Still no 3rd Golem, but problem i have is that a friend got his 3rd this morning with no fuss. Strange. :confused:

Well its day 5 and still no second golem, this is really getting more than frustrating now. These sorts of things should be fixed when on the test server and NOT put on the live server until its 100% stable... this is just over the top and puts people off doing events...sad sad sad and a -70 for the lack of care taken to fix any bugs

What does a golem look like anyway? Many haven't seen one since the 1st day.

I don't think it matters much now... those of us who haven't had our 2nd Golems are never going to catch up :( And what makes it worse for me is I have used lots of resources and rabbit buffs to make tons of buffs to kill the stupid things :)
a lot of people are on their 3rd golem now. very sad that the 2nd hasn't even spawned yet and people are already killing their 3rd and waiting for their 4th to spawn
The saddest thing is the lack of response from anyone, ok they have acknowledged that there's a problem, but little else, no timescales for everything to put right etc.

The most likely thing to happen is that they will extend the time of the event to allow for everyone to do it.
At any rate, the 5th golem requires so much resources that by my calculations they are currently worth more than the value of the reward (on my server), therefore killing it is pointless.
Now i am missing a golem! I'm hoping it will spawn during today...
well at rate golems are appearing now, extending the event wouldn't really make a difference. Then there would just be more days where a golem doesn't show up on his appointment.
The 5th one is not the last golem. If people enjoy fighting golems, more should show up but they dont increase in power anymore. I'm not sure I even want to kill #5, it's a lot of resources, and I think the click-quotum will be reached before the golum would be dead. (oh something with *less clicks please*)
Anyway, a post on the login-screen, or an ingame mail with an update would be a good idea when so many people are effected and wondering what is going on. It's the same old "we are aware of the problem" again though. Yeah they're also discussing the colour of the whisper for several months (to name just 1 topic they fail to answer, let alone fix). So not much hope for real information. And it could very well be they just dont know whats going on, why it is not working for a part of the settlers.
But the good news: It keeps the developers busy. It's a relative harmless bugs, and they cant work on new ones now :)
Just an idea but what about the developers posting a message on the login screen, or send an ingame mail? help is flooded by questions about the disappearing golums, support doesn't know whats going on.... is it really that hard to realize a little communication would be lots easier?
"Sorry, we made a mistake. We dont know yet what causes some golems to stay away. We're trying to locate the problem, and when we found the bug we can work on a fix. At the moment we cant tell you when everything will be working as intended, but we're doing all we can to give everyone a happy Halloween event. Sorry for the inconvenience, we'll keep you updated with our progress."
There, it's really not that hard to do. This morning I was sad my settlers still hadn't learned to rebuild fields, although I gave them enough schools and education. But it looks trying to learn the developers some very basic communication skills is just as hopeless.

Trouble is, community managers & support often dont get info either. That's probably not the fault of support/community managers, but it's a problem for the game just the same.
Lots of people are wondering what is going on. Then it's the responsibility of the developers to stay on touch and give real information. Have they located the problem? Can they tell which players are effected, and maybe give them a refund? Do they know how to fix it, or is it still a puzzle?
See, we're not asking for the complete code and exact moment when the fix will go live. But just answering the questions above would give everyone a much better idea of what's going on and what we can expect. But I see BB sticks to it's old and much hated "you'll find out when it's ready" policy. Awesome.
The best fix they can give now is to remove the 2 day wait, which should never have been put in place. People should be allowed to progress at their own pace.

Ok, this is now the 5th Day since my first Golem and still no 2nd Golem! This is ridiculous, if they don't extend the event then it will be impossible to complete.
I am letting you know what's going on, and will let you know when I receive further information. They are currently testing a fix, as I said. Needless to say, you will be the first to know more once I receive it. :) I would rather post in here with what I know than remain silent, as I would like to support my community.

Well perhaps BB would like to answer this question.
Since the testing phase for the golems on the test platform was an epic fail and therefore it could reasonably be expected that the deployment to the live servers would also be a fail - BB having decided to deploy the "dodgy" code anyway. In taking that decision, did they not think it appropriate to specifically gear up to provide a rapid "fix" for code that was almost certain to fail?
If not, what part of the total failure of the deployment to the test server convinced BB that the deployment to the live server would go without glitch?
I think its called "crossing your fingers, hope it works, and if all else fails, it will go wrong on the weekend when we don't work anyway" ...
You gotta love our community messaging. Support says they don't know the problem exists but BB_Alpaca assures us its being worked on.
Shame we don't have the same degree of In-game communication that our friends on the german servers get as this was posted for them yesterday. No idea why its not on our home page - I'm sure its nothing to do with BB rather pushing the 100% free gems sale than inform players as that would just be wrong!

Well that certainly clears up the aim of the developers and the company in general. Nice to know they think so highly of their other servers.
Yep it's sad what is happening,,,,Hope problem will be fixed and we will get freebies too,,,,,
So....
Long story short, at close of play on the 4th day of the issue, and 2nd day working on the issue, we still have no idea when a fix is expected to be forthcoming, or in fact IF a fix is expected to be forthcoming.
Would it not be possible to get a Forum Moderator to close off this thread since it is giving the 188 posters and 8279 viewers the misguided impression that BB might do something about it.
I appreciate how unsatisfactory that will be, but at least we will all be able to move on :)
well 2nd ticket i sent today got exact same response word for word in my email just like its oh its that send them this and it should be ok.
its not ok.
we test thing out on test server tell them the bugs there so they can fix them before it go's live
but even there they dont look at the bug reports by the looks of it :( and just hope for the best

Doesn't say a great deal but the way I read it the suggestion is BB have to implement 2 patches to fix the problem with the last patch being active on Thursday morning. So a whole week of lost Golum slaughtering for some people but more importantly why oh why oh why did BB release the code to start with when the feedback from tsotesting was that the code was more buggy than a bug zoo.
Maybe they should just rename tsotesting to 'that place we want you to visit and get excited about all the new stuff you can buy with the free gems we give you in the hope that you then spend loads more real money on the real test environment (ie production environment) that is so laggy that its pretty unusable....'

wow just came here after having new quest - kill golem, my 1st 2 golems showed up fine, but this time there is no golem to kill!
anyhow I guess i can wait till tomorrow (fix date) and prey the golem has not run havoc on my island and killed my settlers :D

That is a lot of pumpkins missing right now.
The following steps should bring your golem:
- Log out
- Wait half an hour (so your session is closed on the server)
- Clear cache while waiting (see http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/t...-clear-cookies)
- Log in again.
If you still don't see your golem then let Support know.
