update - I have now had 60 bells, 78 candy canes and 26 gingerbread - definitely appears to be a shortage of gingerbread compared to the others; and last 3 spawns had 0 gingerbread

Xmas is the most generous/least effort event that BB give us, and, given the time spent with family etc over the xmas period, I really don't want to moan at them for it :)
Ehh no you cannot directly use gems to finish achievements BUT look at the added image tyvm.
You can basically buy any missing collectibles (to finish that present) which if you do it several times to finish the presents achievement.
Also while you cannot buy only a specific collectible for gems in the shop you can however buy them this way.

Well, here is my sad collie story. Today I managed to make my first basket of presents. I am now the proud owner of 113 candy canes, 1 (yes ONE) bell and 1 (yes ONE) gingerbread.
There's no way I will make the achievements if my ratios don't change soon.
I seem to be getting an average of 6 candy drops, 3 bell drops and 1 gingerbread each respawn. only managed 1 set of presents so far
I'm seeing the same pattern
ofc u can get gingerbread with gems... see hoverbox on "basket with presents" button in mayor house (collections tab) and there stands (if you have not enough gingerbread, etc) "buy the remaining items and instantly complete for xy "... yes you can buy gingerbread for gemsQuote:

Every time I cleaned all island from collectibles
im talking about people who collect all collectibles (me also) and probably will collect all collectibles from all spawns and there is still quite big chance that you will be not able to finish achievement without using gems or TO. ofc you can say buy them (bells or gingerbread in TO)...Quote:

more exactly if you have 3 children and two breads then there is always one child without bread... using TO or not does not make diff (does not create any new bread)... only way is to give up (miss achievement)= this creates new situation -> if 1 child give up then you have 2 breads for 2 children or you can use gems what leads to the same...
Oh c'mon BB, this is riduculous! I only got 2 xmas collies out of 30 with this morning's spawn. Both candy canes!

i managed a total of 6 Christmas collectables out of 29 today Hubby got 4 out of 29 .... first set today.
could it be an idea to marge all of the I think 3 treads on this topic.
We have one on shortage of bells, one of shortage of gingerbread, one of the problem of too few xmas collies dropping.
And maybe an official message then of how BB meant it to work.
I think we have it clear that we should get an average of 9-10 findings of xmas collie each time they spawn.
Are the 3 kinds to be equal likely to find ? - yes or no
Right now they are clearly not - my guess from own and guild members findings is, that about 3 times more likely for a collie to be a cane than Gingerbread or Bell.
If this is not how it was meant to be - are BB fixing it any time soon ?

I traded one for one in TO to make the first basket.
I managed to make one more a couple of days ago without any trading.
I have two Collectible Quests a day and I use the Fairy Buff.
i have 12 Bells, 78 candy cane and 29 gingerbread
There is good news though I have found more banners than I have for a very long time :)

I started the event late, and this is the result of 5 collectible spawns. I was lucky enough to get 10/29 gingerbread this evening. *hides
And 2nd spawn was 29 collects with just 7 Xmas ones. 3/7 ginger, 2/7 candy, 2/7 bells.Quote:
