Upgrades to the Magnificent Residence

Prequel:
The Magnificent Residence is currently the most expensive building and it is also strong sink for highend resources.

The problem:
Unfortunately, it is not the most space-efficient building (125 settlers per size of a Frozen Manor for a total of 500 using the space of 4 Manors), so it is widely ignored by people who have the resources required to obtain it and most wealthy players who have these Residences go over to sell them in favour of Frozen Manors - which is a pity for an epic item!

Solution:
Let us upgrade the Magnificent Residence to the point where every player's dream would be to have a level 5 Magnificient Residence on their island.

Suggestion:
Let the Heroic Little Tailor, the "grand finale" of the Fairytales adventures, award a new item called "Magnificent Bricks" in the slot where other Fairytales currently drop followup adventures.
The Magnificient Bricks could be used to upgrade the Magnificient Residence as follows:

Level 2: 1000 Beanstalks + 1 Magnificient Bricks (+75 Settlers = 575 total)
Level 3: 2000 Beanstalks + 3 Magnificient Bricks (+75 Settlers = 650 total)
Level 4: 3000 Beanstalks + 5 Magnificient Bricks (+75 Settlers = 725 total)
Level 5: 5000 Beanstalks + 7 Magnificient Bricks (+75 Settlers = 800 total)

I didn't collect that building, because of need more space. With this idea, I would like to collect and build/lvl up = more time to stay new goal to achieve.

Instead of bricks you could also imagine grout playing a roll in the upgrades:

Level 2: 2000 granite + 100 grout
Level 3: 4000 granite + 200 grout
Level 4: 2000 beanstalk + 300 grout
Level 5: 4000 beanstalk + 400 grout

Awesome idea. Therefor you can be sure that BB will never ever add this.

+1 to this idea, but as Shelob suggests, grout should be used instead of implementing yet another resource, grout is already here.

I like the idea :) but it should be said the Magnificent Residence does hold 500 though takes up too much space.

I dislike the idea, Only because It would devalue the frozen manor as everyone tried to upgrade and in 6 months we could all have the same discussion how the frozen manor needs an upgrade to bring it on par with the Magnificent Residence, it would just be an endless cycle, so that's a -1 from me.

This game is about being in an endless cycle. I think people that just want to finish upgrading their island, specialist, w/e.. would better play a single player game offline. Not a (supposed) MMO game..

Rather than creating endless cycles by changing minor statistics between buildings, They could actually spend their time creating new challenging content, That's how most MMO's have operated over the last 20years or so that in turn is a cycle worth being a part of.

Single player games don't offer the social aspect nor the trade aspect, Just because some people wish to have an upgraded island or specialist, Doesn't mean they would be better off in a single player game at all.

I remember very well how people threw out Witch Towers when Frozen Manors became readily available, and did you complain?
So why complain when the most expensive building in the game (15k Beans is enough to buy 6 Frozen Manors - with the upgrade, it would be enough to buy 15!) is slightly better than the next expensive?

Brayarg,
by the same logic you would have to countradict EVERY form of rebalancing in the game?

Making the Mag Residence upgradable is a minor thing. It requires the same amount of work as the Village school upgrade, yet it would have a major effect on the game, as Fairytale adventures would actually be useful in themselves.
As it stands now, a lv50 player with 2 QM's and Major can pretty much only do 1 thing with beans: sell them, to buy Frozen Manors because Fairytale rewards from the shop have nothing meaningful to offer.

What is so terrible about the idea of making Fairytale rewards actually useful for anything other than selling?

Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope. That's a lot of question but I believe I answered them all. Manors are exactly old are they?? Still a relatively new building in my eyes. The Mg the Vet and the MMA added extra dimensions to tactics, A good thing and we could do with more option like this. Silos and watermills are very much Meh I didn't pay RL cash for mine so its not the end of the world and they have been around since day dot.

Are you under the impression that only people that support your cause should post in your thread? Wouldn't that mean all suggestions are one sided? Surly for a suggestion to have a fair weighting it should be open to any and all members to express their views.

Sharpielein, If I believe someone has a good idea, I will call it exactly that and +1 it. Even if they did alter this eventually the player would still be confronted with the excess beans as they no longer need residence, This doesn't solve the problem it just prolongs a little longer.

While you are partially right, it only "prolongs it a little longer", though we may have different views on what "a little" means: it would prove to be a near-infinite sink of beans as the total amount of players who will not need any more settler population ever will never go to zero.

Unfortunately, as it stands, the Magnificient Residence was broken from the day of release in the sense that it was always the most expensive, albeit not the most useful residence in the game.
You yourself know why you don't prefer to own any MR over FM, and that reason is because it's broken.
Broken content deserves a fix, regardless of whether fix in the direction of nerf (WPP) or boost(what I suggest here).

The upgrade wouldn't affect anyone who has invested heavily into FM's and is happy with their current population count.
It would only affect those who wish to ultimately upgrade their islands, and for 30k+ beans invested, it would make a difference of merely 240 Settlers!

I'm getting the impression that you think once you have brought all that is currently available for beans/stalks that you have nothing to spend them on. The way I see it you have 2 choices, first stop playing fairy tales or just consider them another trade resource thus increasing your buying power to buy the things that you still need to get from trade.

Once you reach a certain population level the limiting factor is how fast you can train troops not what your max population is. There is no point to a upgrade if it you get no use out of it.

I understand that. However, the point is that if the Magnificient Residence was actually desirable to own in a sense that having more than 1 of them actually means something other than decoration, many more beans would leave the game.

Point taken.
Unfortunately, once you have reached that point, you don't need ANY buildings on your island safe barracks and provision house, because you'll be consuming resources at such an alarming rate that your entire economy is just a grain of sand in the desert.

People who are at this stage of the game don't need anything in a serious form or fashion, it's all just about squeezing that last bit of efficiency out of the limited available island space.
And having 10 upgraded Magnificient Residences would permit us to tear down tons of other buildings to make space for additional stuff.

I should know. Honestly, I'm there already: I can earn roughly the equivalent of 500k Bronze Swords and 500k Bread - per day!
But it would still be nice to see beans being useful for anything besides trading.
Is that such an unreasonable request?

If a building gets upgrade options, that's a very limited change.
So what if MR would be the best pop building for a while (til FM gets upgrade options).. To me it seems like the biggest reluctance to such change are from "bigtime traders"..

i dont see the issue the MR is a buy-able structure like the nobles and there upgradable ..the FM like the WT.WC etc are dropped so are not upgradable

But you can't rip off people for like 20-50% value of an item if everyone can get one for 15k beans anytime in any quantity, lol!

Except that those who are afraid that their trading scheme will go down the drain seem to forget that there will be 3 trade items they can use to replace their current scheme:
Beans, Stalks as well as Rainbow Snow will be in significantly higher demand than right now :)

Also beans or stalks for the upgrading would be good enough.

I just want to make my point clear... I want the MR upgradable :)

As far as balance goes, there is an easy answer. Simply make Dark Castles, Witch Towers and Mag Residences upgradable via some resource or another.

Hi that would be a wonderful addition to the game...MR was designed to replace level-5 nobles... as FM added in last x-mas they are most space efficient than MR..but FM already got graphics of level-5 noble so there future of upgrade scheme is lost...leaving MR to compete with FM in space effectiveness by making it upgradable will make much more improvements in game... think this FM comes with MA boxes with added luck so they are limited make change to game..where as MR available any time as long u can afford it..question is Blue Byte took 3years to make school upgradable...so this might take another 2-3 years ...its lateness their greatness...

at leaset we get soem use for stalks after I got everything in market.

Looks like another thread started over 2 years ago but just now re-looked at.

It is always nice to upgrade a population building (Residence, Noble, Floating Residence, Manor, Easter Residence, Gingerbread House) as well as have ones that don't upgrade.
Does the game need more population ? - well, with the introduction of Ventures adding to FairyTale Adventures, Normal Adventures and Colonies it would suggest so.
One solution is to introduce a Level 7 to some buildings (I think this may be in BB's minds as we speak).

If you want the maximum population you only have to look at Lulu's map for placing up to 90 Magnificent Residence which would give you a population of 45k.
I would be cautious as to whether you would need to upgrade a Magnificent Residence - who needs a population of over 50k ?
Before this is thought about - we should be addressing the need to have either a 2nd Barracks / Elite Barracks or to have a 10 x buff for these 2 buildings.

Just some observations, but plenty to look at and for BB to re-dress

so we're all running out of uses for beans and obviously the price is dropping in TO.

how about upgrading mag res's with beans? 15k beans per lvl, up to lvl6 like other buildings :)

c'mon bb, I know this will take 3 years to implement, but surely its a good idea.
