WOW ,....it's been mouths , years , and still no sign of PVP in our servers , wonder why they keep adding pointless updates
and abbandoned PVP , that is the only reason a LVL 50 got to continue playing ....otherwise

So...did you test the Chinese pvp system? Can you give us some reviews and screenshots?
With the promise of a change to the combat system shortly arriving for beta testing, PVP seems more likely now than before.
If anyone know chinese and tell me where is the facebook button to log in i'll play and make screenshots .

Depending on how they implement PvP (or any system) it can be a game killer.
If they make it so it is not mandatory and has no negative impact on anyone not participating, then it could be a good thing.
Mort, it isn't just the principle of PvP though, anything they do do will be verylimited by Flash, the units we have available will make for a very stale contest too. It will be XBs vs Elites over and over, no variety or tactics. There are already plenty of PvP games out there, already set up to do it, kludging this is never going to compete with those, any appeal it might have will very soon wane.
I've already seen another online 'builder' type of game get absolutely ruined when they introduced a Guild vs Guild map, people have left in their droves, those remaining won't even take part in it any more, and many profiles now warn off newcomers, it has been that devastating.
With this game in its current state, the damage that could be done by the developers is truly scary. Already, their reuse of maps has broken existing adventure maps as they still cannot get to grips with making changes that don't affect things globally. Creating a non-playable map out of a playable one has deleted the Landing Zones from the original, and going the opposite way has also had unwanted side-effects.
This is already serious, but to realise just how disastrous this could be, just imagine if the current devs decided to create the End of The World event today.
That adventure map was a copy of the Home island. Fortunately, it was done competently when it came out. But today, with the evidence of all the Football, Easter/Co-op maps, it is quite likely that making a copy of that map, then altering it will have nasty knock on effects for the Home island. If they make the same mistakes as they have with the adventure maps, there is a strong possibility that Home Island will have no Landing Zones. Generals will never be able to leave Star menu, and any new player will come to a grinding halt once they've obtained Sector 4.
It is already happening, the changes made as they try to bodge PvP onto this have already had the side-effect of nerfing the towers' zones of influence. Just look at SFTR or Gunpowder, this is what happens when things that worked perfectly for years get messed with.

I guess they would need to make PvP kind of turn-based and only allow Retreat as an real-time action.
Also, think of the chat fights when somebody loses a battle when disconnected. :(
Yes to PVP, it's optional and home island is safe. I hope it comes in some form of persistable wild zone where there's valuable exploitable resources to be had with some function to build defences.
As for the units, why else is there a new barracks and weaponsmith being trialled on test if new unit types won't be available?
The chinese pvp (arena) looks very simple with a ranking list, they use generals and yellow gems called topaz to buy troops with, and extra power?
(topaz can be bought in merchant)
at midnight (china) the guys with the most points/highest ranks gets rewards, thats it i guess.
(can be wrong since i translated the chinese text from their page... and then tried to understand the translation)

When I started there was a developers diary mentioning pvp also our island's buildings had a non working repair facility and other indications of pvp (including more landing zones i think but not for the islanders use). It was in the developers diary for some time and has been mentioned recently.
Altogether now 'yippee we have a granite pit' thanks very much BB good job' and see what happens. Worth a try :D

The granite pit is a classic case of a designer reading into the feedback something that was never written in the first place. Time and again, we asked for the promised content to be put back into the game, that was the granite and titanium mines. (We know it's coming, the minute they deleted the Landing Zones on the Xmas adv maps is a dead giveaway), and reintroducing the loathed golems for Halloween isn't going to improve matters, just another example that our feedback is not being read, so we are about to enter a period with 2 major events that will leave many with a nasty taste in their mouth.
The game started with many things the granite mines etc maybe once they are removed its not so easy to put them back. A new island that we can go to 'rather like an adventure' where we win it and then can build on it and that have granite mines is surely not so hard. I feel as frustrated as everyone else but I do not want BB to get fed up and give up.
Its a commercial enterprise and however good the basic game is if its not being played they will not continue investing in it. Its not just BB that reads the forum its all the new players and a lot are still joining but they are not staying and I do wonder if this forum puts them off . That said I do think there are new interesting things in the pipeline including a form of PVP. BB's biggest problem in my view is communication.
Edit: I was not saying 'reward bad behaviour' but when they behave well and they do, we just largely ignore it.
