I have to say, I understand the outage itself was out of their control, but there are things available to keep servers running like UPS's - Im pretty sure there are some available for large servers, no?

You are assuming BB are using large servers jollyfog ;-)
BB is using Ubisoft servers and services...
My point still stands.
Although here's a scary thought for you. Ubisoft generated revenues in excess of 1billion euro in 2013 (the last financial period this is available for). And yet they run this size of online business out of a single data centre....... No wonder those gerbils get tired.
Ever thought it is possible the lines were out, and not the servers themselves ?
UPS gives enough power to shut down the servers in a controlled manner.
Diesel generators could keep a moderate sized data center running for few hours.
To keep a data center up and running 100% will need a small power plant.
And all this has no use if the connectivity to internet is down.
just seems weird for an online game not to have precautions in place, but, meh...
We at least got compensation for it, I can now start making cavalry like crazy.....

I have 3 hours left of premium. This outage hindered one of my friends completing his adventure fast so it has occupied my lootspot slot. It has also hindered me doing as many adventures as I planned to do. Would be nice to know if you plan to compensate us for our lost premium time or not.
im hearing alot of players saying no prem compo hasnt came threw, oneday is an insult ,why is this, ive now had 3 days and 3 more to come of lost prem, ty BB for mucking the game up..first with fixing a broken fix and cant do that 100%, now with the weather excuse.. dont they have lightning conductors and insulated power plants there.and sever houses have there own power plants to stop spiking, cos england do i build um.......we even have 20mm nylon insulating pads between any external to internal steel in the sub frames.. and in 3 days your planning to roll out another event..good luck

If they move the servers back from Bongo Bongo Land, I have an old Vic-20 they could borrow. Bit dusty, but it's reliable.
Sorry Nogbad, that Vic-20 wont cut it. I hear they have upgraded to a cluster of half a dozen 80286's under a desk next to the gerbil feed...
Give me a Vic-20 over any number of X86's any day.
At least now we know where they're located, a warehouse on the edge of Karachi Airport. ;)
can we parachute drop a few dozen gerbils, keep those wheels spinning...
Lol they would be better off using ZX81's. For those of you to young to remember those they was advertised as being capable of running a Nuke power plant, so as servers for this game they may just have to run them is the special slow mode which the ZX81 was capable of.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Been 2 months since the last major outage, and we're still awaiting the Devs to "make a decision" on that one. :(

Even worse is not a single mention or post from our Community Manager. At least my expectations are being Managed...... downwards
The worst of this for me isn't the silence but the outright lie on the news page of the log in screen and Facebook!
Oh and the humour I find in the lack of BB response but early active MOD responses telling us to be patient whilst we 'Give them chance to fully implement it.' followed by the tumbleweed in later posts as even MODS realised that we are being shafted.
Another unhappy one here - I lost premium time due to the outage and still haven't heard anything other than the statement saying that it has been done (no it hasn't).

Yes thank you for the nice gifts. :)
