Hi... my game is almost unplayable, it freezes every 30 seconds, had 2 flash crashes in 30 minutes, and have had to refresh twice as all chat keeps vanishing. :(
I have done all the usual cleared cache changed browsers and it is still the same.

Wow.. that's even worse than what I have been getting every evening (at peak time) since last maintenance. All you can do is send a ticket to support and cross your fingers that enough people have complained about the lag since the 'hot fix' that they actually realise that they need to deactivate the changes they made last week... that's pretty much what the support guy I have been speaking to has told me.
ty for the reply, I will send a ticket now :)
Hi... I am losing chat again after it was supposed to be fixed, also generals take ages to load on adventures, and the generals are taking so long now to kill camps I am having to refresh. :(
Please can you fix it, I just want to play my game without all these constant hassles.
Oh and I have done the usual cleared cache and refreshed.
Hey same here ive done all the above
Hi do check you have the most uptodate version of Flash to check which you have right click on your screen whilst in settlers. Also do ensure your cache is large enough by right clicking in settlers and going to settings. Set the bar to high.

Been there, done that... lag is still making the game so annoying to play that I will be putting my island in full 'lock down' for the duration once the buffs on my gold chain run out in a very short while. The only times I have ever done this before is when I have gone on holiday, but I really cannot stand another week of this <expletive deletive>.
Fair deuce!
Though I was mainly trying to make the point that whilst some measures to optimize can be taken by players to minimize the effects, the real culprit is the modifications made by 'Exploration Week' and the fact that BB is persisting with it on some servers and not on at least one other beggars belief.
Maybe they should do a big run of T-Shirts made up for our Settlers with the slogan:
"I was there for Exploration Week and all I got was this lousy lag" ;)
I know the lag is very bad for some of you and that information has been passed on every day.
A fix is being worked on to solve the recent performance issues. While I know that is not new info, it is the only info available at this time.
*Puts on tin foil hat
I believe the lag and the "explorer event" is working as intended.
They needed to stop us spamming adventures in order to stockpile weapons from loot, before they implement the retarded changes to the adventure system.
What better than a massive dose of lag to make adventures significantly harder!
*removes tin foil hat
I'm on almost 24 hours a day, I never log off. Only time I get disconnected is when there's maintenance or a network issue on my side
Are you sure there's not a problem on your end?
:D good one toto
I do think if this was some conspiracy by BB ,everyone of us would suffer with the lag and that is just not so. So do players they do not like suffer more :D I am sure they love us all. They need us they are not going to disrupt our play to make a point or an extra buck.
On the whole i suffer very little but i have a little springclean of my laptop and yay we are off again full steam ahead. So much as some hate the idea our pc's , laptops, the way we do our housework , which browser we choose does have an affect too, a substantial one. I am no computer buff but i do know that if you run Google you end up with two versions of Flash. Now logically that would cause a conflict. Then add to the mix a java update thrown in (this is when i have a problem) the two are out of sync until you update flash.
BB have admitted on the .net forum that there is an issue with the latest game version. The problem is not our caches, or Flash or which browser we use. It's yet another example of untested content going live and surprise surprise causing problems. Frankly I'd rather not have surprise content. I'd like working content. That would be a *real* surprise!
There is a recent BB announcement in the same thread on the .net forum which promises a new fix next maintenance.
Many of the complaints have been going on for a long time and of course there may be a legitimate game issue. But in the past there has not been it HAS been lack of knowledge on behalf of some of the players with regard to their own PCs.
We do need to continually inform them but its getting harder because those that do not need the knowledge seem to forget that others do and are shouting over them and being misleading. For every player that has a problem how many do not? - I would love a thread where they could get away with saying that without being shouted down by someone else.
This forum used to be a far more interesting place to be with far more people posting but the shouting over each other is spoiling it. In my opinion overall the game has developed well and if it had not I would not be still playing and we all have that choice. In the meantime i will carry on improving my pc housework, doing MY bit to ensure the game works well and you know what, yes i have times when i keep getting booted off but I sort it and can then go sometimes weeks without a problem. If BB have admitted they have caused a glitch then I trust they are working on it and will resolve it as soon as they can - it is in their own best interests too.
This problem is affecting me and several members of my guild, so it has to be a BB issue . However thank you for the information provided which may speed up our pcs/laptops - at the very least it may help improve or mitigate the the problem and you lose nothing by trying it
Jim_B and VVidi appear to be referring to the same post:
If posts like this were more common globally it's likely people wouldn't be using words like "admitted" to describe them. That said, it has also been nice to see the local teams around the world acknowledging that there is a problem, even if the responses haven't all been as complete. It's frustrating enough when things break and the oft seen corporate habit of Silence doesn't help, this current approach is better.Quote:

Running through the checklist, when one knows the checklist, is fairly quick and easy and even if it doesn't fix a specific problem it may catch others. In this case, and with many bugs, posting "I've tried all the standard fixes and no go." is feedback as useful as "I did xyz and it fixed things!" and, as you said, the two streams of info can get tangled. Feathers are easily ruffled because it is so common for players to be told, in short, "It's your fault, not BB's nor the game's." even when that's clearly not the case. Again, this current approach, with local teams acknowledging a difficulty and offering info when possible, is better.
Edit: Also worth noting:
Quite a lot of fora worldwide have grown quieter, if multiple collections of many many posts can be taken as representative this is due largely to the previously mentioned Silence and general lack of communication from BB. Not so much because of players behaving badly. It gets tedious caring and saying the same thing over and over into what often seems like a 'black hole', especially when it's known information is often, though not always, out there. (Sometimes BB really are just as lost as we are.) As an example of available info that can be found, if you know where to look - the semi-recent gamescom talk, parts: 1 and: 2, addressed many longstanding questions. If you knew where to find it and can handle the German. A lot of people would have felt a lot better for a long time if some of that had been public long ago.
There have been a few glimmers of communication improvement recently, to go with a few striking setbacks. Here's hoping the glimmers win out in the end.
/end slightly offtopic thoughts. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Bug Thread.
Yes, that is correct. The fix will be implemented next maintenance.
I suggest all players who had blocks fail because of the server lag, receive a small war monument with the text, when pointer hoovering over the monument "here lie our unknown heroes, fallen because of bad code and server lag".
so .. in other words... almost 1 week downtime?
I lost count how many troops i have lost, TO not working, having to repeat things 3+ times, adventures are almost unplayable. Checking troops that you load doesnt help as by the time it gets to the camp, somehow previous troop setups are present. Explorers dont seem to want to go and search, nor do explorers. TO locks up, the list goes on and on. The more stuff i do in the game the worse it gets.
Couldnt get on last night, locked up, after 10 mins i gave up. Got up today all my gold chain still running unbuffed, gold mine almost collapsed....bleh. This is not just horrible, its unplayable. I think its time to leave this game. Just spent money recently too which is a shame. Will stop playing till next maint. If its not fixed after that I think its time we part ways.

They could remove the lag today, if they were inclined. That way we wouldn't have to put up with another weekend like the last one. Only reason I can think why they wouldn't is that someone's pride won't allow the public admission that the introduction of Exploration Week was a massive error in judgment.
While it's true that Exploration Week did not improve the previously reported performance issues, the situation was exacerbated for some players. A fix was attempted this week on some of the other servers during their normal maintenance time and BB_Imtia (Romanian CM) has confirmed today that the update has been successful.
In order to avoid additional downtime, the fix will be implemented during our regular maintenance.
On the bright side, the update we will receive has been proven a success so further additional downtime should not be required.
let bb do something about the thing that people loses connection with the server and then almost cant re-enter the game. guildies are thinking to quit the game if this continues
Yea our guild is totally dead. No one on now. Hope most of them come back. I completely forgot about the weekly gem bonus so I just log in to claim that. At this hour 2 people are on from my guild. Usually we have about 20. Server seems very quiet. Funnily enough with hardly any1 on server seems to be usable now. But it bugga's belief that they would take the server offline right in the middle of aussie peak hour to fix something without warning, or that doesnt really seem like a game breaker. But something like this they wont fix.
Yet something like this they are happy to let people suffer. Spent weeks accumulating things like copper ore and the days I couldnt log in or play, I lost half of it, as well as my copper bars etc. I really dont understand how BB decide when to spring a surprise maintenance on us. Why doesnt this warrant that, yet server is like a ghost town, everyone has lost troops, saved up stores, etc. Can't play and yet we wait. Very disappointing. Had to cancel my weekend WW.
Halloween coming up and the stuff i have lost which has taken me weeks to accumulate slowly has me very annoyed. Honestly what is wrong with you? Why didnt this get escalated as a Severity 1 problem? Outage or unplayable game doesnt qualify....LMAO. I have seen many people leave that were spending a fortune on this game. You could be making much more money if they you kept those that spend a lot of money on the game happy, instead of alienating them and not giving 2 shanks about their opinion or concerns.
anyways rant over. During this period I am seriously considering leaving this game and doing something more constructive with my time. Keep up the alienation of your user base BB, real shame since its a cool game.
maybe my expectations are lower ect than some others, but i look at this as a game that i play to enjoy, yes all things in games and life wont always go good and take some getting there...
we constantly ask BB for more and more to add or improve our islands, bugs is the result of adding codes to codes, its about to happens
Give BB time the'll sort it out >> smirkles :))
Thanks for the feedback BB
