Yep, we need client back or at least choice between client and Unity version!
New players will certainly not stay with this Unity version since it is unplayable!
Takes ages before anything other than a blue map turns up, then even longer for roads, trees buildings etc, and even longer again before interaction is possible.
When interaction is possible everything takes forever to do. Sending out 5 geologists takes minutes where it used to take seconds. Deposits that are found don't show up and a mine cannot be build even if the deposit is there. This Unity version just makes me angry!
Give us client back or as I said at least a choice between Unity version or client!
they already stated that is not possible
they also said unity worked, so everything they say can be taken as fake news, unity has months worth of fixes needed, if they want a player base left, they need to give us a playable game, and atm, that means client

i will say its working 95% at my game,,, so i am not an unhappy camper
Well i trust them,,, why would they lie.
no one have any evidence pointing in that direction.
the lies as i see it is all the complainers, go back to kindergarden or grow up
i cant call anyone a idiot without breaking forum rules, so i wont
Would just like ask for the star menu to be fixed as a priority. A manageable star would at least allow housekeeping as it is even housekeeping is presently so time consuming and riddled with errors that it makes you dread logging on.
Hehe, ye, you've been well established troll on forums :)
Everyone who checked Test server and seen the bugs there has an evidence of BB lying, cause all major problems from Test are in Live version again despite BB repeatedly saying they fixed them and it's only graphical errors left. :)
Anyway, glad you keeping yourself happy no matter the cost ......... lol
Niclin:New players? outside of vacations i havent missed a day in this game, today it was the second day that i havent logged in.Quote:

Once they got things working again at an accepteble level i might be back....if i dont find another daily game before that.....
Hello everyone.
The same version of Unity has been implemented in all TSO instances, so as you can guess, the issues are similar in each of them. I know many of you would like to go back to the download client and wait until the problems with the Unity version are resolved.
At the moment, as announced on our website, the development team is working with the highest priority to fix all "game breaking" issues, which make the game unplayable or difficult to play.
The next update is planned for August, as soon as the fix is ready.
If you'd like to help with this process, we've created a new dedicated thread for reporting issues here. It's very important to report any issues with your Unity version in this thread.
I want to apologise for the current situation and let you know, that the team is working very hard to fix the issues.
Why did you not fix it before going live?
Everything was reported on test. You kept saying that the live version would be better, but this is exactly what we saw and reported on test, there has been no improvements. It is 3 months since Unity test started, and there has been no improvement from then. Why should we believe there will be any improvement with a patch in august? I just do not believe you anymore.
I am very very dissapointed with BB.
Whilst I am aware that hindsight is a wonderful tool, would it not have been better to have taken on board all the faults and niggles found on the test server and FIXED them before offering Tuesday's update?
The end result is a game that is unplayable, as you are well aware, but was this your intention?
I doubt that I will let myself get involved in a Ubisoft game ever again!

when you need time to do those work why not just go back something that works? and I find those has new computers has win 10 64 bits system with 8 G ram . can do
the game. my 32 bits pc and MAC Ipad cant even log in. 6 month ago there is no choice but now you do have a choice . Please take a wise choice .
So out of all the people on all the servers you are the one player for whom the game is working properly? Tell you what, do us a video of your game loading, you sending explorers etc so we can all remember how the game used to be.......
And yes, please bring back the client
+1 to what's already been said. This is just awful. Even if I can eventually get the game to load everything is minuscule. It makes my eyes ache trying to look at any icons or read any text.
As has already been said, the game is unplayable and almost impossible to load at times. There's no point in trying. I may try logging back in at around Christmas time to see if anything has changed but I'm not holding out any hope.
If BB are deliberately trying to kill off the game they've just about succeeded.
I've seen a lot of criticism for the programmers. I guess that's because of their abject inability to to the job they are (supposedly) paid for.
I'd like to send a quick frying-pan to the face to all the bean-counters. I doubt the money you've saved from not paying licence fees for the slightly broken client will offset the complete lack of any income you'll generate from this completely broken "issue" (as we're apparently calling it).
Cheery-bye. Missing you already.
JimmyGreen, if you open up the cogwheel under your avatar and click on the options at the very bottom you can turn off the auto thing (its a square) and adjust to your desired size.
And if I may, BB this is an absolute disgrace. I did not use the test as I could not get in for some reason, but it appears that the information from all those that did is that you still went ahead and went live regardless of the fact that things were not fixed. I am not a computer geek or genius and this has been the only online game I have ever played and until this muck up have enjoyed all of it, even when there were bugs when events started. However, after missing only around 2 weeks in the last 7+ years, I am finding myself not in the least bit interested in logging in. You provided a game for us to play and some of us have used real money, but there is no way I will spend another cent of my hard earned money on this until it runs again, if ever. I won't hold my breath.
Game is broken... BlueByte finally killed it... Not gonna use any more of my time on it...
Well I too haven't logged in for two days,I've logged in every day since joining except when in Hospital and a death in the Family.
Might take a look and see if any better, I have to use options and size up to 125 to enable seeing text and such, it has to be done each time.
I have a good computer, I did the test, the only thing working ok was the Excelsior, but of course more is needed in the game for it to be enjoyed.
Unity cannot be coded to use your Computers Graphics Hardware, if it was it would I have thought loaded fast.
But as it is we have just been given the test version, which of course is slow in every area, I sent my explorers out with the sea as background to stop buildings I didn't want popping up,It took a very long time, I have a lot of Explorers, I cannot go through all problems, there are far too many, I was really shocked that this unity version was made live, bye for now all and I'm hoping all things will be resolved soon, I really miss the game.
yea - lets see when in august their first new deployment is - august is a looooong month and no indication if it will be at the beginning, middle or end- If it is at the end i would say don;t bother as by then too many will have flown the coop and wont return anymore
I would have thought that the people responsible for the game. Would have apologised for the state of the game. They must do something quick to sort this mess out. and give us game players some information about what is happening. At this rate the player base will disappear, as players are leaving in droves. All I can do is log on, then leave. As the game is completely unplayable.
today i sent out my 5 scary explorers, took 30 mins :P
needless to say i dont bother with the others nor with geo's
I logged in again today, the weekly had completed this time and a couple of quests for crystals, the Geo:s I sent out 7, all of them didn't find what was needed. I sent Geo:s out again this time they found what they were sent out to find. A Manuscript had completed, the sign showing completed seems to be there all the time above the bookbinder, but could be just the bad lag, I'm always making books so the icon above the building always seems to be there. I didn't send out Explorers it just takes too long. Bye for now all. Looking forward to Happy gaming again.
at least we had a happy hour - not that it was helpfull in any way - nor was it happy come to think of it
Never thought I would see the day when settlers would be more unresponsive than the wife.
Any move BB makes seems to not work as intended and I think a move backwards will just create problems that we have forgotten about plus new ones. I want to give them this month to resolve the most important issues as they have asked. If they can do what they say then some old players who have not been able to log in and play since the client version may well come back, we miss them.
Perhaps Trafffer, but as I can still get onto tsotesting2 and play the game there, but only get the hammer man on tsotesting and production, I put it to you that there is some (probably subtle) difference in the login/authenticate/authorise/initialise or whatever startup step that is different between those instances.
Suggest - take a copy of the tsotesting2 startup scripts and copy them to tsotesting and see if people can connect there once again.....
in the game client folder (%localappdata%\Ubisoft\The Settlers Online or where the client was installed):
1. delete or rename the file The Settlers Online.exe
2. rename the client.exe file (or client_real.exe if you used the highlight) to The Settlers Online.exe
3. download the client.swf file and place it next to The Settlers Online.exe
4. install TSOlastBreath.user.js in the browser via tampermonkey / greasemonkey
5. on the main page of the game, press OLD CLIENT

Hello, do we use this client with the normal account (European English) or only with TSO
I can confirm the stuff posted by SirriS_RU works. Hopefully this method gets endorsed as a temporary workaround with the terrible state the unity client is in.
I get the feeling that instead it will be classed as being against the TOS and all effort will instead be put towards blocking this method from working.
Hello folks.
We received reports from players that some of the major issues got better for them with an updated Java. The lag decreased, zone refreshed popups disappeared and no java/uncaught errors appeared during a normal game session. Therefore, we would like to advise you, to test this out for yourself.
Please install the latest Java Version from the official page: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (make sure to choose the correct version for your OS).
Note: We know the issue is connected to our system and are eagerly working on it. However, it is still important to keep your own system up to date, and Java doesn't seem to update itself for everyone.
We are aware of this change but I suggest that you do not try it - editing the registry may end badly for your system. There is no guarantee it will make any positive changes to your game, and this method doesn't change the game engine - it's still Unity & the same build.
The use of any third-party tools, extensions, etc. is prohibited by TOS. We are not going to have a "witch hunt", but if we ever decide to activate the script in the future, there is no way around it.
It does nothing to the windows registry. Can you learn more about how this stuff works before posting information about it?
It just replaces the unity client with the old client and adds a button to the homepage so the old client can be launched. Unless the old client has been reclassified as a "third-party tool", it really should not be an issue.
The old client connects to the servers and runs fine the way it did before it got disabled.
I am sorry BB_Trafffer, but you have been lied to by the development team just like us, the "one way process" you were told was just made up seeing as the old client can communicate with the servers just fine. Both the old client and the unity client are just front ends and it doesn't appear that anything on the backend was actually changed.
I have already been running the latest java versions and it has not helped me.
Thanks @SirriS_RU and @Kotugo , this works! Can also confirm that this does not edit the registry.
For visibility I created a thread for this: https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/...792#post365792
