AUCTI0N back into trade channel!!

i can think of lots of reasons why auctions should be allowed back into trade channel

1.makes game more fun
2.gives everyone a chance to get a good deal
3.makes more friends
4.trade channel gets more busy due to the auction
5.new players see the interaction more likely to play longer

the only down side i can see is that some players get the hump because they cant sell their ls in the mins that auctions last for, seeing as an auction is a trade i cannot see a reason why it is not in trade channel, some M0Ds are against it because maybe they have to intervene when they do not have to trade channel kinda runs itself, been playing the game for a long time now and it does make the game more enjoyable to the majority of players, please leave comments worth leaving thanks alex

+1 if there are accepted rules e.g. there is an ending time of 5 minutes or less, and the reserve price is stated up front.

The other option is for BB to implement an auction feature in trading, where sellers can state the goods for sale, the resource wanted in exchange, a reserve price and an ending time.

Sending sellers to Global-3 doesn't work.

I think it should come back to trade channel, is a hassle changing channels, to the point that I don't change channels using the /j option

I spend a lot of time looking at trade channel and auction were never often and for a few minutes at least, you got good activity... if it comes back to trade channel, I think the only amendment is that if you want to do an auction it has to be no longer than 2-3 minutes

I would thank you kindly not to opine about whether MODs are or are not against it and the reasons/non reasons for such. If you are going to recommend a game suggestion kindly post your own opinions not your theories about others, and for the record the 5 points you make are your purely subjective opinion and not a weighing up of the pros and cons of such.

What an bad idea.

It would totally spam tradechannel, normal trades wouldnt be seen anymore, and this just to please a small group of people who might be interested.
Be glad you got the opportunity to use a channel special for auctions, that way you arent in the way of anyone , and those that are interested dont get interrupted with lootspots and advertorials.

It doesn't interfere with selling loot spot or anything else and if your are worried you might of missed something
stretch your chat box to make it larger.

Alternatively, just post the item or loot spot again... as I said before, auctions WERE few and far between and when they did happen, it got many involved which is a good thing. There were/are faaaaaar more smart'butt' comments from players ridiculing peoples prices that they posted rather than keeping their opinion about the prices someone has posted to themselves.

[insert sarcasm]I get fed up seeing loot spots being posted, one WTS and straight after WTB with an XXgc difference rather than one of them just whispering the other to negotiate a price. I know, lets just have a channel for that too... so 1 for auction, 1 for loot spots and then trade can be left for just trading goods [/insert sarcasm]

I think you will find that once the frozen and nords2 were on the german server it was natural progression for them to arrive here and other servers, just takes time. I also think you will find that the auction channel was opened due to players complaining about auctions being held in trade, but by all means will watch with interest

So nice to see a player who is capable of reading the minds of the devs. Can you tell us when pvp is coming?

Keep auctions out of trade. All they do is clutter the chat tab and make it look even more spammy than it already does. As is already stated there is a chat channel that they can be held on.

Also why is it only those on the Northisle server that are pushing for this?

1. why auctions,
just put a trade on TO, (watch if you have the right prize) and mostly it will be sold in no time ;)
2. it would spam trade chat
3. so NO, never, -1, ... :p
4. i only agree if there comes a new chat channel for it

Being a Northisle player, it is of course hard for me to tell how auctions have worked on other servers. As Sandycove is a newer server, it may be that there wasn't time for a system, or rather a culture, of auctioning to develop. Auctions were dominant before the new trade system and I can remember both holding them and bidding on auctions held by others.

Back then, auctions were integral in trade chat. If we attempt to bring them back, there will be a lot of hassle "educating" newer players on how they are supposed to work. Again, not knowing how auctions have been held on other servers, there may be differences in the way an auction is organised. This could lead to arguments on the "right" and "wrong" way of holding an auction. In practice each server would end up with individual guidelines, which could lead to difficulty if scamming occurs. Support personnel would need to know each server's specific guidelines. Other option is for BB to produce universal auction rules, which in turn might be different to those used on some servers. You can never make everyone happy...

While auctions were fun back in the day, I feel the new trade system has lowered the need for them. On the other hand, I don't see why there needs to be a ban on holding them. I would imagine that, being in a hurry, auctioning off a lootspot that you need to finish off quickly could work for everyone's benefit. My final verdict is that while auctions do liven trade up, the use and need for them has faded and I will feel quite alright even if they never return.

This is exactly the issue here imo, auctions are part of trading whether we like it or not, just like people advertising their TO trades annoy some players that just want to sell their ls.

I think that an auction house would be a great addition to the game:
Put in an item, place a minimum offer, it gets announced in a specific "Auction" channel (Player X auctions Y for Z) and off ye go.
People who hate auctions won't build the Auction House and they also won't use the Auction channel.
People who love auctions will do just that.

This would be a great addition to game, set the minimum your willing to pay and a maximum, Auctions could run for 12 hours, 1 bid allowed per auction

+1 agreed, auctions must come back. Maybe an automated tool for auctions? That would be cool

No thanks, it's spammy. Make auctions a part of the trade office then you can alert people to your auction, the can see the rules and time limit of it and can bit on it without spamming the trade channel

Well it seems that subjective opinion being pedalled as cold hard fact seems to be a running theme in this thread, so here goes:

Trying to trade goods and lootspots whilst auctions are running in the trade tab is, quite frankly, a pain in the backside. There's enough spamming going on in that channel as it is without the added clutter of furious bidding and the possibility of arguments like those that ensued during the auctions in Northisle's G3 channel just before New Year.

right enough of the pIeasantrys BB get an auction channeI, make more content for IvI 50 pIayers, bring in pvp, make some adventures that are randomised,make a server Iotto, dont make workyard so big, we are not robots dont treat us Iike it. Sorry if i seem abrupt but think the settIers is going down the wrong Iines in terms of keeping its fan base happy iv been pIaying for 3yrs now and u wiII see me on forum maybe coming up with suggestions that are good some bad but at Ieast i am trying to improve the game but i am cIose to moving on which i am trying to fight i need some positive input from BB to stay interested

We don't need an auction channel and a server lotto? I don't think introducing a gambling aspect to a game that can potentially be played by 7 year olds is a good idea.

The other stuff I agree with.

weII that was just an idea to try and get rid of the gcs off the server but a mystery box is kind of gambIing and we have had a few of those on here, can aIways caII it something eIse but does the same thing maybe a donation {for a server goaI} to get some sort of perk on mayors house etc, weII we cant taIk about trade reIated stuff in trade channeI anymore and if u hoId an auction u can onIy advertise it once per hr, another tab wouIdnt hurt anyone because not many ppI want to miss anything that happens in g-1 by changing to g-3 everytime so it doesnt get used
