the UI, even then you would have current phones which would cause problems due to their particular screen resolution. Apple have announced they are working on a Iwatch, are you going to be demanding a app for that.
You'd have to question what use the app would be, would it allow you full game access, or just access to doing things like the trade office, sending out explorers and geologists, refilling deposits and general stat information.
That'd work nicely on a phone that wouldn't need to run off flash, just need to talk directly the BB's back end servers. That'd be very handy for players without having to give everyone the full game content.
I'd say that's well worth a development! (Mostly because I can't play the game at work but still want to be "connected in")
Lol, be nice if the devs spoke to the 'back end servers'.
I could suggest a few choice remarks. ;)
Does not work by default on a tablet. Simply because Android is no longer support Flash Player.
However, doesn't mean it's impossible.
Just check out this link to see how you can get Flash Player working:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xA2erlhALA
But unfortunately, after doing so the game is still not working except with FireFox. For all the others, the game starts initialising the login queue and gets stuck.
Also with FireFox you can't play the game:
1) Cancel, Close and Accept buttons are not working.
2) The only way to navigate through your map is via the camera, which is exactly what you don't want to do on a tablet.
3) Everything is verrrry slow.
4) You cannot open your menus since clicking on it does not work.
Hello,
Long time ago I stop to use my android to play the settlers cause it stop to update FLASH on it and my browsers don't support it anymore. Now have no time to even be in Guild, I just resign from it and have limit my time on settlers at the same time.
There is a solution which could help a lot for many though. If we could use some client to login via app which we could download from our store :)
That could make me more back in this game and at least my performance would be higher and I could get back to guild again.
What do you think???
Settler Peter.
Play on puffin browser or photon browser. need to pay it
photon browser works fine for me... not as good as a laptop but does the trick if you are out and about and just want to check up on your island.
I test puffin and photon. I think puffin works better, but photon works fine. :)

Sony Experia report: The free version of Photon kept on crashing (so wasn't willing to pay for it), but both the free and paid versions of Puffin work well enough to get daily login rewards and do basic upkeep.
Puffin on iOS works too, I wouldn't say you can play the game on it but it does allow you to get your daily log in and set a few trades if needed but scrolling the map for placing buildings is a bit arduous.
I think eventually they will need to move away from flash and cater to the tablet and portable device market. Currently these devices are outselling computers and in the interest of making the business viable they will need to move the game (or future iterations of it) to a portable platform. Since android and iOS seem to be the 2 biggest contenders for portable devices I would think making the game work, or at the least an app for these would be awesome.
Unfortunately I also see the other side of things. This game looks incredibly complex and massive and to redevelop in a new platform would be overwhelming! It would most likely be easier starting from scratch with a new game. But as a compromise an app that can just do basic things, like sending out your Geo's or Explorers, messaging and those kinds of things would be sweet. I am totally addicted to my tablet and I would love to be able to use it to do some upkeep on my island.
My only comment regarding this thread is that I am a little surprised at the anger shown from both sides about this suggestion. Why are you people so upset...lol. Its just a suggestion and I think its a good one, even though I don't see it happening due to the nature of the work. They would need a small team of coders just to get a basic app working properly. But at the end of the day this is just a suggestion. If you don't agree that's fine, but it won't hurt anyone if they do cater to us portable device lovers :P
/me waits patiently for a new portable Settlers online...maybe in a few years :D
use PUFFIN BROWSER> Settlers works perfectly.
Because, unfortunately the game will be 'dumbed down' to meet the low expectations of these devices.
Flash was already a major mistake, with a proper client version we should have a much better game, less bugs, less lag, and much more scope to add on more interesting features.
Problem with client versions is who's client version. A game I used to play had one, a custom one, problem was the guy who developed it left the company leaving no one who knew how to put in new cool stuff.
I tried puffin, but facebook thought that I'm in the US, so something fishy was going on with that browser.
Is there any feedback concerning the android app? Even in order to be able to do basic things like sending explorers, production ques, rebuilding, selling etc.
I've tried the solutions that have been proposed, (team viewer and puffin seems the best solutions) but although they work, the result is frustrating to say the least (and i have a Samsung S4)
BB are missing out on a massive part of the games market at the moment you can get apps for android, apple, xbox, tv boxes & the list goes on.
at present the game works a little on mobile devises but there is too much information to send & recieve for it to work well. apps are the future of gaming so it seems daft that there isn't one available for this game (i have a galaxy 10.1 and it barely manages to send out explorers)
Hello, I'm very interested to find out: is it possible to develop a mobile version for and Android?
does exists? this game is very catchy ;)
thanks!
I would love to have this on an android platform so I did not have to bring my PC to play it, but I would like even more for TSO to drop adobe flash, since it sucks big time. My game crashes at least twice a day (independent of PC's: I play on 3 or 4 different PC's) It crashes up to 10 times a day and it is intensely annoying ... so ... drop flash . _Please_ and when you do, making it platform independent would be awesome :o)
I have an iPad and Windows phone so in the name of equality and fairness I demand apps for those too.
Face it folks this was never meant to be played n a mobile device so don't be holding your breath for a portable app.
as i'm sure many of us have tryed, and im sure there may be many out there that would agree maybe in time who knows but the point iam trying too make is ... i think the settlers online should be brought out as an app for many reasons some of us dont have time too log on and maybe would be grate too take with us any where we go so we can log on maybe as we travel long distances so on and so fourth so come settlers bring this out as an app for andriod and iphone users .... !!!! PEACE !!!!!

I think it could be a good idea if there was made an APP so that you could play TSO on a tablet, It would nice when on vacation were there is Wifi, then instead of having to carry around whit a laptop you could just have your tablet or Ipad with you, and when you have a free moment, you could check your settlers.

Works on my Windows 8 tablet, just a bit slow, but enough to get some stuff done. I presume in a year or two tablets will be powerful enough to run Settlers :)
