ya saw the sale, and was like no way with this lag!
Its not lag.
Its bad coding practice where someone puts blocking code within UI.
In non programmer language it could be :
You paint wall, then break while in half of task, and go make your self tea, drink it and read news, then return and continue painting.
(Do i need to add that you should make it all after finished painting and not while, because spectator may get very bad impression ?)
Try to disable the flash hardware acceleration. It helped (not fixed) for me.
BB, after last maintenance there is CONSTANTLY HIGH LAG, which make game really unpleasant! Please do something about this because this situation began to be UNACCEPTABLE anymore! Why you don't test the thing before make it alive!!?
Umm- I know we have had lag since the PVP update but the game has now decided I have not logged on for two days and has given me two large red X's. Despite my advancing years I have a distinct memory of playing the game at various times in the last 48 hours. Isnt it about time someone sorted this shambles out.
Seems to me Dragonia knows what the issue is. Not much point in any further moaning from us, BB must be aware, and are hopefully finding someone who can code more efficiently to re-write this. Just hope they can implement it in maint.
Fix the fgame... Noone wanted this update that much that would be acceptable to have so many fissues... I log in and log out because i can not do anything on my map...
Don't disable the the whole flash. Only the hardware acceleration. http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/t...e-graphics-lag
u r right but i guess the game still works
Monday morning here .. PLS DEVS spend time making fix..a simple line of changed coding's will work gr8..another week of this is totally unexcetable
roll out changes during ya normal maintenance will do.. i know my words are falling on the deafness of ignorance but im saying anyway
lag is doing my head in , so much as giving me headaches waiting for parts to load , unable to play until its sorted.
Seems a lot better with unticking the hardware acceleration. thanks
Hi, I have just finished a VLT and what a traumatic experience it was :( generals skipping about all over the place.... camps rebuilding themselves 3 times.... generals taking 5 or 6 attacks to do a single suicide wave .... at 1 point 1 general turned into 3, in short it was a total shambles :(
Please please BB fix the ordinary adventures as well as the pvp.
explorer comes back and says found an adv but no info on what adv after several mins i just hit the check
I saw the delay right after the PvP colony setup had made. All the windows open much slower and the images on the windows jump where ever they like. The update was a real mess.
But that windows slowness isn't the worst one. Worst is that the normal adventure playing has become scary. The generals move on the map out-of-sync. I have witnessed my own gen starting to walk back'n'forth a destroyed camp site and his own tent. Few of my senior guild mates have had bad accident with blocks when general seems to be in different place than he really is and round blocks go wrong.
Just remove the update totally and revert the system back to what it was before the PvP update. That would set all things right.
I also vote for a revert to before this mess of an update. Go back to testing and get it right, including no lag, or just scrap it entirely. The colony rewards are junk anyway so people will soon realise it's not worth doing
a 3 hour maintenance today just to remove pvp buildings that shouldnt be tradeable? No news on fixing this mess thats we've been left in since the pvp etc was introduced? Im gobsmacked, absolutley gobsmacked.
Well Ive warned guild that I for one won't be online much whilst the game is in such a sorry state. Ill be back for the xmas event if they dont foul that up as well. In the meantime, its daily log in bonus only for me until then.
Way to go BB!
The lag affecting homeisland seems to be gone for me since today's downtime. Hope it's been fixed for everyone, once and for all and not coming back on next maintenance.:) Wonder, was it too hard to be done earlier on?
Yes, it appears to be much better. All windows opening correctly, but I have only just logged in :)
Yey, the UI bug (where ingame windows has been drawing very slowly) looks like is fixed now.
Confirming that : UI windows opens normally now and all UI fragments / controls seems to be in place.
Thank you BB Devs :) good work.
Time to return to game and enjoy new PvP update.
Im not sure if what i want to describi can be counted as "lag" of any kind. More like some desync between what happens on our screen and on the server. First sing of this was (not)completed procuction of new weapons, which is already described in diffrent topic. But today It went more serious. I was doing SotV and i sent an attack that was suppposed to pass enemy intercept zone by just 1 square. I remembered some problems in that are before, so this time i was watching my gneral carefully, all the way along the red area, ready to retreat him. He passed near the red zone, moved for like 15 secs more and then just disappeared. then, another 20-30 secs or so I recieved 'your general was victorious' msg, and the camp i just carefuly watched passing by, was destroyed. Conclusion - what happened on my screen was totally diffrent from what happened on the server side. Wasnt just lag or delay. It was totally diffrent pathfinding, leading to unwanted intercept and serious unit loss. From now on im not playin any adventures untill things are back to normal. Cos for me clearly unplayable now.
Are BB doing anything about the lag in game yet? Have they even recognised they have added massive lag since the last big update?
Again today I had a jumping general, jumped forwards, attacked a camp but used the remains of a setup from the previous camp that I had changed about 45 seconds before.
Looks as if they have dropped the graphics resolution as a way to fix it. Graphics are far less sharp today.
seams BB's idear of fixing things is to drop grafix, are we going back to the days of the spectrum 128, new players wont wont to play on a game that looks like an old 1980's game, come on BB....
trying to push packets threw Flash is the problem, we all know this, but bury our heads, take game and go direct......i pinged settlers and its dropping 5% packets going threw flash..
so your so called fix costs us , not you..i see a pattern here
Read up on flash its for small browser games..wake up BB its 2014.
BlueByte, please tell me you didn't drop graphics quality in order to improve server performance. Because there are very few explanations I can think of why it would have any effect, and they're all awful.
1. The servers are having bandwith issues
That's ridiculous. In a world of flexible, cheap easily accessible cloud computing there's no reason why the couple of MBs of bandwith the graphics take per log-in should have any effect at all. BB is owned by Ubisoft who has its own digital distribution platform, so we know they're able to push the data around.
2. The servers handle some part of the graphics calculations
If this is the case, we might as well just all lay down and give up, because the world is over. But even BlueByte wouldn't violate the Server/Client dynamic that awfully. Especially not for no reason.
3. It's an unintended side-effect of another change
I really hope it's this one. And I think it almost certainly has to be. It seems especially likely when considering that "unintended side-effect" is basically the unofficial TSO motto
The zooming stages have been changed form 16 to 10, so something has been changed intentionally one would think
On the scales that TSO uses bandwidth it is really rather cheap. I could buy an Azure server from Microsoft now and pay less than $0.1 per Gigabyte. That would get cheaper the more bandwidth is used, of course. And that's just what I could buy right now. Most likely BB would be able to negotiate a better deal than I can.
Hello, no attention and locked with the mission has 11 fingers can you send?
Maybe it has something to do with buff "A thousand snowflakes".
From xmas shop: "Note: May slow down zooming."
If they found a separate warning was necessary (first time ive seen something like that) the effect must be quite severe or they are just afraid it will be cause ive tried that buff in the past and noticed no change in performance.
It seems like most calculations are done server side. Combat and other random calculations seem to be done on the servers and the servers need to ok all changes at all time. I guess it's to prevent cheating.
Anyway, there's nothing heavy that needs to be done really so it shouldn't be that hard to get servers running it. The heavy part is running the graphics because it's flash and that's done locally. It almost seems like the game client and the server are having problems syncing. So the local clock is not running the same speed as server clock or something.
The lag is highly annoying.
Just finished a RB, and it was awful.... think I better stick to pirates till they find a fix :(
until now the actual fights have been ok for me, but the combat-display is a nightmare. 3 or 4 messages of the same general attacking, messages of the Martial arts attacking while its the noral general, fake interception reports, dust-clouds at the wrong camp, generals walking towards the camp long after its gone....
Its a miracle the generals do arrive at the right camp to fight. My settlers had a couple of heartattacks (dont worry, with lots more troops then the population limit I can miss a few), but despite the completely broken display of events, the real fighting still works.
