That's right, we're replacing Slim Browser with a new "download client" that we'll be using until our Unity Version is up and running.
You can check all the details here!
wont make any difference
"Adobe will no longer support Flash Player after December 31 2020, and Adobe will block Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12 2021; Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems," Adobe warns users.
Once January 12th is reached, even if a browser supports Flash or you explicitly allow a website to use it, Flash Player will no longer load the content
this is a very old topic . pls let it die in peace
What OS is this new 'downloadable client' compatible with?
I'm getting 'not compatible with your version of windows'
Afraid Adobe contradict this in the FAQs and state that they will NOT block Flash Player from running Flash content until June 2021.
My reading of that is that browser + Adobe Flash Player eg: Firefox will continue to play content until June (at our own risk of course).
Whereas, browser + internal Flash eg: Chrome and pepperflash will be down to the browser company & will probably be zapped in January.
Exactly, it's too vague.
It's reasonable to assume that BB wish this to remain a browser based game, logically that could be using Unity webplayer.
Or will we be moving to a client based system?
Not enough info.
Just hope they don't make the same mistakes King/Royal games did, started porting their games to HTML5 and suddenly they don't work on machines with 32bit browsers or Windoze.
Looks like the muppets did the work on a full 64bit system and didn't check for dependencies/compatability.
Basilisk did similar with the Linux versions of the Eschalon series, versions 2 and 3 asked for dlls not common on most stable versions, only the bleeding edge ones.
Adobe's own employees said on the forums that it will blocked by then and people have investigated that the runtime plugin has had a timed kill switch built in for over 6 months. Things may have changed but regardless what the exact date is BB has already said that you can no longer login with any browser when the new downloadable version comes.
No. Unity webplayer was deprecated several years ago and it was removed from Unity. All browsers also removed the interface that the plugin used so it's impossible for BB to use it even if they wanted. https://blogs.unity3d.com/2015/10/08...layer-roadmap/
What PaulG said is correct, BB will use the WebGL export with Unity which has been the only browser play option in the game engine for a long time.
We are not using the web player version of Unity, but WebGL.

"MacOS: We'd like to make further optimisations and polish to the Mac Client, we're aiming to launch it in early January. Currently, only the Windows client is available. We sincerely apologize for the delay."
