Lost the count of times I tried, but I now have 72 paperwork guides in stock (never used one), so it gives an idea of times I tried.
tried with gems/without, tried clearing cache, using browser private mode, etc.
Another fail this morning, pretty upset.
Just failed again to get manuscript recipe, my 39th attempt..........Perhaps I will get it at 40th
it really has become beyond a joke that some of us have tried so many times without success :(
I don't know how many attempts I have made but did the short letters 2 or 3 times and 1 medium. the rest has been trying for manuscript :(

I also think it's a travesty that BB won't respond to the thread or make some kind of announcement about the problem. This thread now has more replies than the sticky post, but BB still won't do anything. There's clearly a glitch with some accounts. The "RNG" must think our account has the recipe, so we're never going to get it. Everyone I've talked to either gets it within the first few attempts or is still trying at 40+. That's not a "random" statistical distribution. That's a glitch. Either they can't fix it or it's getting players to buy gems, so they don't want to fix it.
You're ignoring all the people in this thread who said that it took 10 or 20 or 30 attempt to get the recipe. I understand that it's frustrating if it takes you longer than average, but that's not evidence of a glitch and your 'everyone I've spoken to' is demonstrably false just by the responses in this thread (which also isn't proper data).Quote:

GOT IT!
Tried 4 differents things (first 2 did not work, but tried the same day, so maybe they helped)
1- I bought small pack of gems
2- I bought a 2nd spot from someone instead of doing my ali
failed
3- Spend gems for about 20 crystals to get another quest
4- Sent a 2nd map to a friend, he started it and I completed it.
So now I have few days of manu queued :)

i got mine after 5 tries, i did not use gems and did not do a AB ls, did not buy gems either, just followed the quest, (do have a rph) but random loot does suck

Dropped another compass quest..so after maint done just need to complete AB then see wot's in the box...lucky no 46.I know you get resources from all these attempts but it is holding me back with farmyard quests for upgrades and I have any amount of resources to make the scripts...fingers crossed.

I fully agree with shasnas "Quitting game over manuscript recipe?" and I can not describe my anger because of endless attempts to obtain some recipe.
Just keep trying, while I agree the random element to getting the recipe is wrong, It still would not make me quit over it.
I was getting to have an attempt maybe every 7-10 days (jus from login & dq crystals) It will drop eventually. Patience is required.

Not to dishearten anyone, but I did some spreadsheeting to show how valuable the manuscript recipe actually is.
Say you're a high level player, you have 2 majors, 6 mmas (after easter) and all 3 coa. With a typical investment of 5/10/6 (=21) you're looking at:
55 manuscripts
110 tomes
66 codex
66 codex eat 198 tome, and 110+198 tome eat 1540 manuscripts.
So our totals come out to:
1595 manuscripts (@10h)
308 tomes (@12h)
66 codex (@14h)
Using only the bookbinder this will take 20570 hours, or 857 days if continuously produced.
If the RPH can do manuscripts it takes the total in bookbinder time down to 4620 hours, or 192 days (20570 - 15950 hrs of manuscript time)
Keep in mind bookbinder time is in fact not continuous, you'll miss minutes/hours because of the lack of queuing and therefore buffing is pretty much useless.
The manuscripts in RPH take 7h30, which totals up to 9525 hours or 397 days. But since you can queue and barazek (x4) it, in an ideal situation it would come down to 99 days. If you only do 1 barazek a day which is feasible, you'd be around the 150-170 day mark.
The beauty ofcourse being that you can run bookbinder and RPH together! which means the manuscript recipe alone can cut down your book production from 850 to ~200 days.
This is assuming the investment of 1228150 simple paper 988900 nibs, 159500 beans and 51040 gold coins is not a problem over the course of those 200 days, and ~200 barazeks.
So to those diminishing the impact of (not) having the manuscript recipe in RPH.. here you go.

Guaranteed loot: This mechanism will guarantee a drop of a rare item reward, if the item did not drop after a specific amount of rolls on the loot table. This mechanism will reduce the frustration among the community for being dependant on "luck". More info on affected game elements to follow.
