This is a known problem and bb asks that you post exact times that this happens to you so they can look into it

it just happened to me too (for the first time) while trying to visit and buff up an offline friend from the Friends List, around 08:20 CET
i clicked the tick box and it did refresh my game normally

same here seriously the "maintenance" didnt work then
6/2/16. ca 10:24 CET (Denmark). The going down for maintenance popup.
Got in without a problem on my next attempt.
had it 8:20 CET - denmark - when trying to visit friend - tried different friends - some I could visit some not - at 8:29 it was again ok

repeated message trying to login between 07:18 and 07:30 CET, finally able to get into the game
