I am not sure BB has the collectables appearing in equal measure, and at this rate will be finding the achievements a little challenging!
Currently have collected 4 spawns, and traded/bought none, and am sat with
4 Bells
64 Candy Cane
12 Gingerbread
As there are only 19d left of the event and so far had only 4 bells in 2d appear on island, then i am not convinced that I can possibly get the 125 required of each collectable in order to make the 5 baskets of presents achievement! If they continue to appear at the current rate, I'd have about 40 bells total from the entire event LOL
yep. im still sitting at 2. :D
Sounds like your guild mates are happy to rob you.
With each spawn of collectibles, you can find up to 10 (in rare cases even more!) Christmas Collectibles providing resource items.
wow, where did the goalposts go?
wow this morning 2 christmas collies 4 ginger bread , but as yesterday a lot of banners spawn when i dont really need them. or do i ;)
Not a single person is buying canes at the moment on Norhtisle. And after 2 days I have about 100 X-mas collectables ratio 20:60:20 so still no basket of present (and quest) for me.
I'm inclined to agree with Roderius tbh.
bells 28, canes 54, gingerbread 16
all collectibles collected so far...
what to say... BB... pls remove achievements from event if you are unable to make them feasible or bug proof (collectibles achievements are always problem in every single event)... other thing collectibles... very bad idea and concept - performance, spawn places (sometimes completely hidden) and so on...
on one server I am close be able to make first basket ( only searching 2 spawns a day ) - on other I am only half way - top achievement is to make 5 baskets - meaning you have 4 days ( mean ) to collect enough for 1 basket. - so after 2 days I think it a bit early to give up. :)
complaning after 3 spawns out of up to 63 is a bit early I think :) - still a fair chance to get the needed 125 bells :)
I've done all Christmas events so far and after 5 spawns (where I got all the collectibles) I'm still 1 off the 25 I need for my quest. 34 canes, 28 gingerbread and just 24 bells. Worst collection of Christmas collectibles yet
canes have always been plenty and breads too little i think.
my memory from the 2 times I have been playing during xmas was that it used to be random. some needed one sort others needed other sorts. I could always just put what I had in exes in TO and someone would buy my 5 bells for 5 canes or what it was.
This year we all have lots of cane and very few bells + gingerbread.
Prices on bells and bread in TO are huge as result. At the moment I have 51 cane 4 gingerbread and 6 bells. Been buying bells and gingerbread for beans to finish first portion of 25 of each.
For 3 days I have managed to collect 12 ginger breads (79 candy and 25 bells) With this rate will need four and half weeks of event to complete all achievements for present baskets. Trade office not working, price for ginger bread sky high ...
bells 36
canes 72
gingerbread 16
(all collectibles collected so far)
Im not just unlucky according to TO. 3:6:1 seems as collectible distribution or something like that. Every single event there is some issue with collectibles at least what i remember. In my opinion collectibles should be removed from game as one of the worst ideas (performance, bugs, spawn distribution issues, collectibles hidden behind rocks, buildings and trees etc)...
I'm getting some of each but a HUGE proportions of Candy Canes - much more than an even spread across the group. At this point 36 bells, 98 candy canes, 20 gingerbread - but still searching...
Dear BB,
Where on earth have you hidden all those bells?
4-5 spawns and only 4 bells collected?!
How many of you have received few bells in collectibles?
wierdest thing havent been able to get many gingerbread at all only had 16 but last batch collectables just finished had 18 gingerbread almost all the xmas collectables was gingerbread men
Bells and gingerbread have been difficult to collect. Generally the number of event collectibles vs the normal collectibles seems ridiculously low. This morning I only picked up 2 candy canes and 1 gingerbread.
well this has been the worst day I got ZERO from todays spawn... never going to make the achievement like this
it was the same last year, it's the same with normal collectibles (think the ratio of herbs to banners) some are rarer than others.
yes, but the problem is that due to the poor ratio, it is going to be impossible to finish every achievement unless you want to pay through the nose in TO. I have collected every collectible on twice a day since the event started and I have 16 ginger.
I will not be able to the 125 needed to finish the achievements.
I don't mind not making achievements where it is my choice. But where the planners/developers mess up again, that it a different matter.
we now have a tread on bells - one on gingerbread and one on collies not spawning correctly. We have a lot of different memory on how it was. And a lot of theoires on how it is meant to be or should be.
So please are all 3 kinds meant to be equally easy to get ? or is it meant to be like this??
- We find lots of canes and dont get many bells or gingerbread?
As i said before - have been playing during 2 events - never had any problems swapping same amount of one kind for same of another, so I dont think it has been this bad the last 2 years.
I managed to make one basket of presents - and have now 14 bells 11 gingerbread 73 candy cane. ( I bought 2- 4 bells and 2-4 gb in TO)

Would be interesting to know whether the people thinking they wouldn't make the achievement a few days into the event last year did or not :)
made my 1st basket of presents after day 3, still 17 days to go and I am confident-ish I may make the full 5 baskets at the end. I only collect 2 spawns a day, but die hards may make the full 3 spawns a day.
I feel sorry for those who can only make the 1 spawn daily, as this part of the event is clearly not to their advantage. Having said that, their best bet is to sell their collectibles for presents so they get them that way - the collie : present ratio is pretty insane, so no reason not to miss out on presents
38 bells
92 canes
26 gingerbread
38 bells
92 canes
26 gingerbread
Very uneven distribution... and its not only about randomness because almost the same ratio/distribution holds for other people too as you can see in TO. More exactly there is more canes than bells and more bells than gingerbread in Northisle world (not only my case)
Think yourself lucky Bart, have managed 2 sets of collects every day and sometimes 3 sets, still on 16/25 bells so not even made first basket yet.
44 bells
114 canes
34 gingerbread
If this is not bug than im convinced that this is BB trick forcing us to use gems for achievement :) every single event there is some problem with collectibles... but do you know what? i could easily buy those gingerbread and bells for achievement (i have or can make enough gc) but its not worth of it and in addition this achievement is boring so no reason. (except to see some full achievement progress bar - you look at it once per year maybe :) and few achievement presents are not worth of paying 15k gc per 10 gingerbread)...
happy xmas all :)
Every year people get frustrated and annoyed at this feature (it's been like this longer than just a year) and every year they wheel it out again in the same way.
Searching for collectables is not enjoyable BB (well, after the first week ever that you play and it adds a bit of depth). Making a random factor a vital part of progress (in the event chain. Held me up for 2 days. Not exactly a lifetime I know, but was it enjoyable?) is just stupid and likely to add to other frustrating factors that lose you customers eventually.
I mean come on! TSO is a very predictable game, that's it's strength; you can organise and plan and forecast (if you want) and you'll get the reward. Adding in dumb random factors (I include stupidly rare adventure loot drops) is a big negative and nobody ever enjoys it.
Well maybe it is all done on purpose. If we did not have the collies to be mad over - we might have more focus on the fact that there is more or less nothing to do in this event. Or the fact that the xmas adventures(scenarios ) are really really boring and meaningless. Only reason we do them is to get the prezzies. Or the fact that this event does not bring anything you can do active to get prezzies - you just sit and wait for explorers to bring. If you played long enough- you get more than you need by just sending explorers. If you are new you must be very active in trade or use money on gems to get much out of it.
But all of that does not get much attention because we are freaking out over collies :)
Just like last year. And the year before, and...

Notice a trend there?
13 spawns so far have given:
50 bells
132 canes
50 gingerbread
I've never missed a collectible yet during this event.
Everyone in our guild is experiencing the same uneven distribution.
Either BB's random number generator is broken, or it's unbalanced on purpose as mentioned by Kanagomi.
There are 3 achievements about "baskets of presents" (for 1, 2 and 5 baskets - together you need 125 bells, 125 canes and 125 gingerbread). You can finish them in mayor house either by collectibles or instantly using gems...
48 bells
126 canes (so now i have enough canes for all achievements)
36 gingerbread (looks very tight, or maybe not even possible without using gems - depends on "luck")
